How to test what a player will see.

Hello again, I am setting up the R20 VTT for use with my Traveller game, but had a question on how to test as a player. I see the "Sign in as player" But I'm struggling to get the Journal, Character Sheet, Macros, and Abilities to perform how I think would work best. It seems that even when I try to sign in as a player it still seems like it's holding on to my login credentials.  Are there any more documents on how to test one's settings a a player? I feel like I'm missing something, or doing it wrong. Thanks again, I'm very much looking forward to gaming using Roll20 as the online engine.

Louis, As a GM when you edit a character sheet there are two options. The first is who can view the sheet. The second is who can edit it. If it is a GM only sheet you should leave both blank. As a GM you do not need to indicate that you can view/edit the sheet.  If you set who can view the sheet to yourself or all players then as a player you can see the sheet. The same goes for who can edit the sheet. Regarding Macros, they are automatically set to yourself, they are yours so you will see your own 'GM' macros as a player since the system makes no distinction there.  - Gauss
Does it work to setup a dummy account and then using Chrome open another browser window using Incognito mode ? Log in using the dummy account ?
I actually had the same problem when I started fiddling around with the GM'ing the other day.. I just kind of logically went ahead and made a dummy account as warren C above me is suggesting.. except I used another browser to connect.. But yeah invite the dummy user and treat him like a player.. this way I had two browsers up and could immediately see how the change would appear to a player.
Interesting that so many use dummy accounts. Personally I just opened up a second version of the VTT and clicked the "log in as player" button for that one. Voila, that was all I had to do. (I also made a token that I linked to a character sheet controlled by myself, of course) Is there some reason others don't do it this way? (it was all done in the same browser btw)
"It seems that even when I try to sign in as a player it still seems like it's holding on to my login credentials" I haven't ever tried using a dummy account or tried what you did, but Louis said that opening a second VTT browser window didn't work for him.
Hm. Interesting. Wonder what made the difference between the two of us. I use Firefox myself.
Maybe that's the issue, I was just using 2 instances of Chrome. I'll try with Firefox and the dreaded IE to test again, I'll also thing making a dummy account might be the best solution at this time. Thanks for all the help everybody, this is without question the most professional, helpful, and responsive forum I've been involved with. Kudos to you all, and the moderators. Louis
You're quite welcome, and thank you for being so courteous. :)

Instead of relogging as a player then going back to DM then back etc.. unless you mean that you can be logged in as a GM in one window and in another as a player.. If that's what you're getting at the answer is simply, I didn't think of trying that. xD
I log in to my campaign on Roll20 as the GM in one tab in Chrome and then once in, I open a second tab and re-log as a player. It's always worked for me.

GM window maxed on one screen, player window maxed on another. :) Very comfortable and easy to work with.

Maybe the problem for new users is we don't know how to do that. So I finally figured it out: You can make a duplicate tab of the campaign that is running.  In the second tab or browser window  click on the My Settings icon at the top right of the screen.  Then scroll all the way down the side bar and click on the button that says  " Re-join as Player" If you are in a tab as a Player the button will say "Re-join as the GM"
You don't make a duplicate campaign... you open the same one twice, in two different tabs.
Yup that's what I said:    You can make a duplicat e tab   of the campaign that is running It works in Chrome, I guess some browsers don't allow for duplication of an existing tab
