New player looking to start playing and learning.

Hello. I'm Arty. I've never played D&D before but I've seen it played a lot. I've always wanted to start playing but don't really have any friends to play with. I'm just looking for a small group(have slight anxiety problems) that is fun and not very serious. Let's goof around and have some fun. I work most days except Sunday until 6pm. I kind of already made a character, just race and class, nothing else. I only know the very basics. I'm looking to learn more about this with hopefully a small group of fellow beginners.
If you can be flexible about game system, I am running Mazes & Minotaurs , a free RPG based on the idea of role-playing emerging from ancient world miniatures war-gaming instead of medieval miniatures war-gaming. The result is an old-school D&Dish rules set with a classical base to the chaotic blend of various flavors. It's simpler than modern D&D, so not a bad intro to the hobby (it is also free, which makes it a cheap intro). The current adventuring is forest exploration. A variety of pre-generated characters will be available, with just enough background to provide a motive for being there. If you keep playing (and the character survives), you can develop additional background and character as we go along. If this sounds like something you might be interested, the game is to be found at: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/100381/time-of-heroes-original-mazes-and-minotaurs I am currently running with two players, though I'd like to grow to four or five (six tops).
Hello Artymis, I am trying to put together a campaign for beginners to go through the module "Lost Mine of Phandelver".
