Mists of Akuma is a 3rd party supplement for SotDL detailing a new Asian Steampunk world. You do NOT need this book or ANY knowledge of the setting, knowing it is Steampunk + Asia is generally enough to get by. But it does help to have the book. The industrial city of Daichi, guarded by zeppelins and power armored Gun-Samurai, the heart of a burgeoning empire. Years after the end of an invasion by warriors of a distant foreign land, a deadly mutagenic fog known as the Mists of Akuma descended upon the land making it unsafe to travel the roads at night. This is of no concern for you however as you dwell within the great city where heavy fans and air filters pull the mists away from the citizens. Here among the Oil and Blood that you will blaze your future....while in the darkest depths of Daichi a great and ancient evil threatens to awaken.... Note: I'm pretty new to Shadows of the Demon Lord but it's a really fantastic system. that said I'll be skipping over a few of it's halmarks. Namely the Sanity, Corruption, and Disease systems. Akuma is a dark and dangerous place but it's not quite as hellish as the " base " setting. Game will also very importantly start at level 3 with a good chunk of coin for the players to buy equipment with. I love the idea of starting at level 0 but I figure it will be more fun for everyone to kick things off when you get your first expert class to really define your character with.
