Table Thumbnail View

A friend and I have been trying to use Roll20 for more traditional wargame miniatures due to our current distance. We play some generic wargame systems, but we've also tried to play things like WHF & WH40K. We set the table usually at 72x48 squares, and on occasion it's fine, but there are some issues when zooming out that can crash the plugins for the browser (Chrome) when attempting to get a general 'overview' feel for the battle space. The solution I can think of is having a thumbnail view option to enable a smaller view of the larger table. This will allow users to maintain a 80-70% zoom of the table focused on a specific spot, but click a section of the thumbnail to quickly shift to another area on the main table.  An alternative implementation to this could also be a token bookmark feature; drop a token onto the GM layer with a field for adding a bookmark name (say One for example). I put the mark down at one spot, name it One and then have an option on the toolbar menu (open to all players) which will present a dropdown menu with a list of all the bookmarks and upon clicking one of those options, will pan to that location whilst maintaining the current zoom level. This may even be useful to roleplayers as well as wargamers due to GM's being able to quickly shift back and forth whilst setting up encounters or scenarios in other areas of the dungeon during random delves, whilst maintaining the zoom level. They can shift from the main area to an area three rooms away, slap down or reposition one or two tokens, then quickly shift back to the main area without having to risk fumbling with the zoom features, pan feature or having their browser run amok.

Michael, I am sorry to hear your browser is running amok. Have you tried turning off the plugins?  - Gauss
Aye; it's not really a huge issue of itself. I can reload the button and I'm right back on the Roll20 page, same with my friend. It's just with the wargaming and the need to zoom in/out a lot more than typically required from roleplaying games, and that I play a lot of RTS's with a minimap led to the thumbnail idea. The zooming works fine in Mozilla (albeit without the Alt+scroll function), and it seems the hiccups are only limited to Chrome. Even then, this site is worth it and the ease at which we can play anything tabletop related over a long distance on a refined site such as Roll20 out weighs any minor, manageable issues. Thank you for the prompt reply :)

Michael, if you are willing to work with me I would like to find out what plugins are causing your Chrome to have issues. While Plugins are not something we have any control over it would help me as a Moderator to know more about plugins that cause people problems. :) If you are willing please send me a private message. - Gauss
