There is a main story arc that you'll want to get involved in but you can go about it any way you'd like. There are vast wilderness areas to explore, 150+ cities to visit, 12 different countries, geo political rivalries, and much more. You'll start at level 3 but have no background at first. You wake up with amnesia and have no idea who the other people around you are. You very well could be fighting side by side with the person who murdered your family in cold blood.
