Ok, TL;DR I'll be serving in the army in November and I want to please my addiction to this game until then.  Anyone want to try his luck in the DEADLY depths of Undermountain post below.  Sessions will be in the form of oneshots (get in-get out) and no standard party is needed. This means that whenever 4-5 players sync their schedule, we play.  The campaign is a modded "Expedition to Undermountain 3E". Anyone is welcome to join, just keep in mind you might need to roll a few chars since in the first sessions you are pretty vulnerable and TPKs are common. (Disclaimer: Because 3.5 went too far with supplements, for character creation/progression you can use anything from PH, PH2 and one more supplement of your choice) The long Version Dungeon Crawl Playstyle Its pretty simple really. 1)Enter the Dungeon, you'd probably have a specific quest to get in there. 2)Explore the Dungeon 3)Kill, Loot and Survive 4)Escape to the Surface 5)Sell and Buy Items 6)Do it again Text-Only I always thought text-only would be wack but playing a couple of oneshots as a player really changed my mind. I decided to do this text based for the following reasons 1) to avoid the usual mic problems that happen all the time. 2) to keep out of character chat to a minimum so as to keep the immersion alive (any questions are to be sent by /w gm) 3) it helps me maintain an objective perspective on the game 4) it helps breach the language barrier since most people don't speak English very well. Having said that, we can use push to talk for out of character questions or rules to speed up the process. RP You can do your heavy /e RP or just type what you do or say. There IS social gameplay even in the dungeon but things like "my character wouldn't do X because he is Y" or "my character has INT 8 therefore i walk into the trap" will only get you killed. YOU are playing the character and more or less the character is a part of you, don't try to fake it much. Describing is good RP. "Talking in character" with a dumb voice is bad RP. Don't Know The Rules It doesn't really matter. If you think logically you'll probably reach the correct answer.  If you have never played 3.5 or Pathfinder before we can play an introductory encounter 1v1. During play, I will answer any questions you have and might even suggest moves at first levels until you get the hang of it. Why not 5E or Pathfinder? Because 3.5 Edition is more realistic (as far as D&D can be). It tries to emulate real life as much as it can and I respect that because it favors using your brain to overcome obstacles. For example, as a lvl 1 character, you can still win a grapple against a lvl 20 fey the size of your palm because its the-size-of-your-palm! duh Why not pathfinder? Well I've been DMing 3.5 since i was 11 and knowing the various rules and supplements by heart makes it easier on me. After playing for a couple of years now I got sick DMing for 5E due to it's more "PC game-like" mechanics. (You know, after you disarm someone in 5E he can just pick his sword up and chop your head off while you stare) So 5th edition compels the DM to fudge the rules to promote RP. This leads to deus-ex machinas and scapegoats to patch the story so the campaign can go on and eventually it becomes a boring mess. The Adventure: Expedition To Undermountain The adventure takes place in the great dwarven kingdom know as Undermoutain below the surface of Waterdeep. You are compelled by fame, greed, knowledge or even the Mad Mage himself to venture into Undermountain's depths. You start as 1st level characters meeting in the Yawning Portal Inn, descending into the well to find another adventurer that has been lost in the dungeon. This table will be open till November since I will have to serve. Therefore, completing the adventure seems unlikely. Even if the adventure has a general storyline, it is not story based so don't worry about missing out. Character Creation You can create your character using races/classes/feats etc from Player's Handbook, Player's Handbook II and one more supplement of your choice. Still, due to the extremely huge collection of supplements I will have to confirm any unorthodox choices.  - You start at level 1 - You can either roll your abilities on the table (so that I can witness) or use the standard array (15-14-13-12-10-8) - I have pre-generated characters if you don't have the time to create one or you don't know how. If you die, you'd have to make your own one though. Sessions The sessions are to be played west marches style. Each session will take about 3-4 hours starting and ending at the Yawning Portal Inn. Since there is a chance we will be mixing parties I will push to escape the dungeon before closing a session. On the matter of when, there is no fixed schedule, discuss with other players when you want to play. When a party of 4 is filled we can play. Generally I have an open schedule so I'm rather versatile.
