Hey there! GM with 7 years experience, looking to play alongside work/life by running a more flexible game/community. Currently looking for players interested in a persistent-y world style D&D experience. Things you'll need to know: - Game times/days: Games will generally run on weekdays from 6pm GMT (+1) onwards. Not going to get anymore specific than that. Some games might run on weekends, some might run at other times. Sessions will usually be 4 hours long, but may be a bit longer/shorter depending. Games should take place once a week at least. The games themselves probably won't start for at least a few weeks, quite probably a little while longer than that. So if you are interested, please be patient for things to be sorted out. - Platform: Roll20 will be used (of course) for the game itself. Discord will also be used to keep in touch with all the other players/things going on. Sessions will either be in Text/Voice, in case some people would like to arrange a Text only session one week, that won't be an issue. - Groups/Characters: Sessions will be run for 6 players at a time. Players will be able to make a number of characters, split between 'Adventuring' and 'Non-Adventuring'. Characters that are created for 'Adventuring' will start at level 1 and progress much like your everyday D&D. These will be the characters that join in on sessions. 'Non-Adventuring' characters will be additions to the world, basically becoming player-driven NPCs. Want to play a quest giving guard captain/merchant/arch-mage? Not a problem! Want to make one of the BBEGs or BBGGs? Sure thing. Extra RP and creating a 'living world' will be key to the community. Essentially, everyone can be a mini-GM in their own right, I'll just be running the sessions and adjudicating. - Rules/Books: There will be an extensive document provided of extra 'house-rules' for the game. This will be expanded upon and edited throughout the game where the need arises. Any 3.0, 3.5 and PF material will be converted to be (roughly by my fallible approximation) balanced for the game itself. Fluff trumps RAW, and whimsy might replace standard cheese-mongering for the sake of sanity and playability. I would rather munchkins tell me what they're up to prior to actually enacting their munchkin deeds, just so we can all come to an understanding and compromise so everyone can have fun. Due to the variation of players and characters, I'm sure sub-optimal and optimized parties can adventure in their own ways. Expect the game to be a long one, as time spent in session will be allotted to those who couldn't play in downtime. Characters will be expected to age and possibly even die. Any character that does cop it, their player will have half that characters EXP recorded and any new 'Adventuring' characters will appear with that amount of EXP with appropriate wealth. - Setting/Fluff: The game will primarily be set in Waterdeep and the Sword Coast, but I'm totally good with exploring other areas, both fleshed out and no. This could go all the way from Amn to Kara-Tur, Maztica to the Planes. Whichever way the wind blows honestly. The starting date (for you lore junkies) will be 1314 DR, the ascent of Piergeiron the Paladinson as Open Lord of Waterdeep. Just five years after the Year of Thunder, and the resurgence of the Dwarven people. Just thirty until the Retreat of the Elven people of the Cormanthor. There's probably a bunch more things that could/should be said, but I can't think of any right now off the top of my head. If you're interested or would like some more information, please drop me a PM or respond below! I'll get back to you as soon as I remember to check Roll20. Thanks! Good fortune to you all, adventurers.
