About me: I've been trying to find a Curse of Stahd campaign for the last few weeks, but I can't find any games that fit my schedule. I'm hoping that an available DM is open to running this campaign for me and a few friendly, easy going people. I'm looking to start the campaign in early April. Time is set tentatively around 9am - 1 pm PST Saturday, but can also possibly be some other time around Saturday night or Sunday Night. I'm looking for a DM who is: Well experienced with 5e Has experience running Curse of Strahd or other similar modules Has extensive experience using Roll20 (Pro account, music, dynamic lighting, doors etc) My preference: Dynamic Lighting, update on drop, advanced fog of war, enforce line of sight and walls Open to new players Play Style: 40 Combat / 60 RP Has a Good mic (no webcam needed) on Discord Not required but preferred: Already have the Curse of Strahd module on Roll20 Tries a range of voices for RPing (Focuses more on keeping conversations in character rather than narrating during interactions) Fun, easy going, committed, and looking to make some cash on the side ($50 per session x ~4 sessions per month = $200) Desired Party Size: 4-5 players + 1 DM I will be responsible with finding / replacing players. Let me deal with any drama, so you can focus on having fun too DM Application Process: Before we get married, let's at least go on a date first haha For me to find the right DM, I'd like us to do a one on one, 1 hour 1 shot / interview with you over discord and roll20 to see your style using the Curse of Strahd module (No combat required). Feel free to use an abbreviated story from the module, or improvise one yourself using the assets from the module. I'll be looking for: Interesting hook and story (creativity) Your use of maps and dynamic lighting (roll20 aptitude) Music choice for the situation (atmosphere) NPC RP interactions (improvisation/style) Finishing the one shot (time management) Please Post a Comment with a list of your 1 HR time block availability, and I will private message you a confirmation on the meeting time Available Times (PST) Weds 3/6 5 pm - 10 pm Friday 3/8 5 pm - 10 pm 10 pm - 11 pm Reserved Sat 3/9 9am - 12pm 9am - 10 am Reserved 6pm - 10pm Sun 3/10 9am - 10pm 9 am - 10 am Reserved

Wow, this looks like a great opportunity. I run P2P Curse of Strahd three times a week, my newest group being my 6th runthrough. I'm part of the CoS reddit, which has a lot of discussions on enhancing the book or fixing the weaker parts of the book, and have put together what I think is a pretty excellent combination of story and challenge. While this thread isn't currently active, you can check out my previous posting here: https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/7225952/5e-lfp-p2p-advanced-curse-of-strahd-gmt-8pm-friday/?pageforid=7225952#post-7225952 I've used Roll20 for years, and use advanced fog of war/dynamic lighting, music, custom API scripts when needed - and I'm totally down to change any of my set up. I typically use discord for voice, so I'm all set up with that. If you're interested, I'd love to meet up on Discord some time. The best availability for me this week is Friday after 7pm PT. One question: with the one-shot, is there one in mind that you're looking for, or is it something I should prepare? Please PM me whenever.

Just a heads up for anyone else, the one-shot is all up to you. I understand 1 hour isn't much time, but it's just an appetizer to the full course. Feel free to use an abbreviated story from the module, or improvise one yourself using the assets from the module.

few questions about the other things and players: Will they know that a player is paying the DM and retains control over the party? Do they get to play for free? what would happen if you come to terms with another player but the DM feels you are in the wrong in the game? Would your money win out on any decision you make? With a player taking up dealing with any drama put the DM in a spot to be bias towards one player more than others. What happens if you aren't able to make a session or maybe even 2 back to back - do you allow the party to still play and you not pay? You're asking a DM to be 60/40 on rp & combat but your wanting to play out of a module. What happens if you take certain paths through the module (the cards and all that) that isn't what you want? You also ask the DM to be open to new players which can considerably slow down a campaign, are you a new player yourself? I would imagine that speed of the sessions and the RP synergy would be a priority here with a pay to play session, as you would get much more fulfillment with veteran players around you and a DM ready to rock. I was in a game last night where the DM had to spend almost an hour getting a new player set up because they were unable to use the suuuper easy charactermancer and werent able to show up early. What if the game is boring and you decide it's not worth your money as the session progresses, what do you do then? Do you sacrifice the story or the other players who could be taking the fun away or just call it quits? If you are to retain control over the party while I was to just DM, can I expect you to have every player ready for session 1 and ready to go at play time every session? What if we need to replace a member for any given reason, are you able to identify characteristics in the party to recruit a new player who will fit the party mold without issue? What kind of vetting process with that be? are you to copy and paste me what I should post for a LFG advertisement for the game (not sure non-dms get all of the notifications of a person wanting to join)? There are some rules for the pay to play games and posting for players and the way the text has to be set up with disclaimers and everything, you good on that stuff? How flexible is that session time? 9am on a sat on PST time will cater to a different demographic than the usual prime dnd time of late nights. Any type of player you would be looking for that fits the mold of your timeframe? is your PayPal verified? While the CN in me doesn't want me to tell you this, but the going rate around here (roll20) per session is $15 tops and thats in extremely rare cases, did you just not know that, or is there a reason your willing to go way above the cutting rate of $5-10 per session to play in Barovia?

Hi Dullahon, Thank you for your thorough message. These are all great questions that'd I'd be glad to answer and clarify these questions over discord. I've sent you a PM so we can schedule a time to discuss this.
@Dullahon The typical going rate isn't $15 per session but $15 per person - per session. Usually the posted prices you see when you are looking at paid games is for 1 slot in the game. Not the total price for the whole session.
