[Pathfinder][1e][LFP][Discord][EST] GM looking for players for a Pathfinder game, flexible time!

Hello! I've been GMing tabletop games for several years and recently started looking at Roll20. I've GMed mostly in-person with a few campaigns ran on Maptools previously. This is a bit of an interest check and, if enough people are interested, then I'll be putting together a game out of the people who do well. The exact details of the campaign aren't yet hammered out, but the short notes of it will include: The players as a cut-above the average person. Massive monsters and high-risk high-reward fights. Dynamic environments with custom maps. I personally make nearly all of my world and encounter maps. Custom enemies, hand-crafted bosses. Players being able to have an impact on the world. Houserules which can be found here . If you're interested in the game, then I have a few simple questions that I'd like you to answer in this thread. They are: What is your most enjoyable experience in tabletop RPGs? Who is your most memorable character? How did you get into tabletop gaming? What would you like to see in this game? What would you like to avoid in this game? What important truth do very few people agree with you on? When are you available? Roughly speaking, how fast can you type? Do you have a functional microphone which is clear of background noise? Is there anything in your life that could make you miss sessions? Please post your answers to these questions as a reply in this thread, along with a short paragraph describing the character you would be interested in playing, and an accompanying piece of character art. I will respond as soon as I am able to.
What is your most enjoyable experience in tabletop RPGs? I had a group of friends locally that did pathfinder society and the Wrath of the Righteous adventure path, until some of them moved away. Who is your most memorable character? Eda, the changeling witch, from the Wrath of the Righteous campaign. Mythic witch shenanigans were particularly fun. How did you get into tabletop gaming? I started playing with some friends from school/co-workers What would you like to see in this game? I'm up for pretty much anything, though I'd probably prefer to have something with some sort of comedic slant. What would you like to avoid in this game? I'd prefer to not have anything too grimdark or be bashed over the head with constant character morality dilemmas What important truth do very few people agree with you on? Don't assume that everything that doesn't work out in your favor to be the result of malicious intent towards you. You'll be happier and get along with people easier. When are you available? I am generally available after 2:30pm Central every day, though 3pm would be a safer bet. Fridays are the only bad day for me, as I'm in a campaign with some friends the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month. Roughly speaking, how fast can you type? 90+ WPM Do you have a functional microphone which is clear of background noise? Yes Is there anything in your life that could make you miss sessions? No, I generally don't have too much that interrupts my life on a 'must take care of now with short notice' scale. I've got a couple one-off events that might interfere depending on which day this campaign would be running, but I should be able to make all sessions otherwise. I've got a couple of gestalt character concepts I've been toying around with in my head for a while. Andarien the Spellseeker, Elf Magus/Rogue Gestalt (Will insert picture here later): Andarien is a scholar focused on the history and archaeology of magic traditions and rituals. He has dedicated his life to delving into crypts, ruins, dungeons, and wherever else the histories of magic might be found. While he started his profession in the regimented martial and magical discipline of the Magus his delving has necessitated the learning of the less scrupulous manipulations of the more roguish ways. He is careful and methodical, preferring to scout, study, and ambush instead of blindly rushing in. Illuminae, Kitsune Rogue/Alchemist Gestalt (Will insert picture here later): Illuminae is a shrewd merchant, trickster, and expert alchemist. She has a fairly hands on or 'do it yourself' approach to her business, preferring to obtain materials herself rather than purchase them. This also applies to her own defense of course, and she has taken up a fairly underhanded fighting style to ward off would be thieves and robbers. She frequently finds herself allying with other adventurers to seek out rare ingredients or hunt down rumors of lost formulas.
Hey, thanks for the interest, Tarreb! Would you mind elaborating on the most enjoyable experience and characters, please? What made them so good?
Johnson said: Hey, thanks for the interest, Tarreb! Would you mind elaborating on the most enjoyable experience and characters, please? What made them so good? On the most enjoyable experience part, I think it was mainly company and consistency. Basically, I enjoyed hanging out and playing with the other people at the table. We ran pretty much every week for somewhere between 2.5-3 years before half the group moved out of state. Our DM was well-prepared, played fair, and knew how to keep the game moving. Overall, it was just a thoroughly enjoyable experience. In regards to the most enjoyable character this kind of ties into the previous answer above. Eda the witch was played during the Wrath of the Righteous Adventure path, which we ended up running to completion in about a year. As a result, she is the character I've played for the longest duration. Additionally we were able to play through the entire 20 levels (and the 10 mythic tiers), which I've never really gotten to in any of the other campaigns I've been in. Beyond that, the character was fun to play. She was intended to fulfill a debuffer role, and her kit and the party complimented it pretty well. Furthermore, there were some pretty memorable moments in the campaign. There were some pretty awesome botches as a result of misfortune, I learned how effective bestow curse (reducing constitution) is on higher hit die targets (like a dragon), and just some fun teleporting the rogue into flanking position moments. (For that last one, think Kiki's delivery service, but with an angry Tengu dual-wielding wakazashi.)

Hey there I'm interested in joining your campaign but I'm still a little new to Pathfinder, I have experience in a modified version but I'll need some time to get completely up to speed on everything. 1. As I said above I played a modified pathfinder system called OPD20 (One piece the anime) and in that game I played a Large crocodile fighter who designed our ship. I had a lot of fun designing and redesigning different parts for it and helping to 'balance' the system. It actually used the DR armor system as well, although it did use a d20 roll plus modifiers for actual defense which made tanks near broken and if not for touch attacks I would have been near invicible. The devil fruits also made things absolutely crazy at times as you had to make your own feats for a devil fruit, with the DM's permission of course. 2. I partially mentionted the Crocodile Marcus in the previous question, honestly he was my absolute favourite character. I can't tell if it was the fact that the campaign was so good that I liked him more because of that or if it was the fact that I had played him for a year and a half and became inseparable from him. 3. I actually started with 5E after seeing an advertisement on reddit for Roll20 I began to look into playing a character, looking for games and finally managing to find a good one with very nice people who I still talk to today. 4. I would definetly like to see a bit of combat and roleplay but if I had to pick one thing in particular it would be the other planes of existence as I feel they're under utilised. 5. Generally speaking I'd like to avoid being too meaningful in events and how they change the world. It's nice to be able to save the world don't get me wrong but it's also nice to raid a dragon's lair or storm a fortress that has been taken over by bandits to free the villagers. 6. Sometimes it's better to run, not every fight is worth winning at the cost of a lot of health, magic or even in lives. 7. I'd prefer the weekends as I'm most available on those days, around 12:00 PM to 7:30 PM EST is my best time to play. 8. Around 70 to 80 words a minute depending on what I'm writing. 9.Clear as a whistle and no background noise either. 10. I don't think anything would but if it did I'd be sure to give you proper notice beforehand As for a character concept I'm still working on a buff/debuff Cleric and I'll need a bit more time to properly flesh him out particularly hero points and what I should buy with the amount of gold. Hector Drake, Human, cleric (Undead lord, Death, undead domain), Inquisitor Following the herd of heretics and grave dwellers this simple gravekeeper grew tired of the petty squabbles of mean and monsters alike, every day he buried more and more of young and old.  A gravekeepers job is not always to tend to graves and they are often employed to major battles, sieges or plagued villages. It was in one such siege that a herald of the god Orcus showed themselves to Hector and protected him from harm. Orcus decreed that he was pleased with his work and asked that he bring those who would violate the sanctity of the undead to be judged. Recognizing that his follower would need help, he granted him the power of unlife to call forth warriors of the past to aid him. With a newfound power and desire burning in his heart, he left to make his own battle, one that would surely please his god. A loyal comrade who is not afraid of the horrors that lie in the dark, after all, everything dies in the end but what we do after death is only for those willing to go beyond their mortal ties and realise that this world has so much more to it.
What is your most enjoyable experience in tabletop RPGs? My psychic amnesiac had been pulled into a mindscape by someone (or thing) claiming to be the real person my character forgot they were pretending to be. They looked just like my character, had all her memories and love for her family but needed my character's body. The other gave my character a choice: give her the body and let her be with her son, or make her take it by force, potentially dooming both of them. My neutral good psychic was torn between disbelieving she wasn't who she thought she was and wanting to do the right thing. There was a teenage boy outside waiting for his mom to wake up, and she didn't know who that was. I had to sit with that choice for a week before being pushed to a decision that still haunts me, and the character, to this day. Who is your most memorable character? The psychic amnesiac I mentioned. I gave the DM a couple pages of what she did and what she was like when she woke up but left who she used to be up to him. It was a heart-warming mystery to unravel, and then he took it all away. Good times. How did you get into tabletop gaming? An episode of "Community" led me to Youtubing a "Let's Play" of D&D (itmeJP) which led me to Critical Role which led me to DMing for my friends for a year, which led me to Roll20 to get some experience as a player. What would you like to see in this game? Hard choices, character development. An element of mystery is always a nice way to keep people engaged. I think a little ambiguity, even as simple as the secret identity of some villain or their true motivations, goes a long way. What would you like to avoid in this game? There are a lot of things that can go wrong in a tabletop RPG but none more fatal than an incompatible group. I'd like to avoid getting invested in a character, then having the group fall apart because three of us are on page 76, one of us is on page 677 and another is reading a different book entirely. What important truth do very few people agree with you on? You are responsible for everything that goes on around you. You always have a choice, and inaction is a choice. By choosing to do one thing, you choose not to do another. Very few people agree with me because very few people recognize the amount of choice they have. When are you available? Anytime past 3pm EST on Sunday, any day of the week after 6:30pm. Roughly speaking, how fast can you type? I've spent hours typing a day, every day for the past decade. I like to write in my spare time. I never timed myself, but I'm often appalled when I see my friends looking at the keyboard to type with two fingers. Do you have a functional microphone which is clear of background noise? I have two! [Just in case.] Is there anything in your life that could make you miss sessions? If something is worth mine and several other people's time every week, getting me to voluntarily do something else is a hard  sell. But I do work and have close friends who have those special occasions where I'm needed, not wanted. It could happen, but I can tell you it wouldn't be very often. Please post your answers to these questions as a reply in this thread, along with a short paragraph describing the character you would be interested in playing, and an accompanying piece of character art. I will respond as soon as I am able to. It's hard to say what kind of character I'd like to play without details of the story or setting. Getting to play around with the Gestalt rules allows for some interesting concepts beyond the surplus of options already available. I could see coming up with a neat story for a Vigilante/Kineticist, a superhero with a secret identity... in a fantasy setting. They probably had an accident with their connection to one of the elements early on that they regret and which gave them a greater sense of justice, because the people they hurt got none. This character was from a well-off family that could pay away any damages. Over the years, learning how to control this elemental affinity while being raised to become a proper noble, this character finds himself an adept peacekeeper capable of diffusing conflicts with words or warfare. Of course no vigilante is complete without a good nemesis or two. Why else would you need a secret identity?
Nope, I am still around, I've just been dealing with some familial issues the past few days and I'm waiting on more applications. I've been reviewing what's been posted so far.
What is your most enjoyable experience in tabletop RPGs? Being the one in a Curse of Strahd campaign to stab him in the heart killing him. Who is your most memorable character? I played as a venerable Elf Druid who was pushing 900 and having a custom magic item allowing him to shift into dragons as well as beasts How did you get into tabletop gaming? A group of friends from work played and got me to join them back in 2013 for 4th edition and I haven't stopped since. What would you like to see in this game? Unique memorable boss fights. They're hard to pull off sometimes but when they're executed well they're amazing to see. What would you like to avoid in this game? Metagamers and build abusers. Its a game about fun not number crunching to measure your epeen. What important truth do very few people agree with you on? Murder hoboing isn't the solution to everything. When are you available? As of current everyday except Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday nights due to other DnD related things Roughly speaking, how fast can you type? Fast enough to keep up and not have a typo every other word. Do you have a functional microphone which is clear of background noise? Yes outside of occasional GF noises as we live in a very small apartment so sometimes her things bleed over in my mic Is there anything in your life that could make you miss sessions? Well I'm currently looking for a job so once I find one it may interfere, but I'm aiming for morning shifts or over night if possible. As for what character ideas I have, I've been playing nothing but Gestalt for pathfinder over the last 5 and a half years so there's plenty of combos I've played in the past. I'm thinking about possible a Cleric with some crafting stuff built in as crafting is the only type of character I've yet to really dive into. That or possibly a buff wizard or necromancer of some type. I can spend weeks just working on one character making sure everything is right and displayed well for the GM to read. And making macros has become a past time for me.

What is your most enjoyable experience in tabletop RPGs? I would say it was the when i achieved Ascension for the first time in a Black Crusade game. It was with  Lazarus, The Undying King, Eater of Daemons, The One Reborn ( as well as a variety of other fancy titles). Who is your most memorable character? Unfortunately few PF/D&D games have lasted long enough for me to make a character memorable, however i do adore one of my old Black Crusade characters, Varl The Giant.  who had twin shoulder mounted autocannons, and was 6 meters tall. How did you get into tabletop gaming? I know i keep harping on about 40k in a PF post but what can you do. I started with DH 1e way back in the day, though i branched off into 3.PF around 4 years ago. What would you like to see in this game? I've never really had a character truly impact , the world around them. Most of my characters have being either too low level, or simply adventurous types who never really changed the setting in any meaningful way. So i guess im kinda hoping for some sort of Kingmaker style system or just some way to really effect the world. What would you like to avoid in this game? My personal hatred is simply, dungeon crawling. I find a dungeon to be the most unoriginal, restrictive, and creatively stifling setting for an adventure there is. Thats not to say i mind going into a dungeon for a session, but i hate it when its the only thing a party does. Oh and i dislike explicit sexual themes. If the sorcerer wants to seduce the barmaid, thats fine but fade to black afterwards. Im not here to cater to some neckbeard's sexual fantasy.   What important truth do very few people agree with you on? Well, this is not really game related but lets just say i dont talk politics for a reason... When are you available? Saturdays, around 12-2pm EST. Roughly speaking, how fast can you type? Ok-ish assuming you dont mind spelling errors. Though i would much prefer if at least the OOC stuff was Voice. Do you have a functional microphone which is clear of background noise? Of course. Is there anything in your life that could make you miss sessions? Not at the moment, no. I pride myself in my punctuality and always try to give at least a days warning if i cant make a session. Character wise, i have two general ideas, both use Spheres of Power/Might. The first is a Lichling/Conscript, who focuses on the Death and Leadership spheres, using the Necroturge unified tradition. The other is an arabian themed pure caster, using Incanter/Sorcerer, who will focus on Enhancement. The Necroturge concept is somewhat more fleshed out, but again this will depend upon the party's final preference.  Necroturge Arabian Thank you for reading, and i look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for your applications, everyone, and good luck in your search in the future! All of you who've gotten in have been contacted with further information.
Hi Johnson. I'd like to apply but I need to know what time slots you're looking for. My schedule is pretty tight.
As stated previously, the game is closed, and all participants who have been accepted were messaged. Beyond that, if you had wanted to get into the game, there was a questionnaire to fill out which was very clearly stated. The intent was to work together a schedule between people.
I know it's closed but I also know how much attrition roll 20 has :) So just to throw my hat into the ring: If you're interested in the game, then I have a few simple questions that I'd like you to answer in this thread. They are: What is your most enjoyable experience in tabletop RPGs? - Spirit of 77. The Love Boat with zombies.  Played a rock guitarist who always had the right meds for every situation.  Convinced the private eye (with a bit of pharmacological assistance) in the group to hold off the zombie hordes with his 'mind bullets'.   Who is your most memorable character? Any game?  Sgt. Rock a Silicoid Marine who single-handedly boarded and captured the enemy vessel.  In Pathfinder, Minion 3478, a goblin who became a paladin archer in Wrath of the Righteous.  How did you get into tabletop gaming? Marc Miller, Gary Gygax, Steve Jackson, Bear Peters...and a few others.  What would you like to see in this game? Story, laid back, everyone having fun.  What would you like to avoid in this game? Personal attacks, crossing no fly-zones, drama.  What important truth do very few people agree with you on?  Actions have consequences.  When are you available?  Pacific time, Tue-Wed-Thur. Usually. Would prefer every other week.  But if its a short campaign can do weekly.  Roughly speaking, how fast can you type?  Burst speed 120 WPM with typos.  No errors, closer to 70.  Do you have a functional microphone which is clear of background noise?  So far.  Not sure how sensitive other audio settings may impact this.  Is there anything in your life that could make you miss sessions?  Yup real life stuff, working over time, dad about to be evicted, sometimes health issues...which is why I love to escape for a bit.  If I do miss a game I provide as much notice as possible (and totally am fine with having character being red-shirted or just busy off doing something else.)  Usually I don't miss sessions (also I usually GM so that means I don't miss sessions normally anyway.) Cheers and happy gaming!
