Hello, I'm Dio,
I have a month or two of free time and I need to give my DMing
itch a good ol' scratch with a good ol' dungeon crawl I've run in the
past.
This is a Dungeon Crawl module which means
-no boring worldbuilding stuff
-no important storyline & twists
-fully defined quests and encounters
In terms of Playstyle
Its pretty simple really.
1)Enter the Dungeon
2)Explore the Dungeon
3)Kill, Loot and Survive
4)Escape to the Surface
5)Downtime & Rest
6)Do it again
Exploration, Combat (and loot!) comes first, RP comes second. That
being said, your best bet is not to take it as a PC game cause that
will get you killed. Common, real life logic is enough for you to
survive this module. On the RP side I'll do my part, you're welcome
to do your own thing.
What You Need
Both noobs and veterans are welcome to join. You don’t need to
have experience with the rules or even RPGs in general. I can handle
the rules, you can handle your choices.
Sessions
Due to the nature of the module, a session can be played with
story integrity even when some of you are missing since each session
starts and ends at the Inn. Think of it as consecutive oneshots, with
the characters exploring deeper and deeper into the dungeon. There are no schedule constraints. As long as 4 players sync their schedule, an expedition is due.
Each
session will generally take 3-5 hours.
The Adventure: Expedition To Undermountain
The adventure takes place in the great dwarven kingdom and lair of
the Mad Mage Halaster known as Undermoutain below the surface of the
city of Waterdeep. You are compelled by fame, greed, knowledge or
even the Mad Mage himself to venture into Undermountain's depths.
You start as 1st level characters meeting in the Yawning Portal
Inn, descending into the well to find another adventurer that has
been lost in the dungeon. Thereafter, as you gain experience and fame
you will be hired for more such quests or even start expeditions of your own.
This table will be open till November since I will have to serve.
Therefore, completing the adventure seems unlikely. Even if the
adventure has a general storyline, it is not story based so don't
worry about missing out.
Character Creation
You can create your character using races/classes/feats etc from
Player's Handbook, Player's Handbook II and one more supplement of
your choice. Still, due to the extremely huge collection of
supplements I will have to confirm any unorthodox choices.
- You start at level 1
- You can either roll your abilities on the table (so that I can
witness) or use the standard array (15-14-13-12-10-8)
- I have pre-generated characters if you don't have the time to
create one or you don't know how. If you die, you'd have to make your
own one though.
If you want to play D&D like it was meant to be played, post below or send me a PM.
