[LFG] [5e] - DM of 7 years wants to play

Hello! My name is Pontus and I've been running my own campaign now for 7 years. During those years, I've had very little time as a player. I enjoy being a DM very much, but I want to experience the thrill of jumping into adventure not knowing what lies ahead. I'm looking for a long lasting group that would welcome a long time DM with open arms. Here's some information about me: Information: I'm 27 years old and I'm a big fantasy fan. Always have been. I've got an interest in Photoshop and Sai, which I tend to use to create tokens from scratch or even portrait frames for people that want an interesting look to a picture they want to use as a token. I often use these programs to make maps for my own campaign as well. Both the world map and the battle maps my players use. I like to roleplay and immerse myself in the worlds and the characters that inhabit them when ever possible. I like small talk, both as a person but also as the characters I'm playing. Timezone & schedule: I live in Sweden (GMT+1) and I'm pretty much available all evenings throughout the week. During the weekends I'm available any time except Saturday night. I'm essentially 7 hours ahead of EST and 9 hours ahead of PST. Why are you not just applying to groups in the "Join a game" section? The main reason, if I'm being honest, is because I have used that function before to apply for different campaigns. I've been in a handful but unfortunately they all ended prematurely. I've ended up in games where people just stopped turning up for sessions, other campaigns where the DM got burned out. The last campaign I was in was held alive by myself and another player. Everyone else dropped out and despite the fact that the DM couldn't bother waking up in time for the sessions, we stuck around. We spent the morning calling him to wake him up and then waited another 30 minutes just for him to get his coffee. This continued for a few weeks until the DM finally announced the end of the campaign. These problems seem to be pretty consistent every time I've applied to a campaign looking for new players, so I figured I'd try this instead. Microphone: I'm using an AT2020, which I have on a stand. Since I've been a DM for so long and also like to stream from time to time, I've made sure I can provide the best audio I can for my players and viewers alike. I also have a webcam (Logitech C920) if video should be required or preferred in your game! What I'm looking for in a campaign: I just want to have fun. Get to know people and their characters. I want to find a campaign where people enjoy each others company and where people turn up in time for sessions. I like battle maps but they are not required to be a work of art ;) If you have any questions, feel free to either post them here or send me a DM! I hope to hear from you very soon!
one question how soon are you looking to start a campaign? i have one in mind and am currently working it. it is based in our world but centuries ago as kind of a back story for a web comic i am working on. the campaign will take at least a year, if people stay that long, to complete the history. one last question would you be opposed to having homebrew options for your character?
I'm interested to join a campaign as soon as possible :) As far as homebrew options, I'm not sure! I guess that depends. I would prefer a campaign that sticks to the normal races and classes if such a thing is possible.
well the normal stuff is available but there homebrew options if you would like would you be available around this time on wednesdays cos if so i have a spot for you and would really like to have you
Senpire, Truth bomb. It's not fantasy, it's not even D&D 5th ed. I'm running Stars Without Number, it's a sci-fi space adventure game (think Traveler but like a million times easier to play). I know the pain of never getting to play so I figured I would reach out to you here and at least give the option. It's not what you are looking for exactly but it is a game that runs in the times needed. If you're not opposed outright I would say take a look at the listing. If you need that fantasy fix, I understand. Good luck finding a group to play with it's super hard to find something consistent on this platform. Knight General: If a campaign starts around this time on Wednesdays, that would be 01:12 AM and that's a bit too late for me to start a session unfortunately! Squeegee: I honestly appreciate that you took the time to write your reply. It isn't what I'm looking for though, as you said. Right now what I'm searching for is definitely more fantasy based; and as far as systems go, I don't want to get into learning another one at the moment. But thank you for the offer!
okay that is fine i understand, anyway good luck finding a game you deserve to play too
Thanks! I'm still looking for a game. Nothing so far. If you're reading this, send me a message or a post in this thread please :)
I'll give this thread one last bump and hope that there's a group out there that is available and open!
Heyo! I'm starting a 5e game Tuesdays that will either start 11am-12pm CST (which should start evenings 5-6pm for you?) We have two players thusfar and I'm going to be running a longterm fantasy campaign in a homebrewed setting. The only thing I unfortunately can't promise is that the world itself along with choices are very much steeped in homebrew material, but you can definitely stick to vanilla characters and traits if you want to! Battle maps tend to border on theatre of the mind for simple ones, but I will be giving maps for dungeon crawls and the like. Toss me a message at WitchyEevee#0547 if you're interested? R20 doesn't give me notifications very often when it comes to the forums :(
My game would be about 3pm your time. it might be something you're looking for. https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/175000/new-frontier
Witchyeevee: We talked for a while but unfortunately came to the conclusion that we have different expections when it comes to our games. I was warned about the amount of homebrew content but figured I'd still take a shot. But I wish you the best of luck in finding other players that fit your DM style and your game in the future! TimeLordHero: Westmarches, take turns to DM isn't really what I'm looking for - although it sounds interesting! I'll send an application and I'll gladly talk to you about the campaign.
Hello there. I am looking for one more player for my game that recently got a spot opened up. It is a 5e campaign set in my own world of Esteria. To make cliffnotes of the lore, humans used to rule supreme, waged war on most every other race, then they splintered up and now there are several nations instead of what once was a giant united empire. These nations are sortof in a stalemate and cannot attack eachother without fear of their own destruction, so for the first time in several generations, the world finally has peace. In a city called Stillwater, the players found themselves united to do a simple job, finding some glowmoss in a cave a days away, only to find it populated by golbins who did strange things, and some weird affliction had turned them purple, even their innards. This affliction seems to have slowly spread to Stillwater, but in a recent session they realized that a lab underneath the sewer system created this purple goo, but apparently the spread of the disease was a mistake. We are currently at lvl 3, and the tone is a mixture of serious and lightheartedness. I ask that my players treats in character moments seriously, and we don't have anyone in the group that would adress the local lord as 'sir important' or anything goofy like that, but I will never disallow lighthearted in character moments. The themes can get a bit dark in this campaign, involving themes such as slavery and torture, and in one moment a giant mutated parasite grew to immense size while within the villain's stomach, which of course burst his nect and mouth and it was flailing around like that. I would hope you aren't uncomfortable with such scenes or themes, although I don't make a point to focus upon them, and has so far been rather rare. I will also give each character 'solo sessions' between adventures, for what they want to focus on.
Dartanous: I'll send you a message! Lets talk :)
Sent you a PM :)
