The Game: D&D5e (or Pathfinder if people are interested) Play Time: Afternoon and Evenings, Weekdays EST, weekly with a break every few weeks (My schedule is flexible, so this is a placeholder.) Players: 4-5 Voice Chat: Discord or Skype Hombrew w/approval, and encouraged New Players Welcome Hello everyone, I don't have a solid campaign idea. Instead my plan is to form a group of players who are interested in the style of game I want to run. Then using their feedback I'll come up with several campaign pitches for players to vote on and proceed from there. Note that the story elements are not yet decided. While I intend to work the game so each player has something to engage with, please don't have your heart set on anything too specific. What I need from you: As I mentioned, I haven't created anything specific for this game. I want to know what interests you as a player, what systems and situations you want to engage with, why, and build the campaign around that. As a starting point think of a classic D&D setting and variate from there. Basic Info: Name, Play Schedule, Experience with TTRPG's etc What are you looking for in a game?: Story elements, themes, character class, play styles, goals, mechanics, combat, politics, and what about them interests you. What inspires you?: Music, games, movies, content creators, hobbies, etc. What can I use to get into your mindset about TTRPG's. Anything else? This is purely up to your discretion. About the DM and My Playstyle: My name is Ethan and I am 22 years old. I've been playing TTRPG's for about 6 years and DMing on and off for 3. I don't think it is useful to think of a game as being combat or roleplay heavy. I think combat should facilitate roleplay and social encounters should be approached tactfully. I intend to run all encounters so that they are engaging and create drama. I like the decision making that comes from dealing with limits. This includes character flaws, carrying capacity, and the law of unintended consequences. I hope to encourage certain styles of play with mechanical benefits. For example, I wish tool proficiencies were more useful in 5e. So if a player is interested I would make (or steal) a more in depth crafting system and allow created items to grant useful benefits as appropriate. I encourage open communication within the group. If you have an something you want to try, ask. If there is a problem with the game or another player, address it. I will try to be forthcoming with information and not let an obscure rule or lack of clarity penalize a player. This is a cooperative game. Please be willing to compromise and make decisions that work best for the group. I don't wish to discourage party conflict, as it can be great for storytelling, but talk with the party before doing something potentially detrimental. I play RPG's to have fun and be engaged. I try to stay focused without taking things too seriously and let the tone establish itself. I consider everything above a guideline and am willing to implement any changes based on the group. I apologize if this isn't much to go on, but I think D&D should be a cooperative experience ...and I'm also just indecisive. If you're interested in playing, have any questions, or have any critiques about the post feel free to message me or post below. I may start a thread in 'Join a Game' if enough people are interested.
