The Iron Dogs The year is 2521 IC. Empire stability slowly comes to an end as Chaos hordes cross Ostland, embarking on a 'Storm of Chaos'. Men, Elves, and Dwarves stand as one to face the Old World's greatest threat yet, but even together, all hope is lost. As the last bastions of Order hold up resistance, many interpret these dark times as the end of days. You play the lieutenant/second-in-command and veteran member of the Iron Dogs, a band of mercenaries from all the corners of the Old World led by a charismatic, ambitious leader - Captain Reinholt Volkman. You were that one fool who he provided to you a single, almost too-good-to-be-true opportunity so, so long ago. After a defeat with devastating losses at trying to stop the advance of Chaos, the mercenary band is forced to flee, away from Chaos conflict, in search of safety and coin elsewhere. Undeterred, Reinholt hopes to amass a fortune away from the conflict, then use it to pave his people to freedom. Taking as many contracts they can, the Iron Dogs continue the fight in a world prophesied to end. This is not a tale of heroes confronting the tide of darkness, it is those trying to survive it. Rules : Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay Core Rules (4th/2nd Ed.) (Depends on player Preference) Requirements : Whilst there are no real requirements to join this campaign, the rules are quite in depth, some previous roleplay experience would probably be of use. It goes without saying knowledge of the Warhammer World will be beneficial; however, we all start somewhere, so, I am more than happy to give the crib notes on what the setting is like. Fortunately , WFRP is set in the Empire and the Old World (think central E urope at the beginning of the renaissance) so you won’t need to be versed in the entirety of the lore. What to Expect: Iron Dog members with names and fleshed out personalities and backstories (no redshirts here). An opportunity to impact the entire world in small and great ways and the power to leave a lasting impression on every character you meet. Combat as gritty and dangerous as the game can provide. Month-spanning arcs A mature game with 18+ themes. A personalized solo game that reacts to the player's character creation options. A great story unfolding around you that changes to your decisions. The game is going to be a sandbox one, with an overarching narrative to push the game. Your job as the Captain's most trusted lieutenant is to get coin for the company and lead its members. Or, if seeking opportunities for yourself, take up a bounty contract or follow a random adventure hook. The choice is yours. This game will be text-based with loose scheduling, which I will entail when I select a player. The reason why I am looking to run this as a solo is because of my turbulent scheduling and it'll be easier to branch these NPCs relationships to one person. I can, of course, expand the limit to two players if persuaded. The two of you will have the same role. There will be a heavy focus on role-playing, so if you’re the kind of player who likes to invest in a backstory and really portray a deep character, then this is going to be right up your alley. Extra XP will be rewarded for excellent roleplaying. As a solo game, you will receive ample XP bonus to advance your character as well.
