New to Roll20. Looking for a group.

Hi everyone. I'm Tracy and I found this site about a week or so ago and just signed up a couple of days ago. Like everyone else, I'm looking for a group. I started playing D&D in college with a group of friends some <cough ! cough!> 25 years ago. We played weekly for quite some time but as the story goes, real life took over and we drifted apart. I've tried unsuccessfully to find another group in my area with out much luck. I've looked into a variety of play by post forums but they didn't seem to click for me. I'm hoping to find an active group or groups and get back into gaming. We mostly played 2nd edition D&D with a bunch of house rules thrown in. We also had short sessions of Traveler and Star Wars. We started delving into 3rd edition but that was shortly before the group started breaking up. At this time, I'm mostly familiar with 2nd ed but I'm willing to learn and try other systems. I prefer to play a story driven game. I much prefer to role play over roll play if you know what I mean. I enjoy playing unique characters with a rich background. I'm definitely not a power gamer. Stats don't mean that much to me. I would prefer to play in a good aligned campaign though I don't mind darker themes. I'm not interested in being evil. I like a high adventure, good vs evil, heroes out to save the world type of game. I can be available weekdays from about 5 pm to around 9 pm EST. On weekends, I can be available at almost any time. I welcome any suggestions others might have for games to join, especially those who are willing to help teach a new player the ropes. I am looking through the games posted on Looking for a Group. I hope to play with some of you soon.

I don't have skype yet. Guess I'd better get it. I've noticed that a lot of the games contact through skype

If you enjoyed travelers I have a bunch of spots open in my own game. I run a simple home-brew version(with massive expansion on weapons, ships, government, and culture tables) and love long dramatic epics myself. I can't promise a hero story but my writing tends to be very personal with antagonists to grey the lines. We play on saturday noon to whenever(U.s pacific time) PM me if your interested.

Hey Tracy, nice introduction post. Your interests are similar to mine. I identified with your mentions of 2nd Edition AD&D, playing non-evil, heroic fantasy, storylines and roleplaying. I've started a group on Roll20, it's a campaign called the 2E Tavern. If you use the LFG search engine and look for AD&D 2nd Edition games, this campaign will come up. Please read the introduction and ask to join the Tavern if you are interested. It is a place for people who enjoy 2nd Edition on Roll20. It may help you find games, and I think you would be a very good player candidate for some of the DM's and games offered in the Tavern. I would like to start a game with you myself, just based on what you wrote in the start of this thread. If you connect with me in the Tavern campaign we can go from there.
