[LFP][5E][D&D][PAID]Lost Mine of Phandelver (Spots still open!) - Wednesday 8pm CST

Hello there, I am a DM with 30-years of experience running role-playing experience (since 1983) who is also an English PhD student who studies role-playing games. I am looking for players to fill out my Wed Lost Mines of Phandelver game which still has spots open! Lost Mines of Pandelver (Weekly, Wednesdays 8pm-12am CDT) https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/162837/lost-mine-of-phandelver-wednesday The games will require payment to the Game Master, via PayPal, at a rate of $8 per session, paid before the session, or a one time fee of $40 for the full campaign, paid before the first session (ideally, June 12). Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. If you're interested in the game, please go to the listings, let me know a little about you , your roleplaying experience (none is required), and why you would like to join the game! Feel free to ping me with any questions you might have :) I'm very much looking forward to playing with new friends... About Me I'll admit charging money to play D&D is a little weird. As mentioned above, I'm an academic who found themself without a summer teaching job. In lieu of bartending/painting houses/waiting tables, etc, I thought I would run some D&D games to cover expenses. D&D and RPGs are the basis of my academic study and also my passion. I have a long history of running games and currently run a long-running 1E game. Although this is my first time as a "pro" DM, I have dungeon mastered for 30 years, for players of nearly every background and level of experience - and I love welcoming new players into role-playing. I have DMed at conventions such as GaryCon and DunDraCon and volunteer for an organization which teaches high school students role-playing. I'm laid back, easy-going, and invested in making sure my players have a good time. About my DM style I love both role-playing and roll-playing. My games are a very even balance between creating unique narratives and challenging tactical encounters. I love watching players evolve and develop their characters, and I provide as much opportunity as possible to do so. I believe there should be stakes for play; although I'll tailor any game to the experience level of my players, you should expect to be challenged and to rely on your wits and creativity to vanquish your foes. I also think that many of the best stories in RPGs come from when things don't work out like you imagined... ...I also don't take any game too seriously, and ask my players not to. RPing is fun and a place to build communities. All I expect from my players is you keep your commitments, treat everyone with respect, and acknowledge that everyone in the group - including your paid but still fallible DM - is a person. I admit it's a bit weird taking money to DM, but I promise I'll never miss a session, and will keep us focused while having fun! About the Games If you're new to D&D, you couldn't pick a better adventure to start with then The Lost Mines of Phandelver . It's an introductory adventure designed to get you up-to-speed on the game's mechanics and how role-playing works. It's also one of the best adventures I've run - I love it and it also gives a terrific introduction to the Forgotten Realms. I don't know how long the full game would be, but I would expect 10-12 4-hour sessions should do it (if you pay for the full game, extra sessions are included!) You can make your own character, or use one of the ones provided. You'll take them (barring calamity) all the way to fifth level during the campaign... Games will be played using Roll20 for VTT and Discord for voice. Again, if you have any questions, ping me! If you want to apply for the game, visit their LFG listing (links above) and click in the forum. I'm very much looking forward to meeting new players! Apshai
I'm still very interested in this. I believe I sent a reply to a previous incarnation of this post (commenting on how your Ph.D. background gels nicely with my own game theory interests). If you've passed on my reply, no worries...just wanted to try again in case I was missed! Best of luck and fun, and hope to hear from you, Apshai!
We still need 2 more brave souls!
