Map / Page setting and resolution

Hello friends, I have an issue with the world map I'm trying to set up for my players. The quality of the picture even though is a large resolution gets all blurry when I start zooming in.&nbsp; Here's two screenshots with 2 differents zoom + the orignal map I'm using :&nbsp; <a href="https://prnt.sc/onx291" rel="nofollow">https://prnt.sc/onx291</a> <a href="https://prnt.sc/onx2fv" rel="nofollow">https://prnt.sc/onx2fv</a> See how the map gets all blurry ? Any mistake I might have done ?&nbsp; Also what would be the best page settings for a map page ?&nbsp; Thanks in advance for your help.&nbsp;

The issue is that the image is only at 96dpi which means that even outside of roll20 when you zoom in it will become pixilated and blurry. It is also a jpeg which will cause loss of quality. My suggestion would be to try and find it in at least 300dpi and in PNG format.

I would recommend strongly against png, unless you can save to png8. You don't need an alpha channel (transparency), and the color palette is probably not that huge. Go with jpg. Trust me. Also, 300dpi is not a magic number. It comes from the print industry and has nothing to do with screen resolution. In fact, it's an entirely meaningless number for screen display. Your image is 2208 x 1710 pixels. If you have it in a higher resolution (i.e. more pixels), great. If you don't you are&nbsp; going to suffer loss. You can't create detail and clarity that isn't there to begin with. If your original image source is higher resolution, try outputting a jpg with a quality of about 50 (this number may be different depending on you software, go with a median value, or "medium" quality. Somewhere in the middle. You really don't need high quality for this sort of image and the tradeoff in performance that might come. You can try raising or lowering the compression(quality) of the jpg until you are happy with the appearance/dimensions. Also, if this makes your map really, really huge in pixel dimensions, export it in 2 or 4 slices and import those into Roll20 separately. The rendering engine will only have to deal with what's visible on screen at the moment, and you will see better performance at high magnification.

I took a look at that image, and it is already pixelated. No amount of playing with it will make it any better. It is also already a JPG when you try to download it. If you want to use it, downloading it as a JPG and uploading it to Roll20 is the best that you can do.

True, I actually used a dedicated software to enlarge the picture without noticable quality loss. Good. Some software packages have very good interpolation algorithms to simulate detail. Glad you have a usable version.
