[LFP][PDT][5e][FREE][HOMEBREW] [Through the solemn glow of the morning light, the man sparks his cigar. Thick blankets of fog envelope the room, drifting from the ashtray as he stifles the end of his breakfast stogie against the cool glass on his desk. The wind beckons the smoke, pulling it from its roost at the end of the man's lips towards the beaded curtain and out into the next room. The wind is an odd occurrence here, an unnatural presence, but as the young receptionist coughs the vile smoke from her lungs she is rejoiced by the winds calming presence. Together the ash and the gust find comfort in the open square, as the citizens of Nal Ildrar carry on with their morning. From the way the passerby carries themselves you'd never know today was an anniversary, a fifteen-year celebration of peace and true neutrality. From the salt flats of Felvadell to the lightning struck peaks of the Burim mountain ranges there is a shift in the skies, a coolness to the breeze uncommon to the people of the many nations. After fifteen years of peace, one would think those scarred by it would remember today but as the ash and the gust travel from the east to the west, from the coasts of the Burning City to the volcanic shores of Taipoi, it seems that all have forgotten. All except the wind of course, and a man by the name of Labaris Atabak. As the sun sets in the desert sky the smoke finds its home once more, on the lips of the man with the butt of a cigar clung to his teeth and a wide, tusk-filled smile spread from cheek to cheek. His sand speckled boots find purchase on the rotted and water stained surface of his desk as he runs his sweaty mutts over a pile of scattered papers. The chime of a bell sounds from the front door once more as the man hears his secretary stand to great the client, the sign of the building clattering against its post as the door slams shut. L.I.C.H, it reads. Short, of course, for "Labaris & Igaell's Coopertive for Hire; below average detective work since 138TC". The sign hangs loosely from its hinges, its tattered appearance a reflection of the business it represents. The people of Nal Ildrar rest soundly in their beds, but Labaris works through the night, for he has not forgotten what happened fifteen years ago today, or what evil forces lurk in the light of tomorrows dawn. Another war calls from the horizon, the wind at its side as it sounds a call to anyone who will listen. An army is needed, an army of below average ability and a desperate need for coin if Labaris wants to be on the winning side, and as of today, he has chosen his newest detectives] Welcome to L.I.C.H a homebrew campaign centred around a small desert city and a rundown detective agency looking to hire. The world is completely homebrew and plays heavily of elemental based nations, with alignments and environments a little bit out of the norm of D&D. Fifteen years ago a war ended, a war that united all the nations, but without a mutual enemy the nations are at ends, conflicts are starting to arise and perhaps another war is on the horizon. Labaris Atabak is a man truly untrustworthy of anything but the words from his own mouth and is heavily suspicious of the true cause of the great war. When a client steps through their front door with a plea for help and a willingness to pay any price a simple case starts to unravel a fifteen-year-old thread of lies that may be the key to all his questions and perhaps the biggest score L.I.C.H has ever seen. Note: I primarily run campaigns that are heavily centred around characters and their backstories, so, as of now the 'main mystery' is only a preliminary group of notes in a notebook in my room, the true mystery will be fully fleshed out later and revolving around the characters. Few things you should know before applying: • I am located in the PDT time zone and in my experience a lot of players are from the opposite coast so most likely games will be weekends of nights on weekdays to work with everyone's different time zone, there is currently no date set for first game but I would love to have things up and running by next weekend. • There may be some mild cussing so if that isn't your usual environment may consider that before applying. • I am NOT gonna ask you to apply with a character you'd like to play because due to the homebrew aspect a lot of standard races and classes may have a twist to them. So if ya' ain't into homebrew beware o_o • I really love to have new players in games! As a DM with two years of experience I love new perspectives so please don't be afraid if you've never played before • Lastly, I love light-hearted roleplay and humour. Be prepared for some in-depth world building but also come prepared with a sense of humour, the game won't be a dungeon crawl or super high fantasy. Think of it may as a weird Avatar: The Last Airbender/Sherlock hybrid? The story might get dark but expect some platypus bears. Okay, that's all for my little rant. Thanks for checking out L.I.C.H!
