How many players can roll20 hold on one table?

Hello. I am thinking about starting up campaign with some old friends back East and was wondering (since I had such a big response) if there was a table limit to players in it at one time? I have 8 or 9 people interested...and I've only played roll20 with 6...so just curious if anyone else has tried to do it and how it turned out from a technical standpoint.

While we've been asked in the past to not create campaigns as "open chatrooms" due to load considerations, the tabletop can handle a fair number of people. I'm currently in a campaign with 9 players plus GM.
Awesome...no it wouldn't be a chatroom...it's going to be a 2nd edition dnd game. So honestly thank you..I'd hate to get there game day and find out I have to leave someone in the cold

It's easier to have a large number of people in a Roll20 campaign if you're not utilizing the voice/video chat. There's a hard limit of ten people in a Google Hangout. I'm not sure if there's a hard limit with the built-in voice chat application into Roll20, but more than five users does start switching up how TokBox handles the streaming.

If I remember correctly, with WebRTC, the TokBox streaming connection is peer-to-peer until you have five or more people added to the VOIP call. Add more users and it needs to relay the stream in the same fashion that the old Flash version currently works. I don't have the technical knowhow to really explain that better. Sorry, Quatar. Just passing along what I've been told when WebRTC got integrated.
