Text Tool keeps closing itself

When I or my players try to add text to the virtual table the tool closes itself. Examples: Click on draw -> text -> click on screen = text box appears then immediately disappears.  CTRL+G -> click on screen = text box appears then immediately disappears. I tried changing my color and the background color of the map. Not sure why I thought that'd matter but there you go. It was doing this last week and is still doing it now. I had hoped the problem would go away on it's own. Is this a known bug or, more importantly to me, is there a known fix?  Edit - I forgot to mention. If I right click instead of left click it will allow the text box to have text entered. This puts the screen into free-scroll mode. The text then cannot be edited without using more right clicks. I don't consider this a fix as it's unwieldy and causes the screen to move around. 

This is a known bug that started to be reported a couple of days ago. A better workaround until it is fixed might be to select the text tool, click and hold where you want it to be and type a single letter. Then release. The resulting text object can be edited normally by double clicking with the selection tool.

It only affects Chrome, so you can also use Firefox as a workaround.

Well, I can't get it to do anything, and I'm stuck using Chrome. I guess I won't be able to enter any text in advance of my game this Sunday. I hope this gets fixed soon!

Keith, I just tried your workaround. It's awkward, but maybe I'll get the most important things added for now. You don't think that it'll get fixed that quickly?

I honestly have no idea about or control over the matter. I just saw the problem and the workaround. I know it's been reported several times.

I didn't think you did, and I appreciate your sharing the workaround. I just figured that if it's a known problem, that someone would fix it and that would be that. Didn't expect it to take more than a few days, tops. When I pointed out a problem with our company's software to our IT dept, they'd fix it in a day or so.

There's a lot of stuff that needs fixing at the moment, unfortunately. :) It probably all comes down to how easy the fix is. My guess is it's not a quick and easy solution, because it appears to have been caused by a recent Chrome update. Firefox does not display the symptoms, and the problem started directly after a recent Chrome build.

So for me the solution is pretty simple: while having text tool selected, double click. Don't move your cursor - just double click and it won't dissapear.

Hm. Almost two months and not fixed. It's hard not to be frustrated.
