Welcome, friends. You hold in your hands a roleplaying game, one that asks you a very important question. Is a man not entitled to the grandest of adventure? 'No!' says the man with the neckbeard, 'it would be unbalanced.' 'No!' says the man in the high heels, 'it wouldn't be deep enough.' 'No!' says the man on the internet 'the new edition ruins everything.' I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... DUNGEONS THE DRAGONING, a game where the fighter would not fear the wizard, where the cleric would not be nerfed, where the great would not be constrained by the small! And with the roll of your dice, DUNGEONS THE DRAGONING can be your game as well. - Dungeons the Dragoning introduction Introduction Hello! I am looking for a group of 4-5 players to play some Dungeons: the Dragoning 40,000 7th Edition. Now to answer what exactly IS this game to put it simply, its a mixture of everything. It uses themes from Warhammer rpg, Exalted, World of Darkness, Planescape, Spelljammer and much more. As for how its played, you use ten-sided dice. Whenever the Story Master tells the player to make a Test, the player rolls a number of dice, throws them, and counts up the results. You almost always want to roll high, so rolling more dice is good. There are two kinds of dice you'll need to keep track of: Rolled and Kept . To make a Test, you roll a number of dice and then keep only some of them. For example, a Test might ask you to roll five dice and keep three. You'd roll a total of five dice and keep the highest three, adding them together. The two lowest dice would be discarded. The shorthand for this is XkY. For Roll five, Keep three, it would be 5k3. Whenever you roll a 10 on a die, that die explodes. You reroll the die and add it to the result. For example, if you roll a 10, then reroll it and get a 6, that single die rolled a 16. If you roll consecutive 10s, continue rolling until you get a result other than 10, then add all the results together for the total. No matter how many times it explodes, it only counts as one die for the purposes of number of die kept. All Tests are made against a target number. If the result is greater than that target number, then the Test is successful. If not, the action fails. For more information about how the game works such as character creation and combat I'd recommend looking at the 1d4chan page regarding Dungeons: the Dragoning. You can also find a download link for Books 1 & 2 there as well. https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Dungeons:_the_Dragoning_40,000_7th_Edition Character Creation To begin making a character you select which characteristic types (Physical, Mental, Social) are your Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary characteristics (like WoD). Every characteristic has 1 dot minimum and you distribute dots to your characteristics, with how much depends on the characteristics group priority. 6 dots to your Primary, 4 dots to your Secondary, and 2 dots to your Tertiary characteristics. Now skills, skill begin with 0 dots by default and, much like the characteristics above, how much dots you can add to each group of skills depends on the priority you set for the group. 8 dots to your Primary, 6 dots to your Secondary, and 4 dots to your Tertiary skills. The next step is race and exaltation selections. Race's provide extra dots to skills and characteristics, as well as have special abilities. For example, if you select an Ork as your race then you can increase you Strength or Willpower by 1 dot and increase your Intimidation and Scrutiny skills by 1 dot. The ork special ability is WAAAAAGH! - At the beginning of each combat, heal hit points equal to your level. As for Exaltation's, they are the thing that makes your character stand out. There are billions of orks but your ork is one of the few orks that is acting as a host for a daemon. Exaltation's give your special abilities or allow to take certain skills without needing to meet the requirements, which are powered by a resource stat. What the resource is and how to regain spent resource depends on your exaltation. Classes define what your character can advance in. Once you have selected a class you cant change class or level up something outside your class until you fully complete your current class, completing a class is defined by obtaining all the feats associated with that class. Once you are able to switch classes you can so long as you meet any prerequisites that the new class requires and is only 1 level above your current character level. If you are level 1 then level 1 and 2 classes can only be selected. Races: Human, Aasimar, Tiefling, Eldarin, Dark Eldarin, Elf, Ork, Dragonborn, Squat, Halfling, Tau, Gnome, Thri-Keen, Kenku, Kobold, Dryad. Exalted States: Vampire, Werewolf, Atlantean, Paragon, Chosen, Promethian, Daemonhost, Wraith, Dragonblooded. Classes: Fighter, Magic-User, Rogue, Cleric, Peasant, Mercenary, Ratcatcher, Scholar, Initiate, Bard, Assassin, Guardsman, Paladin, Barbarian, Courtier, Monk, Druid, Arcane Knight, Magitek Gunman, Sniper, Sheriff, Heavy, Tech-Priest All these in addition to Feats, Racial Feats, Assets, Hindrances, Spells, Spell Combos, Psychic Phenomena, Perils of the Warp, Sword Schools and Gun Kata The Game Looking for 4-5 players. The game I plan of running its mainly up to you the players. Do you want to play as hero's going from place to place righting wrongs or as a band of void pirates preying on the weak and foolish? All I ask from you the player is for balance in terms of types of play. i.e. Not being to silly or not being to grimdark (I dont want to DM your revenge fantasies and dont want to run a game where people go "lol random" and set fire to things). Other then that, the story and world will mostly be moulded around the PC's instead of the other way around. The game time can start from anywhere between 11:00am to 7:00pm PDT on Saturdays or Sundays depending on people availability. Session length can vary but I plan for sessions to last 3-4 hours. Discord will be the app we will be using to communicate and a link will be provided once you are accepted. If you are interested please provide a character concept and at least some form of short term goal to get the ball moving. I am more then willing to walk people through the system and answer any questions since that game is what can be best described as a "Frankenstein's monster".
