Hi there,
We are looking for 2-3
players to join a narrative focused campaign using the 'Blades in the
Dark' hack ' Scum and Villainy' for a base rule set. The planned
times for play are Tuesdays roughly 7-8pm (GMT), opened to
discussion. As well as the Roll20 comms, we have a Mumble server and a Riot chat server we use for Voip.
The style that we
enjoying playing in sees all players being both characters in, and
directors of their own TV series. While the GM is the world and plays
the NPC characters in the story, all players are free to suggest and
describe things happening in the world and to other characters, so
long as it does not break the world logic already defined in previous
sessions.
While rules are
important and help maintain the game, for us they are there to
facilitate interesting situations and decisions for our characters.
This just means making a good narrative game that everyone is
enjoying is more important than following any rules written down in a
book to the letter. If this sounds like the style of game you enjoy
too, get in touch!
So the game set in a
sci-fi universe, initially focused around the main town on a single
planet. Something we have found works well is to start small and
allow the game to build to its climaxes naturally. This allows us to
enjoy the characters and their stories at each level, growing
alongside them.
We have created the
broad strokes of a world where the story starts. What characters we
focus on in this world is up to the players, and will be decided on
the first session. There are no real limits on characters, we
encourage pulling at what ever strings seem interesting to you. The
world and the story will be developed collectively in play, week by
week.
The idea...
Centuries ago, the
giant gas-storm planet Melora I-61 imploded, sending radiation storms
out through space in all directions. These Radiations storms
drastically changed the biosphere of near by Planet RD-6, the storms
mixed with the native thick red dust to turn a baron and quiet planet
into a volatile but mineral rich planet. Now a material that has come
know as ' Blood of the earth' has given those who can survive the
storms a chance to make something of themselves.
Now the town of red
field sits at the center of a burgeoning civilization, sitting on a
rich trove of rare materials it is set to make an impressive entry to
the wider galactic community. But that shouldn't be for a few
centuries yet, an authority known as the Interlink group manage the
entry of new planets to the wider community.
Redfield is famed for
scientific advances in their own right, all however are closely
monitored to be in line with Interlink groups schedules. If any
sudden advances that allowed for dramatic increases in warfare,
communication, transport or any other fronts, this would be cause for
concern. With this in mind the Interlink Group rely on Morvello and
his collective of integrated agents in Redfield, they have no
governmental role in Redfield but hold a high reputation as friends
of the Redfield people. They act as an on the ground force to either
reward or punish activity that effects the schedule of the Interlink
Group.
Alongside this exists a
culture built on old traditions mixed with rapid scientific
advancements, a culture of reputation has arisen, where people are
rewarded by the community for providing things of cultural value.
This could mean a new piece of technology, solving great problems,
finding treasures of the desert, or even surviving a storm and having
a good story to tell. This has created a 'Gentlemans class' who can
rely on community generosity and not always be prepared to survive in
the harsh red world. If any of this sounds interesting to you, get in touch!
