In roughly the time it took you to think up and type that bon mot, you could have joined Dragonsfoot and posted that you were looking for players. Granted, it would like slightly longer to sign up for G+ and hunt down a few OSR communities, but that is still an option. Brett and I both are running stable, long term games of rules that are older than BECMI on Roll20 and of the type you seem to be interested in running. We're telling you what worked for us - that recruiting people not active on Roll20 is a good strategy; a year later, I still get people asking if they can join my game from an old Google+ post. @Mike Blanc - the BECMI rules can be legally found via sites like DnD Classics in the guise of the Rules Cyclopedia or the individual box set booklets. Those seeking a cheaper (free) and legal option should google the Dark Dungeons retro-clone.
