Making unequipped items weightless

Hello! Is there a way to make unequipped items have zero mass, or otherwise not be included in weight calculations? I have a character with has a Bag of Holding that carries all of his unequipped items inside it.

This is something that the character sheet needs to be written to support. I dont know what sheet you are using, but if there isnt a checkbox beside each item in the inventory, you probably cant do it without using a custom sheet (a Pro subscriber feature).

The 5e sheet by roll20 does have a little dot, but it's tough to see. You click that and you get a small list of checkboxes that you can use to unequip the item.

The Equipped checkbox doesn't change the weight carried however. It's more for making sure you are wearing the armor, or shield or magic item that is granting you a bonus or penalty. There are some options. Probably the easiest is to edit the weight. If the item is a 3 lb sword, edit the "3" to say "b3". (for Bag of Holding, 3 lbs). The entry is no longer a number and will not be added to the weight. This doesn't allow you to calculate the amount of weight the bag is holding, though, if it's too much to eyeball. The best solution I know of for that is a second dedicated character sheet called, "Bag of Holding", that has all of the inventory of the bag.

Yeah in most of my games I just give the players a handout and create a table in it. It's a little work, but it keeps it off the sheet.
Hm... Many thanks for the replies. I think I'll just think of what I'm doing right now I sent the bag of holding to -500 mass and we're only worrying about weight until he approaches his original carrying capacity
