AD&D2e: Enemy at the Gates [Saturdays 7pm PST, Newbies Welcome]

Thank you all for your interest! Sadly, we are no longer looking for players. Welcome to the new world. You are an initiate of the Everguard - an order dedicated to the preservation of the world. Few join their ranks willingly, most are taken under the Rite of Conscription, where a year's service absolves them of all crimes. Whatever your reasons, you are here. Let the first test begin. Hello! This is aimed to be a short campaign (1-2 months) using modified AD&D2e rules. If you don't have the rulebooks for 2e, that's fine. We'll go over character creations together. Whatever happens in this campaign will affect all future campaigns in this setting. Here's what you need to play: 1. A microphone, as we'll be using voice chat over mumble . 2. Either a myth-weavers account or to give me your character sheet by some other means beforehand so there's something to roll against. 3. You must be punctual - this is not only out of respect to your players, but it's respect to the GM, and it's respect to you. If you're absent without any warning at all, bad things can and will happen to your character. 4. A regular availability for Saturday nights at 7PM PST. The plan is to run for about 3 hours each session. 5. Before or after we meet, find (or make!) a picture to best represent your character! Those interested should post a reply to this thread for more information. Thank you for your time. The Players: 1. Ferrus Dwarf Cleric - Kate 2. (?) Halfling Thief - Josh 3. Nazúr Human Illusionist - Connor 4. 5. 6. Max six players.
I'm in. Hopefully, I'll be able to play a thri-kreen fighting monk.
I am interested. There is a small chance I would be late (full disclosure) as I have two small kids that go to bed a bit before 9pm CST (7pm PST) but I do not really see that being an issue. I have some 2nd ed experience. How do you plan to do character creation? And do you have an estimated start date?

For character creation, we'll be going over it together. You can play whatever you want, save for the fact that your character must not be evil aligned for this campaign. You must also have a reason that you're in the story, not "You're all in a tavern and some dude talks to you about adventures" trope. Consider the following for your character: 1. How did you join the Everguard? Was it willingly, forced, or to avoid a worse fate? 2. This is not a world unified under one culture or language. Common does not exist, and there are no languages like dwarf or elvish, save for regional creatures. We'll be playing in the elven country of Sylvania, so Sylvan will be the local tongue. What sort of culture did you come from? (I have a good number of cultures made already, but if there's something you want that's missing we can add more) This is a very primordial setting that will be defined and affected by the player's actions. Ideally, I'd like to do character creation for you two this saturday and then get started next saturday. @bossbedlam - I'm not sure if I have the steps for making a monk - I'm only using the PHB & DMG of 2nd ed, the black edition. P.S. I know D&D is a class-based system, so I'll put up what classes are already taken in the top thread if that affects your choice. I'm ambivalent though - play whatever you want.
I am very intreasted in playing, I am 17 years old. I played dnd 2 times before, very new and would like to play if I have help... The only problem I have is I don't have a mic. I have a skype with my tablet that I would use.... I am very intreasted tho, just will need help
I can pick up Fighter (Ranger if I miraculously manage the stats).

I have chosen to play Nakur Human Fighter (Swashbuckler). http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=...
@Spazz451: One of the house rules is there are no ability score minimums for classes, nor race limitations for classes, so if you want to play a fighter with a strength of 3 or a dwarven wizard that's up to you. @BossBedlam - Again, I only have access to the PHB and DMG so the Witch/Warlock class as well as player's options are out of the scope of my knowledge. You seem to know what you're doing, though, so play whichever you'd prefer. As regards player's option stuff for fighters, there's some house ruling for casters and martial classes on our google drive page . Have a look at that, and let me know if you have any questions.

It has been a while since I've played 2nd edition but I'm up for the challenge if you still have room. With your house rules I'm thinking dwarven paladin. Please let me know if space is filled

Awesome, Daniel S! So I'll stick with the pitiful fighter modeled after Madmartigan from the fantasy film, Willow. Very good at fighting but relatively inept as a talker who finds it easier to rub salt in people's wounds than putting smiles on their faces. He reluctantly joins the "cause" to avoid being incarcerated for a crime that he claims to be innocent. Handsome J. is a worldly traveler motivated mostly to improve his sword arm and is fully aware of his potential. I'll be online at 8 PM EST Saturday night to review my character. http://content6.flixster.com/question/21/33/80/213...
So sad; I was looking for something like this.

The game pitch looks fun. Too bad it's filled up! Thanks for offering 2E with house rules! If you are a 2E enthusiast, come join the Roll "2E" Tavern (campaign I started on Roll20 for people who are playing & DM'ing 2nd edition AD&D on this site). It can be found in the Looking For Game listing and I would like to invite "Daniel S" and anyone else from here who is interested.
