[SR4A] The River City Wrecking Crew Wants YOU!

Tired of running the shadows in Seattle? In need of a change of scenery? Why not join up with the River City Wrecking Crew? Tales of the River City Wrecking Crew is a budding Shadowrun 4A campaign set in the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metroplex of 2072. Currently the game is in the planning stages but we'll be making our maiden run on March 30th. To alleviate scheduling and travel headaches, we'll meet every two weeks for the game online through Roll20 and if possible, Google Hangouts so we can all communicate verbally online. We'll also have Facebook, Google+ and a blog page where the game schedule will be posted in addition to the Obsidian Portal page . What makes this game different isn't just the locale; it's that it isn’t your average Shadowrun campaign. A lot of times the stereotypical campaign can be described as “mercenary” or “organized mayhem”. “Tales” is intended to be a little more heroic and cinematic. The influences and inspirations of this campaign include Leverage, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel, along with a variety of cyberpunk authors and movies. I think the best way to sum up what I'm going for here is "rogues with hearts of gold". What I'm also looking for is an emphasis on roleplaying, keeping the min-maxing to a... er... minimum ;) As I'm a neophyte Shadowrun GM but long-time lover of the setting, we're going to start out simple, using the character generation rules posted here: http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/tales-from-the-river-city-wrecking-crew/wikis/character-generation . As time goes on, we can add more books to the library, but we're going to crawl before we walk, etc. A more in-depth overview of the game concept can be found here . Character generation guidelines are here . Two character slots have already been filled. I'll take character submissions up to March 20th whereupon I'll let the lucky players know they've been chosen. As this will be an "ensemble" cast or "troupe-style" game, all others will be put on a waiting list to be contacted when and if players leave and characters die. So who am I? My name is Dale Meier. I'm a veteran gamer of 27 years, having spent 21 of those as a GM at a variety of home, college and convention games. My interests span a wide variety of genres ranging from historical to science-fiction RPGs as well as some wargames. I was also one of the original contributors to the Interregnum APA in the 1990s. My first experience with RPGs was getting a second hand magenta-boxed Moldvay Basic D&D set at age 12; after that I branched out to WEG's D6 Star Wars RPG. My first GM experience? Running SJG's Toon for a couple of high school friends during Christmas break! XD Since then I've run a wide range of games including Pathfinder, Spycraft 1.0, Traveller, DC Universe, the D6 system, Paranoia, Red Dwarf and Call of Cthulhu. So if you want to run the shadows of the midwest and see how people live out east in the Awakened frontier of 2072, drop me a line!
I've never played Shadowrun but I've always wanted to, sign me up
I've also never played Shadowrun but it sounds fun and I'm familiar with the Omaha area so that bit intrigues me, so I guess I'm game.
Add me to the pot. I've never played, but I'm willing to learn
Add me to the mix I really love the setting and want to play some shadow run
Thanks for your interest, folks! Cursingbulldog, are you currently living in the Omaha area or a native who moved elsewhere? Just so you're all aware, we have two pixies in the group so far, one a ninja and the other a rigger/caster type. They're brothers (both IC and OOC) and the vibe I'm getting from them is a bit like the pixies/sprites in "Willow" (yep, the ones with the cheesy French accents ;)... Feel free to send your character stats to me when they're ready and thanks again! Pax et bonum, Dale
Alright you got me.. i've heard alot about shadowrun, never played it, so imma write up a character sheet and sign up if you still have spots! Where can i get ahold of you?
Oh this sounds pretty nice, but from the looks of it you plan to run this game saturdays, If so, I will not be able to join as I got my own game on that day
Any estimate on what time these sessions would occur? Also time-zones... yeah that'd be something handy to know beforehand... I've GMed a bit of SR4, and I'm interested in seeing this 'Tales' model you're presenting.... that being said, I'd like to know beforehand if I"ll even be able to join you guys.
I've never lived there but I have family who live/lived in omaha that I visit several times a year so I know of the major roads and attractions. I live about 3 hours to the east in Des Moines.
I would love to join your ranks. I have Experience with Shadowrun from the very beginning thru 3rd edition. Not so much with 4th. I also know nothing about Omaha, but I can fake it! :-)

Ars Sentientia and Quatar, only the first game will be on a Saturday. After that it'll be on Sundays noon or 1 p.m. for 4 hours or thereabouts. The time zone will be Central Standard Time (I'm in Omaha, NE USA) and it will be every two weeks. Any other questions, folks? :) Pax et bonum, Dale
As a side note, because of the response I've gotten here and on other boards, I'm closing recruitment down to keep the number of candidates at a manageable level. Thank you for your interest in my game. You have until March 20 to send me your character's stats. :) Pax et bonum, Dale
