We are an experienced group looking to add one or two players for the long run, to join us for multiple campaigns into the foreseeable future. There is no TL;DR of this post, as we are only interested in informed players that want to invest in a new gaming group and, eventually, in a few new friends. The sections below cover a bit about who we are, about the games we’ve played, and the game we will be playing soon. Lastly, more info is provided on the “application” process. Who we are We’re a multinational gaming group that plays a wide array of RPGs. We meet every Saturday, 6PM GMT, and play in English on Roll20 and Discord. (Three of our American players are on Central time: that’s 1PM in the afternoon for us. This timeslot is long-standing and nonnegotiable, as we must accommodate our European players.) A headset—or a very quiet space—are required for voice chat. There are a total of six of us, with one dedicated GM and one of the five remaining players being an infrequent guest due to recent work commitments—hence the open slot. We have played together for 3-4 years now, and have an established game culture. First and perhaps most notably, we are all adults and might not be the best match for, e.g., a high schooler. We frequently use battlemaps during combat, and often mix the narrative voice with dialogue. While we stay focused on the game and limit discussion of extraneous topics, we regularly speak out of character. Table banter is welcome, but kept as nonintrusive as possible (for example, by typing it in text during GM narration). We aren’t serious when it comes to the tone of our games, but we are in the sense that we meet every week and don’t waste game time. Although we have no strict taboos, we don’t really talk politics at the table out of respect for our (well-known and established) political differences. Some of our players will on rare occasions—and generally in passing—mention their religious beliefs, and these beliefs should be respected. We have access to a wide array of tools for gaming on Roll20. In addition to a Pro subscription and many D&D 5e compendium purchases, I regularly purchase subscriptions to other web tools (for example, I’ve recently been getting a kick out of Inkarnate’s pro maps) and rulebooks, which I share within legal requirements. What we’ve played We first played together in a Changeling: the Lost game that came to a conclusion after about a year. Since then, Chronicles of Darkness has been a recurring setting and system for us, but we have also played other systems. In addition to a long and successful D&D 5e campaign, we have played Call of Cthulhu one-offs, a FATE -based martial arts game, Ars Magica, and are currently playing Coriolis. Within the Chronicles line, we’ve played a full Changeling campaign, multiple Werewolf games, a Mage game, and a short human-only science fiction game. Our campaigns are always original (or heavily adapted) stories, and usually take place in original settings. Our Chronicles games were recently tied together through Mage and are currently left at a cliffhanger—we’ll no doubt return to finish the fight in the future, like our own personal Avengers: Endgame! Our upcoming D&D game will be tied into the world of our previous D&D game, as well. While we try to give our games a fitting conclusion, we have on occasion moved on from a game before it reached a narrative end. Assuming we complete our Chronicles saga, only a small minority of our sessions will have been in a story that was not completed. What we’re playing next Our next game will be our second D&D 5e campaign as a group. A brief introduction to the game, titled “The Age of the Crystal Sun,” follows. It is the central truth of the miko order that the spirits flock to their antithesis, flowing ever downstream towards oblivion. At the great cataract near the mouth of the river H’dur lies the Temple of the Animus, where miko are trained to channel the spirits of heaven and earth. The many warlords of the drow empire of H’durash court favor with the temple, hoping to earn or buy the blessing of a newly anointed priestess. With both a warlord’s armies and the status and mysterious powers of a miko, a feudal nation can break its rivals—or break itself. H’durash is a realm where classic D&D lore intersects with a Tokugawa shogunate-inspired political climate. With the true sun replaced somehow by the crystal goddess Amaterasu, drow are free to rule over the surface races. Unlike drow of the Forgotten Realms, the drow of H’durash do not worship the Spider Queen, Lolth. Rather, they are animists, worshiping the spirits of man and beast, of nature and knowledge. Miko, anointed priestesses, can channel these divine forces, and are treated by the people as demigods. Their male counterparts among the leadership, dark elf warlords with feudal holdings and titles, treat them instead as superweapons. Adventurers in H’durash will largely, though certainly not entirely, be dark elves themselves. Due to the medieval Japanese influence, clerics might as easily be called miko , rogues shinobi, fighters samurai, and monks souhei. A particular bard might be a geisha, and her barbarian friend might be known as an oni. Weapons like shuriken, kanabo, and naginata will be common—alongside the iconic katana. Though any given area will have a number of interesting sites to explore and plenty of people in need, the main story will inevitably involve being drawn into the political schemes of the warlords and their miko. Underlying this conflict is also a dangerous conspiracy whose actions will lead—through their designs or despite them—to the end of the Age of the Crystal Sun. So, you want in on this? Your first step is to post here and in a PM to me that you’re interested. I’ll let you know how to get in touch with me on Discord for a brief introduction. If our applicant count isn’t through the roof, we’ll invite you to play Coriolis with us on an upcoming Saturday, so that you can see what our gaming sessions usually look like and can meet the other players. If everything goes well, we’ll start “The Age of the Crystal Sun” in mid-June!
Hey, I would love to join your game. It will be my first time playing on roll20.
I would like to join your game, although I do not know how to play TRPGs other than D&D.
Hello. Little something about me: I am from the Czech Republic (GMT+2) and I am 19 years old. I have a decent mic so you won't be hearing any buzz. I am in a silent room with thick walls so there will be very little/none background noise from me. I am interested in joining your party. From other tabletop RPGs, I played only the Warhammer 40K one. But I can learn quickly.
