This is NOT first come first served. I will be talking to each person individually to get a general idea as to what they're like and if they will be the right fit for the other players. I will not start the campaign until I am sure I have 2 players that are at least the right fit, for this reason I advise continuing to look for games until that point as it may take some time, I will not be offended if I get back to you only for you to tell me you have found a game. Hi there, I'm Michael though I also go by Mika, happy to be called whichever. I've offered to start a new campaign with two friends from another game I play in, for this reason as well as my own convenience the session time is locked down to: 12PM, UK afternoon, on a Sunday GMT+1. The session may only be made earlier which will happen when UK daylights saving comes in making the session start at 11 AM instead, this will make most US people not well suited unless they have an unusual schedule that allows them to get up very early as most US people will find this at best starts 7AM their time since they're 5 hours behind. The game will normally last between 3-4 hours odd give or take. This is technically planning two campaigns, I plan to run an experimental City of Mists (Powered by the Apocalypse) game first if all my players are open to that, however if they are not keen on the world and or system I will default to a heavily fleshed out Homebrew 5E game I have already. You are free to apply for only one or both, I will happily teach people how to play either game so newcomers are welcome, I'm far more focused on the player's personality and ability to roleplay than their skills at the game. I will be including a section on both Campaigns below. About Me the DM As a DM I'm far more focused on open story telling, I will detail out the world and what's going on in it but they player's action's and stories will interact with it. The directions you go in either campaign are open, I'd like character motivation as to why you choose such actions but what you choose to do will be what shapes the story, you might come across grand conspiracies on the way, fall into peril, or slay the big bad I will lay out hooks but it's up to you which you ultimately take or don't take. I play music during the session and only really pull out a battlemap when needed, I tend to be a DM more focused on coming up with characters and interesting events rather than the exact numbers of a monster, it's why I will never run a Pathfinder session myself as the number crunching as a DM is a bit too much for me. While I heavily enjoy DMing and have generally had a game going for the last 3-4 years I must admit my DM battery can drain so players who don't turn up on time, don't have much contact outside of the game, or don't put the effort in can take their toll. All the games I run will be in homebrew worlds and while I try stay close to the rules I make a fair few homebrew changes when it comes to things, this is mostly noticeable in 5E where you gain a feat at level 1, no variant human, as well as shifting racial ability scores around so a Half-Orc wizard is more viable. The game is LBGTQ+, if you are not accepting of these things then this ain't going to be the campaign for you, I don't consider myself fully under the banner completely and I don't mind if people are still trying to get accustomed to these things but stuff like homophobia and transphobia won't be tolerated. I don't allow sexual contents, if your character takes someone off to a room it will simply fade to black. It should also be noted that while I do allow a lot of openness as to where the players go there are some things I will push you away from, for example trying to build a settlement and potentially crafting big things due to the amount of number crunching and what not I'd have to delve into rule wise, I tend to try maintain a good pace during the session so if a person has any issues with the ruling on something or the general feel of the game I'm happy to go over it with then out of the session, just in session I like to keep a good pace when possible. In general I can tend to create quite zany characters and events such as the Butter Bandits, a group of three rabbitfolk orphans who made their own make shift gang, or Frazzle Fross a previously sweet making alchemist who discovered found out how to make films, a mage who the players discover lost and puking rainbows after a magical bender with other wizards, while I make up a lot of odd, unusual, and outlandish locations I do still tackle some more serious themes and events such as a city collapsing in to the ground. I always do voices for characters though I can tend to be forgetful as to what voices I gave them and don't have the best range. In general a lot of the characters will have a handout with a picture. About me the Person I'm a 26-year-old guy from East Anglia. I'm a rotund yet friendly beady boy who's generally quite enthusiastic about whatever he's getting up to, which by in large is normally going to be some sort of geeky media format (While mentioning some I've enjoyed recently) be that game (Autochess), TV (Happy!, Farscape, Violet Evergarden), Film (Predestination/The Big Sick), Audiobook (Brave New World/Discworld), Podcasts(Adventure Zone, Not Another DnD Podcast, Dimension 20 (Fantasy High, Escape from Bloodkeep, and their current series Unsleeping City)), and Graphic Novel (Also Adventure Zone) to which I often spend my time either involving myself with one of them if not talking to people about stuff like that, so I can tend to be fairly chatty in general though I moderate myself far better in session. I am autistic though most say they don't notice, furthermore because of a disability of mine I can struggle with identifying speech pauses verses someone ending their sentence. Also since my campaign is a lot more roleplay focused there may be moments when your character isn't involved, this occurs more with City of Mists since your characters have day to day lives and aren't living together normally like DnD, I will try cut between the groups so it doesn't dawdle too long and leave people out, however people should still try take in what's going on. Also a secret question as last time many would just ignore the post to skip to the bottom, just link a random youtube video you'd like to share, I won't judge you on what it is as it's more about showing that you just read this in general. What I'm Looking for in a Player I welcome both old and new players, I care far more about how well we get on in speech and your ability to pretend to be a character rather than your knowledge of your rules and roles, with City of Mists as it's far from popular I expect all my players will be new to it. In general If you're able to describe what your doing such as "I pull out my longsword, trying to slash across him to make some bacon with the pig man" over simply "I attack" you'll be a step above a lot of other players, I'm happy to help players get better at this. My players should enjoy roleplay with each other most of all, the game is about the characters interacting with one another so players that want me to crunk out the next combat encounter or leaving the group behind because they want to force the next story moment aren't the best fit for me, nor are power gamers. The interviews that I will be doing over discord aren't like a job interview at all, for the most part it's just me shooting the shit with you to get a general feel of your personality and how it might best fit with both my campaign and the other players involved, I like to have a new friend whenever I get a new player however cheesy that might sound. Players should be 18+, I do accept students though I tend to prefer players who've got their work life more set out as often early student players vanish for long periods of time since they leave their work till last minute, a good mic and net connection is likely important as well. City of Mists - A Powered by the Apocalypse Game So a quick guide on how to play a any Powered by the Apocalypse game Player describes what they want to do -> DM says roll 2d6 plus a stat and what kind of action it is -> 1-6 they failed and DM makes a hard move, 7-9 you partially succeed with some sort of cost, 10+ you did it! The outcome will be effected by what kind of action it was, a 7-9 on a sneak might mean your gun slips from your pocket, while a 7-9 on a brawl roll will mean you get punched in the face while punching them. Hard Move - this is the DM's actions, these happen whenever something would naturally happen or when a player fails a roll, it can range from a gunman shooting you for not running, the party getting split by a sudden closing door, or potentially the bounty hunter after you getting just that bit closer. In general via rolls and Hard Moves are made they are meant to change the scene of sorts. In general with any PbtA if you simply describe what you want to do you will be fine, though it's worth noting rule wise the DM has a bit more power since he doesn't roll for stuff. I've DMed PbtA games already though my experience with DnD far outweighs my PbtA experience, I've only been a player in City of Mists so I might not be perfect with the rules. With that out of the way, now to explain City of Mists. You play as a Rift, some normal human (Maybe not even human) who has become a vessel for a Mythos. You could be a baker, a cop, or perhaps bartender but in a moment of internal stress ranging from a fight to a messy breakup the Mythos took root in you. The baker finds his hands can shoot lighting (Nikola Tesla), the Bartender discovers horns on his head and the ability to breath fire (Devil), the cop discovers his coffee cup cures wounds (Holy Grail), though despite this discovery they find that their friends and family simply cannot observe this, phones will pull their attention when you breath fire, they forget or miss-remember the supernatural things you show them, even your attempts to record yourself seemingly are plagued with static. You start to find that you remember things different, that wasn't a man in a costume several nights back, that was an actual zombie, or perhaps that cosplaying woman you had seen was actually a real pixie with actual wings, this is you discovering the Mists, the vague supernatural effect that stops the "Sleepers" from seeing this supernatural part of the world. The game is generally focused around a noir setting in the current day, you come up with a character who is a normal person who's life has been turned upside down by some form of fiction, mythology, or maybe even concept possessing them or perhaps and object, it's incredibly open as to what you can come up with and balances those that are very magically powerful with those that are closer to a normal person. You could play a dockworker who's gained Sailor Moon's rod that allows him to transform as a power up, maybe you're physically mutated by the mythos of Legion turning you into several human bodies mashed together, you might have a mini cooper with a hell mythos possessing it. The combination of things you can do in the system are numerous and the way these myths and fiction can empower are easy to make in a creative way due to how stats work in the game. As to what you will be doing, the game is rather focused around investigation to some degree, as to why is up to you. As a group you create your group in the world, you might just be a bunch of folk trying to uncover a mystery at the begging but evolve into crime stoppers, you might be paranormal investigators or perhaps cops discovering this supernatural world for the first time. Mysteries will be uncovered, characters will be conversed, and certainly a few brawls are more than likely to happen. FeSkeur - A Homebrew 5E Game FeSkuer is one of many continents around the world (Though the only one fleshed out in the world so far) a somewhat European themed place with a jungle in the north and a frozen landscape in the south, a high magic sword can be bought with enough gold and where Dwarves, Gnomes, Goblins make each their own kind of warforged and other technical inventions. All races are allowed apart from Genasi if I recall as well as animal folk being allowed, new races can be requested if I can fit them in naturally though generally every race has a bit of a different origin, such as Dwarves and Elves being the evolved form of rock creatures and tree beings created by their respective gods, or how High Elves are simply Wood Elves that have had generations in cities. The game will start on the lowish end of either level 1-3 depending, outside of the first session or two being a quest or two to bunch the players up the game's progression will be largely dictated by where the players go. I will pull from your backstories, placing characters you've met in certain locations so if you visit them you will uncover a more personal story so it isn't just simply you chasing the story lines but your character's backstory having some involvement in the plot. I will be using a lot of small homebrew rules though nothing that fully breaks the game, some of these are just ease of play like outside of monster's making attacks I will just tend to set a DC for you to hit on a deception check rather than rolling their insight against you, another change is I allow casters to adapt their spells slight for example making a web into a net to catch them based on a arcane DC check, though there are other tweaks as well but it should all still feel like DnD by in large.
