You can't demote yourself to a player when you created the game, since games are linked to the account that created them.  You can create a bookmark from the "Join as Player" button and use that to join the game if you have promoted someone else to run the game.

Hello James K.,

I have moved your post to the Specific Use Questions and Macros forum.

Additionally, you will need to use the "Join as Player" button in the in-game settings menu to switch to a player only view. Then you can try the shortcut that Kraynic provided. However, there can be an issue where a bookmark pulls up an incorrect game if you are playing in multiple games. If you run into this, you will need to just join the game as normal and then switch to "Join as Player" mode.

We hope this information helps. If you have any further questions, feel free to let us know.

Thanks!

As a workaround you could register a second account  on Roll20 and join the game.
