Good day, I've been GM'ing various systems for over a decade now and have been interested for some time in running a game using the Double Cross system, which is a translated Japanese TRPG. I already have one player locked in and need two to four more; knowledge of the system is not required. In fact, players who aren't familiar with the setting are preferred, that way they can all learn about it together. Likewise the players aren't required to own their own rulebooks, I'll provide all the required information. Read the below for more information. Game System and Setting: Double Cross is a modern setting wherein 80% of the world's population has been infected by the Renegade Virus, which exists in a dormant form in most people. Under the right circumstances, this virus awakens and bestows upon the infected various superpowers depending on the strand that infected them, turning them into what is called an Overed. Overeds must constantly play the balancing act between their newfound power and the encroachment of the virus that threatens to turn them into Gjaums, soulless creatures that relentlessly pursues the obsession they had as a human. Due to the threat of rampant Overeds and Gjaums, an international organization known as the UGN (Universal Guardian Network) has been created to combat them from the shadows, pitting Overeds against Overeds. Game starting date: To be determined, likely two weeks from now. Session rate: One per week Session length: Roughly three or four hours Game day: Between Monday and Friday Game time: Around 2-3 PM EST. The above is subject to player availability; feel free to ask if something can be done about your schedule. However, the game cannot be run during the weekend. Will be required from players: -A sufficient familiarity with written English. You don't need to be able to write a novel, but you need to able to write a paragraph without egregious spelling mistakes. This is because all in-character interaction is to be done via text; voice-chat between players is allowed, but not mandatory. -A relatively consistent schedule. Offline issues springing up suddenly can happen to all of us of course. -A willingness to RP seriously while keeping IC and OOC matters separate. Pure combat games can be entertaining, but Double-Cross is not made for that playstyle. -Players must be able to accept the loss of their characters. I'm not a particularly harsh GM, but Double Cross is a system where losing a PC can happen from time to time. -Double Cross is a setting heavily inspired by various Japanese anime, so you need to enjoy or at least tolerate that kind of thing. GM Request: If you're interested and aren't familiar with Double Cross, please don't go read the rulebooks. I would like the players to discover things together, and the rulebook front-loads a lot of setting information that isn't widely known. If you decide that the system isn't your cup of tea during chargen, no one will hold that against you. If you are already familiar with Double Cross, let me know ahead of time and be aware that you'll have to be good at keeping OOC information out of your IC actions. If you're interested or have a question, feel free to contact me either through this thread or a private message.
