Hello my name is Josh and I’m looking to begin hosting/DMing an online D&D 5e campaign. The adventure will begin with Storm King’s Thunder and have the option to transition into homebrew content building on the campaign. I’m looking to gather between 4 and 6 adventurers. What to expect from the campaign as a whole: It will see adventurers from level 5 to level 12 and will likely take over a year to complete. The campaign features a heavy emphasis on open ended exploration of the sword coast setting with some highly deadly encounters. Player’s that want their characters to survive to the end of the campaign must be able to be clever in a battle. What to expect from me as a DM: I have been DMing another campaign for about 6 months that I will be continuing to run during this campaign. I enjoy encouraging creative solutions and if you think outside the box or provide fantastic roleplay you will definitely be rewarded with lower DCs or advantage. Rule of cool is an awesome philosophy, if you want to try something that bends what RAW says, just back it up with reasoning, chances are I will let you roll on it.  Timeslot: Right now my plan is to run the campaign at 8PM-12AM EST Tuesday nights. What I expect from PCs: Timeliness and Accountability: DnD is a commitment. If your schedule is chaotic and you may miss sessions with little warning, this is not your campaign. I understand that life happens, and DnD is not and should not be paramount in your life, but giving warning that you may not be able to attend really makes all the difference. If absence is habitual I may consider removing you from the group. Really, outside of emergencies, I cannot really think of a reason you cannot spend a minute to notify the DM you will not be attending a session. Voice and Video: I find that voice-only sessions can be alright, but having video can really step up the experience as it allows players to not only voice their characters but also express them. For this reason voice and video will be mandatory for this campaign. You don’t need a high quality camera, just a functioning one that can be interfaced with your personal computer. I understand if you may need some time to acquire one. Voice will be over Discord and Video is over Roll 20. Acceptance and Kindness: While this is an 18+ group and mature language and themes will be commonplace, I want to foster an environment of support and acceptance so I have a zero tolerance for bigotry. This includes homophobia, sexism, and racism aimed at your fellow players.  That being said appropriately role played discrimination is a cornerstone of DnD so if your character hates elves because they wiped out their village, that’s fine. I intend on interviewing applicants 1-on-1 over discord then once I have gathered a list of players I will send out more information. To be considered for an interview please leave a reply to this forum post and answer the following questions. Alternatively if you would rather the information not be public, send it in a private message to me. Either way, if you are selected for an interview I will send you a private message here on the forum. Name and Age. Note: mature language and themes Timezone and whether or not you foresee problems with the timeslot Is the voice/video requirement problematic for you? If so, why? If you are anxious to go ahead and create your character, here are the creation rules I am using for my campaign. Character Creation: Permitted Sources: Core 3 (PHB/MM/DMG) Xanathar’s Guide to Everything Volo’s Guide to Monsters Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide Any extra options available in modules such as the Genasi. WoTC official Unearthed Arcana is discretionary to me, run any Unearthed Arcana past me. Revised Ranger is pre-approved. Unpermitted Sources: Homebrew, please don’t ask. Guildmaster’s Guide to Ravnica (Magic the Gathering) Wayfinder’s Guide to Eberon Feats: Feats are mostly open with the following exceptions. Magic Initiate is allowed, but must be a significant part of your character. Lucky is not permitted, IMO this is overbalanced. Other character creation notes: No duplicate classes within the group I am going to encourage (although I will likely bend on this) that there are no duplicate classes within the group. This encourages identity for each player and creates a more diverse role play environment. For these reasons classes will be first-come first-served based on the 1-on-1 interviews mentioned earlier. Your background shapes the world. The Sword Coast is an established setting, but in our campaign they can be altered and bent to fit your background. Your background is how you will shape the story of the campaign. One of my favorite things to do as a DM is to incorporate PCs’ backgrounds into magic items, side quests, and NPCs. The more detail you put in, the more you can expect to get out. Variant/Optional Rules: Currently I only plan to implement the feat optional rule, this means flanking, cleaving and other optional rules are not in play. If you are brought into the game and wish to present a case for an optional rule, I am more than happy to hear you.
Name: Chris Age: 41 Timezone: EST.  Tuesdays at 8 PM is pretty perfect for me.  I work a 9-5 Monday-Friday type of job so can't anticipate any problems. Voice and video should be fine.  I'm new to Roll20 so I've never used their interface, but I've used my headset and integrated laptop camera for plenty of conference calls with no problem. The rules sound fine, and I've got a few character concepts in mind.  I'd just as soon see what a few other members in the party would like to play and pick something that'll fit in with the team.

Name: D'Surak (yes, it's my real name) Age: 23 Timezone: PST (EST-3) The starting time shouldn't be a problem since I usually get out of work before then (timezone compensated for). I do have to work evenings every fifth day, so I'll occasionally miss a Tuesday (should be very rare). I'm also new to this platform and have little experience with it, but I have no problems with video. I'm looking forward to hearing more.

Name: Echo (Michael but prefer echo)  Age: 23 Timezone: CST the time selected is my preferred time to play I don't mind voice and video. I have used Roll20 for several campaigns and am comfortable with it. I am an experienced player/DM and fit into any group well. I don't have preference on what I like to play so I can play anything. I hate people missing sessions and wouldn't do it myself. My discord is ELITExECHO#7837
Id be interested in talking to find out if we're a good fit 1.  Joe, 36 2.  I'm East coast, and as a parent of 2 little ones no time before 8pm is really mine.  I should be able to hit 8 as a start time on Tuesdays without a hitch, and honestly Im a night owl so Id prefer games to go later as you are proposing. 3. Voice is an easy yes, Video is a probable yes.  My local playgroup (starfinder) is pausing because the DM is having a baby so I just started up roll20, but its a program we run for maps anyway.  I have discord no problem, and my work labtop has a camera, I just havent tried it. PM me for more Best
Hey Josh, I'm Paul, age 50.  been playing D&D for decades now.  I'm on the west coast, but have a flexible schedule and the time slot is no problem.  I currently play in a weekly game on roll20 and agree with you regarding the nuances that video allows. Cheers
