Greetings all Roll20 prospects, I am looking for at most four players to run through the Dragon of Icespire Peak module from the Essentials Kit released recently. This is meant to bring in brand new to fairly new players. I will not exclude veteran players, however, understand that this is meant to teach while ultimately having fun. What is Dragon of Icespire Peak? Dragon of Icespire Peak is an adventure module located in the Essentials Kit meant for running a new adventure with an emphasis on bringing new players into the world of DnD. The adventure is set within the Forgotten Realms centered around a small mining town called Phandalin, located to the southeast of a well-known city, Neverwinter. The surrounding area is in disarray from the arrival of a young white dragon who has been terrorizing their new hunting grounds. In addition, other less savory creatures have begun to stir with the sudden change to the natural order. Our adventurers arrived in hopes of bringing stability but must hone their skills in order to be ready for the final fight. How will we play? We will be using Roll20 as a platform for maps, dice rolling, and character sheets. For voice communication, there will be a Discord server shared when accepted into the campaign. There will be no video. We will also be using the Player's Handbook and sticking to core SRD material. No Xanathar's or Volo's. Additionally, the discord will act as a way for players to discuss among themselves, ask me questions, and generally have a place to speculate the game. When will we play? -Every Sunday from 5pm to 9pm EST starting the 21st of July if enough players are found. This will continue as schedules permit until the module is concluded, which on average is 8 sessions. Some information about myself: I am a veteran DnD player with a lot of experience playing 3.5 and now 5e. I have been the DM for a few spontaneous improv types of games in the past, but have been really focusing on starting an official game to hone skills while looking to bring any interested person's into my favorite hobby. I am a 25-year-old married man who, after serving four years in the US Army, is a fulltime student with lots of time. Currently, I am pursuing an undergraduate degree in Comp Sci. Dungeons and Dragons is one of my many passions in addition to gaming, music, writing, story-building, and roleplay. I am hoping that this experience will allow me to further my own skills in hopes to start my own truely homebrewed campaign in the future. What can you, the players, expect? -Expect to have fun, first and foremost! -Expect to interact with new players like yourself. -Expect to learn about Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition. -Expect to experiment with creativity. -Expect to enjoy the accomplishments you make within the game. -Expect to feel the choices you make in the game. What do I, the Dungeon Master, expect from my players? -Do NOT metagame. Metagaming is using player knowledge to affect the actual game. For example, because you, the player, knows that another player was just ambushed out of sight and sound, you now change everything to rush to their aid. The character had no way of knowing the actions taking place. A solution to something like this, for example, would be to ask me if you might have heard something. I'd ask for a perception check. A success would clue you into the danger and could give reason to characters changing their actions. -I expect all players to be at the session on time. If there is a reason you cannot come that night you need to tell me in a timely manner. I understand that things happen, but if it becomes a habit you will be removed from the game. It is not fair to the other players, not fair to me, and not fair to yourself if you are constantly late or not showing up at all. -I expect you to respect me and respect your fellow players. -I expect you to play your characters the way you have intended them. You have made a commitment to your character; play them. -I expect players to have basic information on who their character is. This does not need to be intricate at all, but I will not limit you if you wish to go for it! Let's get some information from any prospects: -Name you like to go by? -What kind of character would you like to play? -What are you looking for from this campaign? -What made you want to play DnD? This information can be submitted below or to myself through Roll20 messaging. Throughout this week I will be responding to those interested with further questions in one on one voice calls. Understand that this will not be a first-come-first-served scenario, so I implore you to stand out. I look to meeting any who applies to play and hope to bring you an enjoyable gaming experience. Have a good day. -Ex
