[LFP] DND 5E Campaign

Two decades years ago the Children of the Wyrm, a secretive cult who worshiped Sannis The Lady of the Black plunged the world into darkness. Sannis the Queen of all Dragons covered the continent of Ascar in a red, burning blaze. All was lost until the brave heroes known as the Ferocious Five slayed her but not before losing their own lives in the process. Ascar continues to grow and heal but it is not what it once was. With the death of Sannis new and old foes alike have risen into power. A power vacuum threatens the lands as the Orcs and Humans compete for control and are not on friendly terms. With the threat of a civil war looming among other things a new breed of hero arises. A few things to note before applying for the campaign: - The game will take place 7pm on a Friday EST (First game will be the 9th of November but will do a session zero before then) - Voice chat is required. We will be using Discord. - We will be using 27 point buy. All official classes and races will be allowed apart from the following:     Aarakocra, Variant Human, Mimic, Warforged - This is a good themed campaign so evil characters need not apply. Chaotic neutral will need to be approved as often I find they can work against the party and the over arching story. - The games will be around three hours long, once a week. I don't expect you to show for every session but being able to attend most sessions is a must. - It will have about a 50/50 roleplay and combat split. - Everyone is welcome. New players, experienced players, male, female, etc. Players must be respectful and friendly to each other or they will be booted. Oh and no sticklers please. - This game will involve roleplaying between players. It's okay if you aren't comfortable with roleplay right off the bat, just have a go. We won't judge you :) - No PvP or theft between party members. When we speak off topic I ask that we keep polarizing opinions to a minimum as they often can cause arguments between the group. - This game will be 18+ as it may have theme's that aren't appropriate for younger people. If you are fine with all of the rules I have listed above then feel free to apply! Your name and age: Your experience with D&D (Can leave this blank if you're new): Your favorite moment in D&D: Do you listen do any D&D related podcasts?: What class and race you would like to play: Pitch me a backstory (doesn't have to be long)
Your name and age: Hi, I’m Brian. I’m 27. Your experience with D&D: I’ve played D&D for 4 years, 5E only. Your favorite moment in D&D: My favorite moment I’ve had was as my Dragonborn fighter, having to go against one of his rivals and feeling the pleasure of killing that rival. (Sorry if that sounds a little dark) Do you listen do any D&D related podcasts?: I don’t really listen to podcasts, but I watch D&D shows, like Critical Role and Tesseract from Arcan Arcade. What class and race you would like to play: I have 2 characters I wouldn’t mind bringing in. One is a half-orc paladin, the other is a elven wizard/cleric. Pitch me a backstory: -For the paladin, he was adopted  by a military family, after his parents died, when he was young. As he was going up, he looked up to his adopted father and wanted to follow in his footsteps. He trained hard, joined the military, and eventually was placed under his fathers command. -For the wizard/cleric, she was raised under a noble family who was adapted in seeing into the future. She had attained that power and through her visions, she saw a different path to was to take, that wasn’t similar to her families lineage. She had forsaken her family line, and began her worship for the Raven Queen.
I go by DJ until, I'm more familiar with the players as people. I'm well over 18+.  I've played extensive 3.5 edition and have both played and DM'd (currently DM'ing Hoard of the Dragon Queen/Descent into Avernus) 5th Edition. My favorite moment is when a fellow player killed a frost giant with...a beehive.  I have listened to Drunks & Dragons and Critical Roll.  I have a Ghostwise Halfling Fighter or a human rogue that I'd like to play.  The halfling's story is that his village was constantly under attack from a rival goblin tribe, so he went against their traditions and solicited martial training from a nearby town in secret. When the goblins came in force, he defeated them at the cost of revealing his secret to the village. He was banished for this and now seeks the murder of his brother without the aid of his tribe. Neutral Good.  The rogues story is that she's from a well connected family, but got tired of her cushy lifestyle and politics preventing her goal of helping poor folks. So she left her family behind and trained in Amn as a thief before returning home to rob her own family's wealth to divvy up to local charities and other places in secret. After dismantling her family's wealth, she moved on to other towns to see the poor are taken care of proper and financially in a similar fashion. Neutral Good.
Your name and age: BBQ Jack, I'm around 22 years of age. Your experience with D&D (Can leave this blank if you're new): I've got around a good 5 years of experience with 5e. Your favorite moment in D&D: Heh, this one time a rogue of mine was at a convention of dungeons in celebration of this ancient, conan like leader. My party had abysmally failed to deal with the last dungeon, and I was the last one up for it. With some uncanny wit and a straight head, I managed to finish it perfectly and unlock its 'secret ending' by arming the 'troops' before dealing with the 'wizard'. I was awarded a masterwork sword and fancy red cape for my efforts. My party was quite surprised I, a level 3, managed to clear it, given I had to go against a bone devil and several other monsters. Do you listen do any D&D related podcasts?: Not really, no. A bit of Mike Mearls happy hour, and I've been trying to get into some others, but otherwise no. What class and race you would like to play: I'm good with any. I usually play humans but I know my way around the other more exotic ones. Although I do have an idea for a mastermind rogue. Pitch me a backstory (doesn't have to be long): Grew up in a crime lord family, this rogue had all he could want for. Until it was taken from him in one fateful night. The last survivor and scion of this criminal people, this rogue is on the partial run from both the law and rivals of his family.
