Token Bars, Circles and Order?

Is there a reason why the token bars, the pop up circles, and the edit token order are not ALL the same order? https://www.screencast.com/t/93sxAGamw4g Is there a way to fix this so they align: 1,2,3 (L-R) on the popup 1,2,3 (T-B) on the bar list 1,2,3 (T-B) on the edit sheet

Yes, there's a reason, but unfortunately it's not a good reason and it cant be changed. Originally there was only one bar and one bubble. When they added two more bubbles, they added them to the left and right of the existing token bubble, and the original, middle bubble was #1. The one to the right was #2, and the one to the left is #3. But in the edit/bar list, they left the #1 at the top. So in one list they are 3 1 2, and in the other 123. It's a baffling decision, and we are stuck with it.

IIRC, the decisions was made with considerable user input. I.e. people had gotten used to the middle circle being bar one, and had built a lot of code and macros around it.

They problem isnt that bar one is in the middle, it's that the numbering order is different on the bubbles and the bars/token settings. They could have easily put the order on the token settings: 3 / 1 / 2, to match the bubble ordering. Yes, it would have raised questions about why the numbers are in that order- but they get them anyway, and it would at least have been consistent. Personally I think they should have ordered them 1/2/3 regardless of people's existing code, explaining it will make things simpler in the long run. Roll20 has grown since then, and is hopefully still growing - the people this decision satisfied (if any) must be a shrinking group. Most continuing users will never have experienced a time when there was a single bar. It was a short-sighted decision that will continue creating confusion and at least some frustration for the life of roll20.

I have similar feelings on the naming of Fog of War and Advanced Fog of War. I would have preferred two entirely different names, to reduce confusion and to ease referring to them.

I agree, especially with Dynamic Lighting already existing to add to the confusion.
While not 100% the same issue, it would also be nice to edit their display names and/or icons: https://www.screencast.com/t/pcDWrnjj The default icons and barx have zero connection to our game "as is".

They don't display on my token settings dialog or game settings page.

I bet its a browser extension, VTT EnhancementSuite or something similar.
That's what is looks like from the player side and those icons have always been there and are not editable. keithcurtis said: Frank P. said: While not 100% the same issue, it would also be nice to edit their display names and/or icons: https://www.screencast.com/t/pcDWrnjj The default icons and barx have zero connection to our game "as is". I'm not sure where those little icons are coming from. They don't display on my token settings dialog or game settings page. It's VTT. Below are two pictures. The left is the standard roll20 interface, the right is with VTT installed and enabled. Notice the right is also more compact. Two more pictures, showing a selected token. Left is standard view, right is with VTT installed VTT makes a lot of changes to the interface, some genuinely for the better and some not. it looks like you can configure some elements, but you'd have to do that in the add-on settings. It adds R20ES Tools and R20ES Settings buttos to roll20's settings tab. If your copy doesnt look exactly like this, its likely some settings have been adjusted there.

The VTT Enhancement add-on is not adding them. Those icons have been in Roll20 for a long time. They actually used to show up on the token bubbles themselves. Maybe the VTT Enhancement is "unhiding" them when you are a GM, but I still see them when logged in as a player. EDIT: You can see them on a token bubble at around 1:20 on this early Roll20 intro video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXXXFsjUDVI

That explains it. Even when I am a player, my GMs usually have me log in as a GM to troubleshoot. I almost never see the token editor from that POV. I agree. The icons should go at the very least. That's confusing and not applicable to many other systems.
