Map Layers and Pogs/Characters - desperate...

Hi there,  I'm a newbie GM, started a purchased (within roll20) Mines of Phandelver module.  Trying to prepare the game, and I think I understand the different layers.  The problem I have is that when I import and pog/monster from the bestiary, or any PC into the O&T layer, the players cannot see them. They are somehow hidden under the map layer. They can "grab" their own PCs, but can only see them momentarily, and when they set them down, the pogs disappear... I have tried everything, and am close to tearing my hair out...  Any help appreciated. Thx

That sounds quite bizarre.  Some things to check: 1) Try disabling advanced fog of war, if it's on.  If that "fixes" the problem, it's likely an issue with the settings on the token regarding light sources and has sight. 2) Try disabling dynamic lighting, if it's on.  If that "fixes" the problem, same as above, settings with sight and light. 3) Try moving the token to another layer, like the GM layer, moving it to front, then moving it back to the Objects layer.
Hi Aaron, Thank you for the quick answer. I will try those with a player live on the other side tomorrow.  I did move the pogs between layers, the only time the players could see their pogs was on the Map & Background layer. But there they could not click on them, and I don't suppose that where they ought to be "living" under normal circumstances, right? My understanding is that the M&B layer is only for "immovable" objects such as walls, furniture, etc... Will report back once I have tried the options above with a player live... Thx, Andreas

Check to make sure your background map is on the map layer. I've seen problems occur when GMs accidentally move a background map to the token layer or the GM layer.

If you or one of your players could provide a screenshot, we might be able to see what is happening also.

You might also create a second free account and join it to your game loaded in a different browser or an incognito/private session.  That will let you test without needing a real player.
