Up until now I have used Bar 3 to represent health bars across all my campaigns. It fit nicely just inside the token square, and I never had an issue with obstruction. After the update all of the bars are invading any square above them. Any token sitting on the square above them completely obscures any bar you have for your token. As DM this can create a mess when I am simply trying to survey the field of battle and explain narratively what is going on and a brief description of the enemies. My Suggestion: A) Give us a toggle switch on how to display our token bars in a similar way to the status bars B) At minimum give us one bar that exist within the confines of the square the token exist in. Undo this part of the update basically. The following
image shows how if a token above sits above another token the bars are
obscured. There is plenty of room, no matter what token
style you use, at the bottom of each square just above the nameplate. If
some people just use two bars, they would fit nicely on the left and
right border of the square vertically as well (made an example image
below). As
the images show to see the health bars you will need to actively juggle
which token is above the other by bringing each individual token to the front. The bars in the example image are each at different points,
but I can't see that at a glance without either moving the token that is sitting on top or bringing the token on the bottom to the front. As per a discussion in the Pro forums there are plans to make the bars more "Compact." I do not see how being compact will solve anything. They will most likely still
be obscured by other tokens.
