[LFP][FTP][DnD5e] Short Wednesday Afternoon Campaign

Game:  D&D 5e Group type:  Online / Roll20 + Discord (DnDBeyond optional) Experience:  4 months minimum Location/Timezone:  EST (GMT -5:00) Schedule:  Wednesday afternoons 3:00 p.m EST - 6:00 p.m EST beginning Wednesday, July 10th Roles sought:  1-2 players Game style:  RP-Focused with 1-2 combats per session. If you don't enjoy RP, don't apply. This will be a short campaign spanning several weeks and starting at ninth level. Players will return to a large town in their past to reconnect with the kleptomaniac/drug addict-turned-nobleman Asher Cuma to witness his coming of age and reclaimed lifestyle. More will be revealed in your 1 on 1 with me via discord, so feel free to prepare some questions for me. Disclaimer - I've put a lot of time and effort not only into this campaign but into this post in order to successfully provide a fun environment come game day. You are expected to read the entire post and reasonably meet every expectation listed below in order to prove to me that you are willing to put forth the effort to make this game fun for everyone. If it's blatantly clear to me that you don't intend to take this seriously in either your application or your 1-on-1 with me via discord, you will not be invited to this game. Thank you for reading, and I hope the below piques your interest. Character creation - I allow homebrew races (though they are subject to my tampering) but only  official classes.  Changelings are disallowed. - Monks are rogues instead gain an additional ASI/Feat at seventh level instead of their typical class feature. If everyone enjoys the campaign enough and we decide to keep running it, this rule will be dropped. If you are curious about why I am implementing this rule temporarily, feel free to ask via discord. - Evil characters, brooders, loners, and characters that are disinclined to help the party are discouraged and are unlikely to receive the okay from me. - You may roll for stats 3 times and take the block of your choice, or opt for an enhanced standard array. You must roll in front of me, and after your first roll, you may not choose point buy or standard array. - Play a character that you want to play; not one that the party is lacking.  - Know your character in your head; not just on paper,  including alignment.  Your knowledge of your character  will  influence my decision to let you join the game. - If you want to retexture or rename anything without changing the mechanics to better suit your character, run it by me and I'll almost definitely say yes. Game Rules - Know how to  play, be it understanding the rules, understanding your alignment, or cooperating with a group. - If you disagree with a ruling, you are encouraged to bring it up. I will try to be fair, but that being said, if you rules lawyer or complain, you may be asked to leave. - Do not initiate party conflict without first asking other players publicly. If you attempt to do so, other players will be given the opportunity to veto your action. You may use deception and stealth rolls against other players by asking me privately if you'd like, but you may not attempt to steal from other players or influence them with persuasion or intimidation rolls without their consent. - Be respectful, and exercise good judgment.  - Keep your turns under thirty seconds in combat, and know how to play your character. - "It's what my character would do," is not a sufficient idiot and/or asshole pass.  - Enable others to speak, and do not speak over others. If you are domineering the session, you will be asked to stop privately, and then publicly. House Rules - If you cast two spells in one turn with one being an action and another being a bonus action, neither spell is required to be a cantrip. - If you hold an action to make a weapon attack and have multiattack, you may make multiple attacks as part of your reaction. - I don't keep track of rations or encumbrance, and I don't expect you to either. Apply with the format below 5e/RP experience: Character Info      Name:      Race:      Class:      Personality + Alignment:      Backstory (4 sentences maximum, please): What you're looking for in a group: Discord name and ID number: If I like what I see, I'll pull you into a brief discord call; get to know you, little exposition for your character, etc. Cheers. ~Glor
5e/RP experience:  I have around 2 years of D&D 5e experience with 1.5 years in a variety of other RPG games, such as 3.5e, Forbidden Lands, World of Darkness(CoD), and others. Character Info        Name:  Gnash Lortorin      Race:  Fallen Aasimar      Class:  'Fey Knight' Paladin (Oath of Ancients) / Hexblade Paladin Multiclass      Personality + Alignment:  Imagine that a friendly old man that is finally content with his life and his family magically got magic powers and is now just trying to make the world and its inhabitants better. He puts everything he has into what he does and just loves to bask in the glories that the world brings.      Backstory (4 sentences maximum, please):  Like most Aasimars, he was a servant to the divine but lost his inner light when someone asked him why he did so and if he had a purpose all his own. As a fallen, he lived his life normally in the mortal realm and made a family, soon having children and then grand children. He finally found his purpose to live and realized that it is also a reason to fight so he wanted to protect what he held dear so he went to the local forest that he once sensed fey inhabiting. He asked them if he could serve them in protecting the life and light in the world; they responded in making him the first Fey Knight in ages however the celestial powers got mad and infused him with a piece of sentient creature of Shadowfell, meant to inhabit all his weapons and represent everthing that the Feywild is not. What you're looking for in a group:  I want a group that can have fun in their characters but know when not to take it too far. Everyone wants to play the game and we should be willing to let everyone in that limelight once in a while. The funnest part of D&D is the group experience and when characters, players, and DM are all having fun, D&D is fun. I want a group that can keep that in mind when playing. Discord name and ID number:  OrionNStar#1127 P.S. I didn't see a part in the format for personal info but you can just call me like my Roll20 and Discord names suggest, Orion.
5e/RP experience: I've been playing 5e for close to 3 years, have run Curse of Strahd twice, currently running a campaign converted from Pathfinder, and play in another 5e game. I'm still learning how to best use the more intricate mechanics, but I consider myself moderately experienced. I have over a decade of improv & writing experience that I also draw on for roleplay. Character Info      Name: Kelvin Turi      Race: Goliath      Class: Barbarian (Totem) 5 / Rogue (Swashbuckler) 4      Personality + Alignment: "I'm a romantic soul at heart, and will do anything for True Love." / A well-meaning but kind of naive big buff boy. Easily taken advantage of, sometimes makes bad decisions, but in the end he's just doin' his best. / CG      Backstory (4 sentences maximum, please): Kelvin is on a personal journey to become strong enough to one day return to his tribe and defeat the chieftain in single combat, so that he might marry his daughter. Not because it's, like, a cultural thing. He's just pretty convinced that's how marriages work. What you're looking for in a group: First and foremost I think that there should be good chemistry in a group. We spend a lot of time together for D&D, and we should all enjoy each other's company! I think that having a good level of camaraderie and friendship ooc reflects in people's relationships IC. With that I'll admit that I'm a sucker for good roleplay and narrative, that's really my jam when it comes to D&D, which isn't to say I don't enjoy fighting. Obviously, you can tell that my character is somewhat reliant on getting good rolls to be able to carry his weight (ahem ACTUALLY he counts as one size larger for carrying capacity-- kill me now ), and I'm happy to chat with you about how I intend to run a barb/rogue. If you'd rather no multiclassing, then of the two I would actually prefer to run him as a Rogue. Discord name and ID number: joss#6030
