Anyone interested in running a GURPS game?

I don't have any experience with the system, but I would really like to try GURPS sometime. Is there anyone here who's up for running a game, or has an open spot in a running game? Preferebly scifi or fantasy (GURPS seems to have so much possibilities, would be shame to not be able to use any of the non-realistic ones :P )
Same on all accounts. GURPS seems like such a good system, it's surprising how hard it is to find a group for. >_<
It IS a really good system. I've run almost every genre in it, often with the same characters (one adventure to another). Never had a problem. Some folks are overwhelmed with the number of choices, but that's just what they are. Lots of genre books to choose from too. Could run something, but not setup for either fantasy or sci-fi at the moment. Do have an X-Files kinda game (TotM) played using discord and Google Earth.

I played and run the game in the past (from when it was Wizard/Melee all the way up through 4E.) Don’t have a game atm. It is at the high end of rules crunch and that does tend to put some folks off. And it creates a bit more work for the GM as a result. If I run these days I tend to keep at GURPs Lite. If you are interested PM me with details as to schedule and such. If I get enough interest I could throw something together.

I am currently running 2 games. GURPS World War II (but that is about to come to an end) and GURPS After the End (Fallout style). I could possibly take 1 or 2 more people in the ATE game however at the point to which they are at it would not be appropriate. We game every other Sunday, 11am PDT. PM me if you are interested and I will see what I can do but no promises at this time (just so busy). The name of the game is BNL Brand New Life. Mike
"High end of rules crunch" It can actually be less crunchy than DND. The thing most people forget/don't realize is that GURPS is more of toolbox than a set of rules. GM needs to choose beforehand what all rules to include and in doing so, they can make wherever they want on cinematic/realistic and narrative/crunchy spectrums.
^^Sounds like Mao is offering to run. PM him Dennis.
Well, there clearly is more than enough interest for a game for what I can see. Maybe we can use this thread to plan something? @Mike W: If my math is correct 11am PDT would work out to 20.00 GMT+1. I'm afraid that would probably be a bit to early for me due to working hours. Plus, if you think it's nog an appropriate time to join, then it's probably nog a good idea. If you decide to run a new game or arrive at a more appropriate moment, do let me know though! @Rerednaw: sent you a PM.
Maybe a mech game would be kinda cool
I haven't been able to find the rules for mecha in GURPS. Are they treated more like vehicles or more like characters? One of several characters I made for fun and to see what GURPS could handle was a mecha pilot. I wasn't sure how the game handled mecha, so I had statted it up as a high-cost Ally with AI / robot meta-traits and various advantages like Compartmentalized Mind (Controls), Payload, and Sealed to represent it being ablargely mindless vehicle. I quickly realized that a lot of advantages I'd been thinking as largely fantasy-oriented mapped incredibly well to it, and I got a pretty interesting robot out of it. If the mecha were being handled something like that, rather than the item-like treatment GURPS seems to treat stock vehicles, I would love to play in a mecha game.
well when i said mechs i mean like large exosuits, maybe 12-16 feet tall. not quite Titanfall levels but pretty big
GURPS 3rd Edition has a genre book 'Mecha', available from Warehouse 23.
Found the preview. I guess the default GURPS rules just treat them like a set of equipment items. That makes a kind of sense, but that's a lot more number crunching for what seems like less variety, as well as making unusual traits harder to fit in. I'm not really picky about scale or whether it'd be real robot / super robot, but default GURPS mecha rules definitely isn't for me.
Then why not a more general sci-fi game. Once it's running, you could always add in mecha once you've worked out the numbers.
I am running a sci-fi Gurps game right now. Sunday morning 7 am pst - 11 am pst. https://app.roll20.net/join/4861795/BlEswg The game just started a couple sessions ago.
Sci-fi came up on account of Jack apparently looking for mecha, but it's not really what I'm looking for. I would have a hard time functioning that early regardless, I'm a ball of envy right now that you can GM at that time. >_<

Was debating running or playing in a group soon. Half way tempted to a 'casual campaign' meaning it could be just when folks have time to play for a sword and sorcery game based on Elder Scrolls world (Skyrim or Morrowwind setting). Characters races coming strictly from Elder Scrolls world (so elves - Wood Elves and High Elves, kajit (cat men), Argonians, Orcs, and a few flavors of humans (nords, red guards, imperials, etc). Strictly TL 3+1 (magic to effectively raise tech level by one). Obviously GURPS 4th Edition, Basic Book ONLY to keep things SIMPLE. Would there be any interest before I start making up this sort of setting and game?
Hm. Elder Scrolls dialed back the magic and political intrigue significantly between those two games, so I would see Skyrim as being substantially more limited, but I'd be interested either way. If nothing else, I could probably twist the canonical alteration / mysticism spells into a fun trickster mage character.
I'll get get started making this. Again not too hopefull as to be fair I've had some pretty bad players here. Looks like middle of November and it will be an invite only game. Need to think about how to set things up and handle the rules appropiately as it's been almost a year since I GM'ed and the game tanked.
Seriously I would set up a date, time, and just see who shows up before getting too deep into it. :) Sadly many of my GURPS games involve tons of messages, chats, forum posts on chargen....and then the players ghost the first 3 sessions. Don’t spend too much time on world building....I’d really keep it simple. Maybe media res just to get folks familiar with the system. Good luck! Paul D said: I'll get get started making this. Please let me know if it's Morrowind or Skyrim, at least. I was messing with a character concept night before last, and ended up realizing that she didn't readily fit the Skyrim setting like I'd wanted. I'd have to spend an hour or two outside of game refreshing my memory of Skyrim before I could make her fit.
I and a good friend are looking for a game to join in on. Would prefer something modern to sci-fi. Its been a while since we gamed together with him running it. We've tried to game together but the game always died.

I've played GURPS Supers for 5 years, but it was a long long time ago, I really look forward to restart, but I've never run a campaign in english, I don't know how it would be...
Have started an post-apocalyptic campaign based in the US SW. Would be looking for two or three players. Game runs every other Sat, from 1100hrs to ???. East Coast US based. General GURPS rules. Western flavor, but varying tech-levels throughout. Human characters only for start. Google Earth (on the PC, not the InterNet version) or US map helpful. Player input welcome. Newbies welcome. Questions welcome. English only (I'm not THAT talented). Running on Discord for voice. TotME.
Hello, I’m new to the group, so I thought I’d wave to the room, and register my interest in any upcoming games. My availability can be a bit tricky, but if I’m lucky, maybe times will line up. I haven’t played GURPs in a long time, but I’m pretty sure I can pick it up again.
Running a game looking for a couple more players. We play Saturday from 10 am - 1 pm. https://app.roll20.net/join/4861795/BlEswg Currently in Act 4 of 10.
