
Hello, I'll be the GM for this Campaign. We've concluded our last one, and since we've had enough of sci fi and fantasy, we wanted to move on to steampunk. Or should we say, Industrial Punk? It's a game where we are looking for mature players from any time zone that can play their characters effectively and make decisions. We need free spirits and those with drive, if you want to sit and throw dice, you will not enjoy this campaign. -All applicants must be over the age of consent in their home country, age under 21 must be disclosed and reviewed on a case by case basis to ensure the player matches the maturity level of the group. Word of mouth is good, we will not request ID verification or otherwise -Players are in the 30-40 age range IRL, at the moment, so it's a mature group. -Time period is in an alternate history earth in 1924, history will be attached later on in this article. -All Races are able to be played in some way, shape, or form, though anyone that does not intend to play a human will need to consult a GM before hand -Absolutely, positively, no importing characters from RPG's. This has had disastrous results in the past; not doing it again. -We intend to play Saturday Afternoons or Evenings, with possible side missions (optional) any day of the week. Now as far as a bit of our lore, here is what we have. __________________________________________________________ The World's History changed with the introduction of the Rifts. Whether it was a storm in some distant part of the galaxy or merely the side effect of some experiment, in 1870, the world as people knew it changed. Alien Technology, from power devices to firearms, things from other places and times fell through tears in reality. The world was thrown into a panic and widespread chaos ensued for a years. Some of the greatest minds of the age, such as Nikola Tesla, sought to use the new technology that had fallen into Earth's lap to do good. Others had intentions that were not so pure. The Power Structure of the world was torn down and bought up again; some things occurred as they had in the normal timeline. The Romanov family was killed and the USSR rose in it's place. The American Civil War had a ceasefire; one that was broken by the Confederacy attempting to use Alien Technology to gain an advantage. World War One occurred in the year 1900 and lasted until 1920, redefining the world as it was known. As Alien Technology was adapted to use by Humanity, social disparity grew. Sleeker, streamlined tech was available to those with resources, and while technology such as portable phones could still be acquired by the less wealthy, the gap between the rich and poor had never been broader. While it is common knowledge that alien technology as well as certain aliens themselves came through these rifts, other things came as well. Beings with unnatural power. Things thought to be merely the figments and fragments of nightmares. Hellish and devastating proof of other dimensions hostile to light and life. This information has largely been suppressed and explained away, and as these instances became more and more common, specific organizations dedicated to containing, suppressing, and neutralizing these threats rose. One such organization was the Cerberus Institute, dedicated to guarding Earth from the veritable hell that may be unleashed upon it. The World itself is recognizable. Some differences, but many places remain the same. Much technology in place in the year 2000 in the normal world is available in some way shape or form then, though with an older Aesthetic. Among the more jarring changes, the following geopolitical landscapes have been modified. -Canada, Mexico, and the United States have formed the North American Federation. -The Soviet Union won the Sino-Japanese War, and annexed Northern China. -The Chinese Monarchy was overthrown, but with support from the North American Federation and Japan, was able to survive. They formed the United Nations of Asia, reaching diplomatic treatises with their Asian Neighbors with strong ties to the North American Federation as well as Japan, in the face of the threat they believe they face from the soviets. -India, having had a great influx of alien technology, achieved its own sovereignty via rebellion against the British Empire. They rebelled after the First World War ended, and adopted the Communist Ideal. -Europe was devastated by twenty years of war. The League of European Nations was formed in the ashes of the old world, a more stringent version of the EU. -Italy and Spain, suffering from a crisis of religion and faith, became member states of the Catholic League, under the leadership of the Vatican. Religion is wielded against the population with an iron fist. -Much of Africa remained colonized; however, North Africa and the Middle East threw off the shackles of their Colonial Eras, North Africa uniting under the newfound Kingdoms of Egypt, Morocco, with Algeria becoming part of Spain to get away from the french colonials; the Middle East creating and joining the Coalition of United Arabic States. Culture across the world was influenced by the rapid growth as well as influence of the culture some aliens themselves bought as they integrated into human society. Fashion is much what you would expect between the years 1930-1940, with some of the grunge of the early 21st century in real time introduced. You might see a woman in a flapper dress with gauges and arm sleeves, or a man wearing jeans, a collared shirt, and a suit vest carrying a messenger bag. Music of the time period is much of what you would expect, with the introduction of synth and electronica by other species. The turmoil of the introduction of other races has much been resolved; most issues of race and gender were settled between the first major Rift Incidents and the First World War. Alien Populations and their descendants were/are largely considered to be equal members of society, though this equality is not seen in India, the Southern United States, South America, and the Catholic League. As a member of Cerberus, you are given authority to act as an Intelligence Agent beholden only to the expanded League of Nations, which most countries in the world aside from South America and the Catholic League agreed to be a part of. Agents operating in Soviet Territories require a minder from their own SBEA, State Bureau of Extraterrestrial Affairs. Most countries also have their own versions of Cerberus in a way, shape, or form. The Setting will be set in 1924, based out of the Detroit Cerberus Office in the North American Federation.
