Using the Ruler In-Game

Greetings. I had a question on how to use that ruler function in-game (the one below the dice on the vertical toolbar on the left). From what I understand when you click on it, then left-click and hold on your token and drag, it creates a ruler trail where you drag the mouse. So if you're in an area and drag the mouse 15ft. in front of you, there will be an arrow that says "15ft." What's more, if you press "Q", it will "stamp" where the mouse is and you could drag it in another direction. This is handy for curved roads or difficult terrain. My question is: How do you use this function to move your token at the same time? If you click the ruler, it will display the corresponding movement 'from your token'. But how do you use the ruler and then move your token to the endpoint in one action? Sorry if this is a somewhat newbie question, I'm still relatively new to roll20 and trying to get the hang of things.
