About me: I'm a 40 year old male, married, with no children.  I'm a professional working in the tech industry in Indianapolis.  I'm fairly liberal, easygoing, with a sarcastic sense of humor.  I've been a board game addict for years, but over the past few months have really been getting in D&D.  I've some limited experience playing Pathfinder as well, but I prefer the simplicity of the D&D 5e system.   I've become a pretty regular player of Adventurer's League at my FLGS on Wednesday nights, and I've started to DM Lost Mines for my wife and 4 of her friends every other weekend.  But I've never had the chance to be a player in a real, consistent campaign.  I'm on the lookout for local groups as well, but considering my schedule it's probably best to find a group to play online.   What I'm looking for, and what I bring: Let's face it, there are some groups that work and some that don't.  I figure it's best to get expectations out front, it just makes life easier for everyone.   Maturity.  I'm old... especially by the standards around here and over on r/lfg.  I'm probably not going to be a good fit in a group full of teenagers, but obviously age isn't the same as maturity.  I'm looking for a group that plays a fairly serious game.  That doesn't mean the game can't be fun and silly at times, it totally should be.  But it does mean that I'm not looking for a group of murder hobos, bards that think it's fun to literally try to bang every NPC they see, rogues that steal from the group because it's "totally what their character would do", or players that want to argue with the DM over every ruling.  Adventurer's League is fun, but I've already picked up a few horror stories over the past few months.  I'd prefer to avoid those. Dependability.  If we have a game scheduled, I'm going to be there or I'm going to have a reason why, and the group will know that reason in advance.  I don't think that's asking too much, it's just about respect for other people's time.   Diversity.  One of my favorite things about gaming in general is seeing players that aren't old white dudes like me.  I've found that a range of player backgrounds brings a range of approaches to the game and makes for a better, more well-rounded group.  So if you're male, female, straight, LGBTQ+, of a racial minority, young, old... as long as you're mature and dependable, please, come play at my table... online or off.  Willingness to roleplay.  I don't think we need to spend a 4 hour session shopping and roleplaying with the innkeeper or anything.  But hopefully my groupmates will at least have some kind of backstory and will be willing to mostly act in character both in combat and out.    As for what I'd like to play, well, I'm probably down with some homebrew, but I’m not looking for an evil campaign and I’d like to keep it to a typical fantasy setting. I'd be perfectly happy playing through any of the WotC modules as well.  I obviously know LMOP since I'm DMing it, but I can play pretty dumb if the rest of the group wants to use that as a stepping stone to something else.  I'm available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from about 6:30 onward till about 1 AM or so, EST.   I'm not new to D&D, but I am new to playing online.  I played a Pathfinder game on Roll20 once many years ago, but that's about it.  I'm in tech and a quick study, but I might have a few questions on the interface off the bat.   If you're a DM forming up a campaign or one looking for a replacement player and it seems like I could be a good fit, just let me know.  I'd be happy to jump on Discord to talk more.   EDIT: Forgot to mention... I prefer that it’s not a paid campaign, but if it’s a good group and it’s a solid offering for the money, I could be convinced.
