Hey all. It's been a while since I've managed to play any P&PRPGs, so I figured I'd get proactive and DM a game myself. This is to ease myself back in gently, so while my favorite system may be pathfinder, I'm going back to my roots: D&D 4e. Yeah, I got on the D&D bandwagon a little late. So, rather than dive into anything too heavy, I figured I'd DM the D&D encounters adventure: Dark Legacy of Evard! (Levels 1-3) It was made for short, one-encounter drop-in-drop-out bursts, but I'm hoping to get a bit more done per session. Depending on how the adventure goes and how everyone feels, we might continue on after the adventure with the same characters, roll up new characters and start a custom-made campaign, or we might just part ways. Anyway, here are the necessities for joining the campaign: Skype+mic - Unless it's been overhauled recently, skype group calls are a lot better than r20 chat. If you absolutely hate skype for some reason, I'm open to suggestions for an alternative. A bit of RPG experience - You don't need to know 4e rules perfectly, but at least have played an RPG with a combat system before. That said, it'd be great to have at least one person who does know 4e in and out, as I'm a bit rusty and may make the wrong call on some rules. Time - Specifically, a good chunk of time somewhere between the hours of 3pm and 3am EST. I like to do long sessions when possible, and pretty much never set an end time. The session ends when someone has to go, we run out of material, or it just gets too silly. Unfortunately, if people's schedules just don't match up, we might have to take outlying players out of the adventure. A love of role-playing - Most of the time, I'm a pretty combat-oriented DM. I'm all about arena-battles and gauntlets. (specifically challenges, but fist armor and old-school arcade machines too.) That said, roleplaying makes everything better in D&D, especially combat. I am not above bending, ignoring, or completely shattering the rules to allow someone to do something incredibly cool if it's in character. That's all I can think of that's absolutely mandatory. There are a few things that are nice to have, though: A D&Di account - You will appreciate this more than me. Access to a character builder as well as a fully searchable glossary of rules and virtually everything printed in a 4e sourcebook or magazine is well worth the price of admission. That said, I certainly wouldn't expect you to have it. If you can't make your own character, you can still play. I would be happy to create one for you, either to fill a hole in the party composition, or to your specifications. I'm not gonna sit and screencast the character builder while you tell me what to click, but I'd be happy to give you a list of races and classes and build something based on a description. DMing skills of your own - I have a bit of an 'Always the bridesmaid, never the bride' thing going on. While I enjoy DMing, It's 80-90% of what I do. I also like playing, and I absolutely love character creation. So if you happen to be hosting a game in any system, I'd probably like to join. And that's all I can think up on that front. So, if you're interested in joining, send me a message with the following info: Your level of D&D experience If you can make your own character. If you've already made a character, send me your character sheet. Times and Days you're available, particularly if you can start tonight. (EST, please) Why you want to join. (This isn't a job interview. I want to know so I can make the game a better experience for you.)
