I feel a bit bad for saying it but we are going to make the characters together during a session. Partially for the possibility to make team characters, but I will also ad some restrictions on what character backgrounds you can play. It also helps me at a GM to remember the characters if I was there when they where created. However, if you really like the character we can make it work with some changes. As a requirement, all characters have the Deliberate Experimentation background and still live with the organization (called GG-X). They are treated well, but with restrictions, but they might not all be happy about their situation.
That's OK. I just like doing character creation for fun. I can do another.
I would like we're all different species just because it's my opinion since the Turtles themselves cornered the market of same species team and...It just makes things more colorful and fun if we're not all the same species, variety is the spice I totally get what you're saying about needing to be their at the moment of creation and I just want to say...FINALLY I get to be Deliberate Experimentation! Seems almost every time I roll a character I get 'Accidental Exposure'
One of the books you have on PDF is Mutants of the Yucatan right?
I also want to say I really appreciate you are a GM with some kind of plan for the story instead of it being totally open since I like RP for the story more than racking up kills your idea has me excited&nbsp;
Letmeseee….yeah I have the Yucatan as a PDF:)
OK but later I decided I'm want to roll from the Road Hogs Tables
Lols...well the important thing is that you end up with a character that you like.&nbsp; As long as no one goes with the really wierd stuff (like the mutated dinos)
I just realized the Road Hogs list is like the core ruleboook but better, or maybe it's my bias because I live in the Western United States
Well I will not go all viking and force you to play all Swedish animals.
I guess the biggest motivator is I borrowed a book of fairy tales from the library the stories mention vultures and donkeys both of which are templates in Road Hogs
And also some of the REALLY obscure animals that are in the other books like Australian Mulgaras and South American Agoutis well...Thinking about the story you set up my mind thought it would probably make more sense if your secret organization which is located in North America kept in limited to North American Animals and common zoo animals
was wondering if there was any creation stuff we can do beforehand to make things go easier during creation.&nbsp; Chosing species (I was thinking a badger or mink)? anything else we could do?
I don't know how familiar you are with TMNT and Other Strangeness but normally you don't choose your species it is randomly determined from rice rolls you can get anything from Mouse to Elephant
rolling is always an option.&nbsp; shoot if A GM really wanted to, no dice would have to be rolled at all for character creation.
Yes but, in an earlier post the GM said he wants to witness character creation at the first session so he can memorize it better
I made a joke that random character generation is the best cure for Mary-Sue creators 'Oh you want to be a sexy cat-girl? your dice rolls say you're a Mutant Gorilla with an IQ of 3'
Spread the word to the Stealthy Stories TMNT Fanfiction Forum, someone was asking to RP (Normally it means RP on the forum itself)
But is there anything GM wants us to do before the game?
It would be great if you went through the animal lists and the backgrounds to see if there are any particular ones you either like or dislike. I think it is important that everyone gets characters they like, so it is a bit of pick and choose.&nbsp; Randomnes is cool though, and you can get great stuff out from doing that, so I would ask people to consider general ideas like: "I want to play a predatory mammal" "I want to play a stealthy animal" "birds are cool...except for ducks" "anything that is really big and brutal"
I think I only have like one or two animals I don't want to play and those are for highly personal reasons otherwise the random selection would help me choose because nearly everything looks good that's how much of an animal lover I am
I was hoping for something like a badger, mink, wolverine, otter, beaver.... something along those lines swimming/digging.&nbsp; As for his role in the group depends on stats and education.&nbsp; Didn't know what the direction the organization was going towards training and goals for the characters.&nbsp; IE are they all highly trained with high education, or trained as assassins or something entirely different. Didnt know how you were doing attributes as well, roll down the line starting at IQ or if roll 8 attributes and allow to place as they wish.&nbsp; I have no problem any way it is done.&nbsp; Also not sure if aware of any "fixes" on rules such as if you roll 16, 17, 18 and get bonus die that if roll a 6 on that you can add another bonus die... again if roll 6 again you get another bonus.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Max bonus dice is equal to number of dice rolled for initial stats (3d6). so starting stats actually can have a range from 3 to 36.
I was thinking about using the D&amp;D style. That is: Roll 4d6 and remove the lowest. It will (usually) giva an above-avg. character. I also like rolling a range of values and then putting them on the attributes you want I was not aware of any fixes to the bonus dice, but I think that limiting it to one bonus die is a good idea. If you roll a 6 on the bonus die, your value is 22 at the lowest, so adding more on top of that feels like a game breaker, especially with anyone doing team-characters. That said...I want people to have good characters. This is&nbsp; a hero-game after all, so if you roll poorly Ill probably let you re-roll. Then there is the math-part I currently use excel for character sheets.&nbsp; There is a lot of modifiers and changes to organize, from size level, bonus dice, team bonus, training, animal type etc. ...excel is good for this. I am working on a program to help out with everything, but for the moment it just handles some npc-stuff.
Robert while I do tend to be a 'Random Roll Purest' at times I do appreciate you're a fan of the musteliads, I don't hate canines and felines but I am kind of sick of how in the Anthro Animal Fandom there are too many of them 'The Puppy and Kitty Overlords' I call them Wolf Fans have even gotten their own slur 'Wolfaboos'
One thing I just thought of...The Mutants are treated well, with some restrictions, I thought should we think about what hobbies our Characters would have in their down time? Like since in this story we all have the same origin so Species aside we should think about our characters personalities, I was thinking my character is kind of a quiet introverted artist type and likes to draw or write stories in her free time
I have to wait for stats, animal type, and education to really get my personality.&nbsp; &nbsp;But don't worry after rpging for almost 40 years as both players and GM, as well as having multiple personalities in real life LOL, I can develop a personality quickly..
I believe in this game Animal Type isn't as important to personality as other games (I mean in the Comics there is a Guru Rat, a Pacifist Crocodile and Four Turtles are a Honor-Bound Leader and Hothead Warrior, an Adorkable Nerd and a Party Dude which is pretty far from all those animals' traditional stereotypes,)
well if I am a weasel or ferret I would act more twitchy,&nbsp; a beaver or otter would spend more time near water (pool, river, or even pool/hot tub), a wolverine or badger a little more of a loner and maybe more short tempered.&nbsp; etc...
Hey that's cool, I can follow a stereotype or do the opposite depending on what I need from a particular character, besides I think regardless of what I get I can make my character an artist as we have all kinds of artists from introverts to extroverts sweeties to grumps&nbsp;
true, very true.&nbsp; I just think someones animal would give them a Natural inclination towards personality... though no matter what, my guy LOVES pizza LOL
Though toppings may very...Are you of the opinion Herbivores should at least be lacto-ovo vegetarians because the idea of a Cow eating beef disturbs me.
sort of... cows have been seen to eat chickens and other birds. True herbivores are rare (though I prefer Medium LOL) and birds eat eggs and bird carcasses when given opportunity, and chimpanzees eat monkeys and other chimps.&nbsp; But like other intelligent beings, they have the choice of what they eat.
Yeah I know that's all true but I also remember asking a horse owner what happens if a Horse were to eat a lot of meat and she said they would get liver disease&nbsp;
Simba couldn't wait to be king and I'm struggling to wait for this game, I also haven't thought that much about education because if we're all raised by the same organization (Possibly with different roles) but I think it's important that your character has a personality outside the role assigned to you what you are vs who others want you to be once again the Turtles were all raised to be Ninjas by Splinter but all four of them have different personalities and interests&nbsp;&nbsp;
personality is a composite of your life experiences, including education, nature, nurture.&nbsp; your stats also come into play (nature)&nbsp; If you are highly intelligent probably act much different than low intelligence, and if have high strength may act more bully than low strength or be so gentle because always worried about hurting someone.&nbsp; &nbsp; I just use so many factors for personality.&nbsp; Just have to wait until character creation.&nbsp; Maybe my guy will not like yours thinking you were the favorite, or even have a secret crush.&nbsp; Who knows. :)
depending on education levels, what kind of role were you thinking for character?&nbsp; I was thinking engineer type if have high education.
What I have wanted to do for a while in RP is the diplomat role, role more about talking than fighting, or at least try to talk first before fighting
Food wise I like to make my Mutant as different from the Turtles as I can, I pizza not my favorite food the character I made last time, made her favorite food corn chips and hot sauce so I'll probably give my new character a sweet tooth when the 2003 TMNT series aired the Turtles who weren't Michelangelo got favorite foods that weren't pizza Donatello got sushi Leonardo got apples and Raphael for some reason got cereal&nbsp;
Every morning I am a coffee addicted hamster :P
real life still pizza :) even though lactose intolerant.&nbsp; thank god for Lactaid
Yeah I like Pizza&nbsp; but in RL my favorite thing is cheeseburgers
This is something I've toyed with in my fanfiction carnivore mutants limiting their meat consumption to fish because they've come to the conclusion that inside every cow, pig and chicken is a potential scientist or artist that only needs mutagen to be unlocked
Racist... You don't see Salmon, Tuna, Pufferfish, Koi, Swordfish, etc... reaching their full potential?&nbsp; Shoot unlike the majority of you land dwellers we fish spend our entire lives in schools...&nbsp;
Tee Hee Hee, well Octopus was the only water breathing animal hat can an official template
That is because octopus can survive out of water for an hour or so... without mutation.&nbsp; Remember whales and walrus were in road hogs as well.&nbsp; But giving a fish ability to breath out of water for extended time would probably cost a lot of BIO-E.&nbsp; How about plants?&nbsp; a sentient venus flytrap or cherry tree or even a wise Sequoia.
This is a chapter from my fanfic 'The Tearing of the Veil' which has the Turtles talking about this very issue <a href="https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12430471/54/The-Tearing-of-the-Veil" rel="nofollow">https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12430471/54/The-Tearing-of-the-Veil</a>
One major thing of note... Cannibalism is not the eating of meat, or even eating of other species... It is the consumption of your own species.&nbsp; So Human eating Human, not eating turtle soup.&nbsp; So a cow eating a hamburger is cannibalism, a cow eating a turkey leg is not, even if that turkey was more intelligent than Einstein and Hawking put together.&nbsp;&nbsp; So a nice roast goose for Christmas is only truly morally wrong if it is a goose eating dinner.
Hahahaha But are we gonna have a session this Sunday?
I believe Jens stated so, same time we started last week.
