Greetings adventurer, take a seat, and listen to our tale, for it is grand and full of wonder! We are looking for 1 player, sundays at 1pm CEST for an ongoing campaign of waterdeep: dragon heist. We have completed chapter 1 to 3, and are now getting to the part where the story starts to develop faster. WDH will be finished in a while, but we will continue on to dungeon of the mad mage after. It is easy to introduce new players, as we are in an urban city setting, with thousands of people within a few mile radius. Our players are aged early 20s to early 40s. Including me (as DM) we have 4 men and 2 women. We are LGBT friendly (and require this of our players). The characters are rogue/fighter, paladin, wizard, ranger and brawler barbarian. Half of the group has played together for about 1,5 years and are quite close. In our previous campaign (Tomb of Annihilation) we even got together for the final boss fight IRL, with everyone flying all across Europe to meet in person for a weekend. I should note that while we are open for doing this again, you will never be forced to buy plane tickets for us. As stated before half the group knows each other quite well, and everyone really complements each other in terms of playstyle. We have quite a diverse group both in personalities and playstyle. What is very important to us is that the new player will fit within the group. D&D has many different ways of being played, and not every campaign is for everyone. Therefore, we will discuss after 1 session whether there is a mutual fit, and based on this decide whether to continue on or go separate ways. Some things we would ask of you: Be available from 1pm to 5/6pm CEST most weeks. Missing a session is no problem (life > games), but if you miss half the sessions it might not work. Preference for combat or RP doesn't matter, but fully min-maxing your character is frowned upon Contribute to the roleplay/discussions. Being shy isn't an issue, and it is understandable you are quiet when we first meet, but sessions are twice as much fun if everyone can contribute! On the other hand: don't hog the spotlight. In a game with 6 players you will generally only get 1/6th of the time to shine. This shouldn't be an issue for you. We have no preference for class/role within the party. We find that people play the best when you don't force them into a role. In terms of experience: we would prefer if you have played a bit of D&D, and know how things work. We definitely don't expect you to memorize the PHB, but knowing how the game works just makes the sessions a lot smoother What kind of campaign/DM style do we have? In the past I have mostly used published modules, but with quite a few other things tossed in. Things like dmsguild material, parts from other adventures, homebrew additions and many other things. The general story is quite close to the module, but the details/execution can differ. I like to stick close to the official content. This content has usually been playtested extensively, and usually doesn't require major changes. I am lenient on allowing homebrew subclasses etc, but I do require they are ran past me first. Also if it comes to homebrew I err on the side of caution, meaning I would rather nerf the subclass and buff it later as needed as having to nerf you after things become an issue. In terms of rules as written VS rule of cool I am somewhere in the middle. I find the rules to give a very good framework for running the game, but that sometimes a cool action should take preference over following the exact rules. However, I do not allow everything. Some things would either be overpowered, take the story in undesirable directions or compromise other people's class abilities. For example: if what you want to do is an ability of another (sub)class I often won't allow it, as I feel like that would take away something from that (sub)class. The story is not overly dark and gritty. While some of the "heavier" topics might come up in the campaign, I will generally just gloss over them. For example: nobody RP's sexual encounters, rape, extreme racism etc. General idea is that these things happen in the background, never in the center stage. If you are interested in joining us, feel free to leave a comment below! Please include your age, amount of D&D experience, preferred party role, and tell a little bit about your playstyle!
