Maybe I should start a new topic for this question, but since I started with Handouts using API script: Using an API script, how do I should add style (like bold text) and line break to "description and notes" text of a new Handout?
There's no way to create a handout or character inside a folder programmatically. The API doesnt have access to the journal or similar elements of the user interface. I'd create a new thread for your other question to attract people who might know the answer.
