Against all odds, two of my players actually survived and went on to legendary status. Now, their characters are forever immortalized in book 2 of the Ruin Saga. Yes, I am an author and yes, there is a chance you will be featured in one of my books within the Ruin series. Some history of the universe - Ruin is a world recovering from a great war over ten thousand years ago followed by a gradual decline. Once, it was a paradise populated by many millions of souls and technology far beyond that of today. Though little is known ten thousand years later, we know that there was a great conflict that ended in the sundering of Ruin, the appearance of the storm walls, and the gradual decline of the environment. Today, Ruin is mostly desert, but the land is healing. The people are as hard as one would expect from a land that gives nothing and takes everything. You are one such inhabitant. Will you take up the banner of a warrior and stand for one of the great empires? Perhaps you will insert yourself into the underground of one Ruin's many cities and work your way to crime boss status. Or maybe adventure is your muse and you seek to unlock the secrets of pre-fall civilization and find an artifact that would let you retire rich and fat. The choice is yours. Here are some basic bits of info to help you understand this universe on a logical level. Era: Roughly late 1800's tech Setting: A mix of steampunk and dune with a sprinkling of Mad Max. At least that's what one of my book reviewers said. System: We will be using Genesys. If you have played Star Wars: EotE, you will be very familiar with it. If not, it's an abstract system and easy to learn. I will help you the whole way. Times/Dates: We meet every Thursday at 8PM Pacific/11PM Eastern. Games go roughly 2 hours. I realize this is a bit late for you USA east coast dwellers, but I am a fulltime father and my kid goes to bed right around 8. Story: Campaign 2 will be more urban than the first was. Our first campaign was mostly spent in the desert or on a landship. This one will have much greater focus on the various cities across southern Ruin. If you have any questions, please reach out to me on PM or ask them here. I am happy to answer. Oh and, you do not need to read the book prior to playing. As the creator of this universe, there is plenty of content in my head to spin up a fun story. Hopefully my prior players will come by and offer their input on the last campaign. We did retain a group of 4 throughout the entire 8 weeks though which is rare on roll20 in my experience. haha. Thanks all and I hope to see you in game. We have 2 spots left as 4 are staying from campaign 1 and making new characters! If you do like to read, the book is on my site. Edit: I'm not allowed to link externally. Hehe.
This sounds really cool! I've never played Genesys, but I've done VtM, CoC, DnD, and Dungeon World so I should be able to pick up another system alright. Is this a human-only sort of campaign, or are there other races? Is there any magic involved? I'm cool with or without the more fantastical elements, but they're good things to know.
Human only with the exception of clockwork men. As for magic...we experimented with it a bit on NPCs last campaign to pretty good success. They are called "Awakened" and have control over one of the primary elements. However, they are not available to players just yet. The game is in beta and I am adding features with each new campaign. If you've read the book, there is another non-human race, but in the era it is not yet discovered.
This sounds super interesting. I have definitely wanted to roleplay a setting similar to the one you have described for a while. I don't know anything about the system but would definitely be excited to learn if you still need another player.
We have two spots left. See the campaign link above and post there so I can send you an invite. Thanks!
Thanks all. The game is full. After this campaign, I will be breaking up into smaller 3 man sessions. For those who missed this round, I'll catch you on those!
