I am an experienced 5E player and DM (and long time player of other editions, dating back to basic, among other game systems).  I have very very little experience with any system on Roll20 though, and zero experience with any D&D on roll20, meaning my roll 20 experience/knowledge is minimal at best, and up until now found the idea of playing D&D 5E intimidating, however I am ready to start learning as long as others have the kindness and patience to help teach me how to use learn Roll20.  I am also not a fan of home-brew stuff. So what I am looking for is to join a group (like 5-8 other player) as a player with varying experienced people to help figure it all out and have a great game going.  Ideally a  DM who has a solid knowledge of how Roll20 works, though it doesn't have to be some one that knows all the in and out; or a DM that is adept at learning Roll20, either or would be great, but obviously would have the kindness and patience to help teach the ins and outs.  Or maybe a knowledgeable player that can do the same for anyone who wants to join said group.  And maybe some day I'll be able to run my own D&D 5E games on here.  one day a week -biweekly, my TZ: EST.  A long term campaign not a 1-3 sessions type. So this is a call out to all levels (1-20 ;) ) to say hey, I want to be in on this too.  Just post a response, and share where you are as a player and or DM and anything else D&D 5E related and about yourself on this topic.  Those that know what they are doing on Roll 20 should probably mention that too, as any of you that would be willing to DM.  No need to rush this all together, lets get something solid going before getting to characters and starting a campaign. I hope to see and hear some good feedback. Just thought I would add, until a DM is found nothing can start.  Players feel free to post, but it could take some time before a DM is located.
What’s up Anubis, I’m fairly new to d&d and compleatly new to roll20.  I’ve been looking for a game and would be down to join you in learning roll20.  Anyways keep me posted if you find some more peeps, thanks!
Sounds good.  if you are not aware, the is a follow topic tab in the top right corner when your screen is fully scrolled up, that will make sure you get notifications when someone posts in this topic.
Hello Anubis, I am completely new to D&D and roll 20.  TBH I will need help from the ground up am I someone you would let tag along with you to help get started?

Yeah, that's the idea I'm trying to get going.  I know enough about 5e to DM and play, just my Roll20 know how is like almost nothing.  Like me, the idea is to get the help for other players and or DMs alike.  A spread the love of the game type thing.  I am all for people completely new to the whole thing but I am hoping to attract other people that are willing to take the time to bring the rest of us up to speed on how things work on here too.  Hopefully 1 or 2  or even more of those people would willing to do so.
I am currently running my first campaign. Guess it really depends on how complex you wish to get with Roll20. I mean I have most of the mechanics down, however, the more intense functionality still eludes me.

Hey Anubis. My name is Matt I have been playing 5E for a couple years now as both a player and a gm. I would be interested in possibly GMing a game for you and a group but i would like to talk first and make sure we would be a good fit for each other. All of my experience with dnd is on roll 20 and alot of my dming experience is teaching the system and roll 20 to new players. Send my a pm if you would like to talk a bit further on discord or just through pms. I look forward to hearing from you.
Hey I would be interested in learning with you as a player.  I have some dnd experience (not 5e) but have been watching videos for gameplay and roll20 tutorials.  EST
Hi my name is Sam and I would love to play in a campaign with you as a player. I have a little experience with DnD 3.5 and 5e IRL but I haven't played much of either editions. I haven't gotten past level 4 in any campaign due to the group falling apart from scheduling. I really want to find a group that I can play with long term so I can really get my bearings on the game and also to make friends along the way. I would also prefer to play by the book as much as possible. I don't mind a homebrew rule every now and then but would prefer to use the handbook as much as possible. I really like to play the RP so I usually make backstories about my character and go over it with the DM to make sure it all works in the setting. I do like combat as well as everything is paced out well. I'm in TZ: PST I hope you'll consider me as a player in your group!
Hello! My name is mari and I don't really have any experience with D&D 5E. I'm a quick learner though and love to RP, so I'd love to tag along as a player if you wouldn't mind!
Howdy! I'm LoneStar and I know roll20 decently well and have some basic to moderate knowledge of Roll20. I am looking for a game on Tuesday evenings CST. Even if I am not able to join your campaign, I would still be willing to teach you what I know about Roll20.
Hi guys, I'm Blake, I have nearly 3000 hours on roll20 and I would consider myself an expert with it. I have even more hours put into DND irl, I've only played 5th but I have most of the book nearly memorized. I have a lot of experience dming and playing and would be more than willing to do either.  The only type of game I don't enjoy is one that ends up being a group of murder hobos, my time zone is EST.

Hey everyone I was pleasantly surprised to see all the responses today, including from those of you willing to DM and help others learn the how to's for Roll20, that's awesome; and also those of you interested in joining. So I will say this, I'm not going to take charge of who plays and who doesn't all alone, I myself really hope to be included lol.  I just wanted to open things up to discussion and hopefully get things going, and hopefully to play.  That sounds like a DMs decision. Though I would like to suggest the DM pick a couple of us as a board of moderators or something (people that are nice, and generally want to help others out), and the DM and the moderators to filter through the players and make a decision together, that way it doesn't have to be on the DM alone and that way they can focus on more of the campaign that way on not all the pressure of who is playing is on one person.  I am willing to be one of those moderators. I really think that needs to be the first step, deciding on a DM, and if that person likes my suggestion then getting 2 or 3, or 4 of us that may have a little experience in running games in the past as a board of moderators for players (the DM getting to know said moderators before choosing them). The day and time can can come next, followed by who joins in.  I'd love everyone to, but I also want the DM comfortable with the number of players the have to run for, that is why I say that.  This way things are a little organized so everything runs smoother.  I have read each of your replies, and I noticed Stela, Matt and Blake S mentioned having Roll20 experience, D&D 5e experience inn running and playing, and have said interest in running for us, and I assume are willing to take the time to teach those of us that know little to nothing.  So I'll message you three and see what happens with that. And yes since it was mentioned, murder hobos, boo!!!  If that's something your into doing.....    I am seeking this out for co-op style playing and not killing NPCs and/or PCs as if it were a hobby.    I should also include that a mic be a requirement, doesn't have to be anything fancy, or some sort of audio device that can be used for Discord.  I myself use my phone, usually with a head set, due to my computer being so old as to not having a single audio/sound port, where my headset is a single plug.

UPDATE So have talked to the three that showed interest in running, Stela mentioned it probably be better to go with Matt and Blake S, but your more then welcome to have the option of playing Stela depending on how things are sorted. So currently we are sitting at Matt and/or Blake S running.  It was briefly mention the possibility of having two games going and players chosen deciding on which they want to play once that has been established, though it isn't a for sure and nothing is decided yet, meaning it could very well be one game one DM.  So not much has been figured out yet, it was more a meet and greet to get to know them a bit, but it will decided to figure that out by the end of the weekend if not sooner.  The general consensus was a group of 4-5 maybe 6 players as teaching how to do things takes up time, not just Roll20 stuff but 5e stuff too. we are probably looking at / estimated a 6 pm- midnight at the latest (EST) playing time frame.  The day is not clear yet as one of them didn't have much of a chance to talk, no fault of theirs, it was kinda a last minute decision to chat with them. Matt and Blake S feel free to add in time and date that works for your schedule, especially if I miss spoke. or if you would like to add anything else Once that is all figured out, Discord Channels will be set up, as will a Roll20 gaming page, and then player applications/interviews will be addressed.  to see how people fit with each other.    Who's playing will be decided, and then we will proceed to character creation.  And then launch.  Sorry if this all seems lengthy, just want to make sure people get along/fit together, and the group clicks well. So as a time line / schedule, I'd like to have the first bit sorted by the end of the weekend at the latest, a Roll 20 page for the campaign and Discord set up by mid next week.  Players able to fill out an applications then,I am figuring to see happen in 2-3 days at most.  Whom ever is going to sort out who plays a day or 2,  or 3 after that.  Players making characters and submitting them over a week at most and hoping the DM(s) having figured out what their planning between tomorrow and this point in the schedule if they can (or at least to the point they are ready to launch the game).  So what I am hoping for is we can all get the game(s) beginning play date (game session 1) by March 27th, or sooner if things go smooth.  It's just an estimate.
You guys are awesome. I wouldn't mind playing with any of you.
I would love to jump in on this. I am new to roll20 not so new to d&d but not a veteran either. I have lots of patience and love the idea of a long campaign. I also like the idea of a non-homebrew game because id like to play a game of solid d&d. Only thing i may have an issue with is im in PST and playing until midnight EST means ill be up till 4am. However this is still a great sounding game and group and id love to be a part.
? PST as in Pacific Standard Time? than 6 pm EST (Eastern Standard Time) would be 3 pm Pacific, and midnight EST would be 9 PM Pacific Time. (Also currently most of the US is about to switch to daylight time. Spring forward....yay......)
Oh whoops, did i go the other direction? Hahaha, 3pm i can do on weekends.
Sounds good Anubis! Thank you for setting all this up. Sounds like it will be a great experience for the people that are able to join! Keep us updated :-)

Were hitting daylight saving time too up here in Canada, we'll obviously being EST here also..  And I fully agree with the use of the word Spring...  About time to get rid of all this cold and snow.  Updates will be done as we progress in things, looking forward to the game launch and getting to know other players between now and then, and playing with new peeps.
UPDATE So Matt and Blake are each going to DM different campaigns, very awesome.  I'll let them inform everyone what the details on those will be.  We are currently (as of this post) setting up a Discord server, and Matt and Blake will be setting up game listing pages (as soon as they can),where players can apply to, and links for those pages will be provided here. From there players that are invited to join will get invites to the discord server.
Awesome. Looking forward to it.

Okay, we have an application, most people will be invited to the discord server to find out which game they are best suited for. (Matt's or mine) Name: Age: Experience: Character idea or sample: Favorite Part of DnD:

Name:  Jim Age:  43 Experience:  D&D 5e: Plenty, enough to play and run games and then some (many years of playing in many systems including D&D 5e).  Roll 20:  Not very much. Character idea or sample:  That will depend on what others are playing. Favorite Party of DnD:   I am assuming you meant part and not party.  Co-op playing, people becoming friends and hanging out, character advancement, rp and combat mix. UPDATE We are at the stage where the DMs are ready to start taking in players.  Can every one who is still interested reply that they are, so that the DMs can know who of are still interested and so that they can contact you.  Players will be required to have a mic or other audio/speech method. Also please consider this topic to now be LFP.
Name: Steeve Age: 29 Experience: 5e since it came out, otherwise 10 years of LARP Character idea or sample: Depends what is allowed and what setting/type of campaign Favorite Part of DnD: The improvisation, general RP with players who stay in character, hanging out with new people (preferably people over 18 who aren't offended by everything and anything), character development/progression, the puzzles/mechanics/story specific to each DM which makes every new game different Although not mentioned, available schedule: Sunday 3PM-11PM EST, Mon/Tues 6PM-11PM EST
Name: Rob     Age: 34 Experience: Been playing D&D on and off since the mid 90's Character idea or sample: I'm fairly eclectic when it comes to character types. I like to be a creative problem solver so I naturally tend towards wizards and rogues. Favorite Part of DnD: Camaraderie, cooperative story-telling, roleplaying, etc.
Is there still openings for a newbie to join either Blake's or Matt's campaign?

deleted as I am unable to join either game.

UPDATE:  Blake's Campaign:  Will be held on Fridays somewhere between 6 pm and going to about 12 pm EST (approximately running 4 to 5 hours).  Starting no later then 8 pm for stragglers. Matt's Campaign:  Will be held on Wednesdays somewhere between 7 pm and going to about 10 or 11 pm EST (approximately running 3 to 4 hours).  Starting no later then 8 pm for stragglers. On Stragglers, please understand that the DMs and other players time is as important and as valuable as your own, as we understand that sometimes people are going to be late for various reasons.  It is asked that if you are going to be late to please let your DM know you will be if you are.  Frequent/consecutive lateness may be cause/required for you to give up your spot in a campaign so that it does not hinder any one else's time. There are openings for both campaigns, and a post will be made as an update regarding player openings/slots filled up for each of them when that happens.

-Edit- I see neither campaign is on a Tuesday but keep me in mind if you do start one on a Tuesday or if you know of any that are looking for players on Tuesday. Thank you so much for your time and effort!!! Name: LoneStar Age: 31 Experience: about 3 months of DnD 5e and also have about 8 months of GURPS experience. Roll20 about 1 year total. Character idea or sample: So the character I am really interested in doing is a Loxodon Barbarian. He was kidnapped at birth or shortly after by someone (depends on the campaign) and was forced into being a gladiator (can vary based on the campaign) for 50 years till he finally wins his freedom. He then starts travelling around the lands trying to find a place in the world. Favorite Part of DnD: In the little I have done, I prefer combat over RP but the games I have been in so far haven't had much RP. I do want to explorer RP more though as I like the concept but have no experience so it's confusing. I really love getting to know everyone and their characters. Side Note: My only available day at this time is Tuesdays from 5:30 CT to 12 CT.
zolamann said: deleted as I am unable to join either game. Sorry to hear that, please let us know if that changes in the future, as you never know if a player slot becomes available.

What's going on, hoping you're still LFP! So I'll post the application below.  I'm available for either game weekly but think Wednesday may be better. Name: Aaron Age: 34 Experience: 5E experience is zero, I've spent most of my time with DnD 3.0-4 and more recently Pathfinder.  So plenty of RP experience just not familiar with 5E (yet).  Roll20 experience is also 0.  All my RP has been in person, but have played with strangers and friends alike so not worried about it. Character idea or sample: I'm still reviewing the player's handbook to get an idea of what I might like to try in the new system.  One idea so far has been a goliath ancestral guardian barbarian.  I also tend towards healers/off healers a lot so might try druid/cleric/ranger/paladin depending. New idea for an older halfling warlock with a divine patron who is forced into adventures as part of his pact with the halfling god urogalan.  Liked the off healing abilities of this option. Favorite Part of DnD: DnD specifically is easy to pickup and with 5E from there's not a lot of books and errata to learn.  RPG I like the development of individuals into a party, overcoming challenges, and thinking about what's next for my character.

Are there still any openings for a player?
Hey there! A friend and I have been looking for a game together, so if ya'll are still looking, I was wondering if there was anymore info on these campaigns, as far as source materials allowed, long term/short term, using a module, etc?
There are still spots. Matt's game is a module, (Hoard of the Dragon Queen) Mine is more of a sandbox game in my own setting both are planned to be long term. I know for sure all (non adventure) books besides ravinica are allowed for mine, and I think the same is true for Matt's
1552591825

Edited 1552593100
That is correct. I will be doing hoard of the dragon queen and using all offical books except ravinica for character creation.
wiseman021 said: Are there still any openings for a player? Sure is, we will start talking to applicants soon..
Hi, if you guys still have spots i would like to try to play aswell, i'm fairly schooled in 5E but i never played other official systems, still i learn pretty fast. Would love to play a game with you guys.
For the Friday game is it just a sandbox freeroam around Faerrun? Will there be normal factions/deities or is it all just homebrew? Figured I'd ask since if the latter I'll know it's not a game for me since I want to play D&D. Didn't see this info given so asking that question.
I am just here to say that I utterly hate being from a non-US timezone *ReeeeeeeeEEE*

He was found by a priest who raised him and taught him the ways of their God. Favorite Part of DnD: Roleplaying and character development
Blake, do you know when you plan to start your campaign?
name: Mike age: 25 location: UK (GMT) experience with D&D: 10 years of playing 7 years of DMing days and times I can play: tuesday, wednesday, and sunday, 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM GMT I would prefer to be a player in this game, I've spent too much time in the GM chair and it's time I took a break, I like to play RP focused games and can fit my characters to any play-style. I'm diligent and punctual, I prefer to have fun with my games being more relaxed, meeting new people.
Hey everyone.  So I think the DMs are about to be ready to move into the players interview stage, unless they already have and I am not aware yet.  So stay tuned and I'm sure you will be contacted soon.
Im looking to join a group! I have another player buddy that is looking as well. Anyone searching  ?
