The Adventure The holy city of Elturel has disappeared from the Forgotten Realms, all that remains is a blasted crater and the hundreds of refugees headed to the harbor city of Baldur's Gate, a city with a reputation for being the last place anyone desperate would want to go, however with no other choice hundreds of those displaced by the disappearance of what was thought to be a divinely protected city flee to the Grey Harbor. In addition to these challenges, Baldur's Gate has problems of it's own. The Grand Duke of the city has disappeared, leaving a power vacuum in his wake, and the Flaming Fist Mercenary Company, a forceful organization that take the security of Baldur's Gate into their own hands at every opportunity have stepped more into the light and are keeping out anyone they don't like. Under the shadows of the city's walls, while the authority seems occupied with the refugee crisis at the gate, shadows darker than the city's normal shades run between dark alleys, slink beneath the cobbled streets and meet in unholy alliances in the dark of night. Dukes scheme and ally in order to propel themselves towards the throne left undefended by the Grand Duke's disappearance, and in the deepest darkness, smiles cross the malformed lips of creatures not from this plane. You and your companions may not be here by choice, something binds you together. A dark secret that each of you played a part in, and someone in this city knows exactly what you did. How deep will you dive into the shadows of Baldur's Gate and beyond? How far will you Descend into this mysterious and dangerous life? This is what we will find out. Who I am: Greetings friends. My name is Stewart, a long-term player of RPGs and an aspiring game designer. I've been DMing various tabletop games for over 12 years and have run players through campaigns both written by WotC and of my own creation. 5th edition is by far the game that I have the most experience in, and between thousands of hours playing this game, and over 2500 hours on Roll20 I am an asset to anyone seeking a Dungeon Master for this game. What you get with me as a DM: • A collaborative story-telling experience: I don't believe that either the text of the book or the DM is the final say of anything. I want each story to be unique and something that you'll remember for years to come. Your decisions and character choices have impact to the world, and will have both benefits and consequences according to the world works. • A designer's eye: I don't restrict anything in my games, so long as I can take a look at it before it hits the table. Homebrew, UA, and anything else I am open to including, so long as I can adjust it and work with you to make it balanced with the rest of the game. I also don't like including just plain +1 weapons and armor, each piece of equipment will have an effect and a story behind it. • A safe space to have fun: I don't tolerate real-world discrimination of any kind. This is a game and people should be able to have fun without having to defend who they are. In addition, in-game discrimination should be kept to a minimum. Regardless of influences from the real world, there doesn't need to be the same hateful history that humans have created in this fantasy world. I want everyone to feel welcome at this table, and it costs nothing to be kind and considerate. • Understanding: Life happens, and sometimes the game isn't your primary concern, so long as you give me some warning, I'll make it work and you won't be penalized for something outside your control. This is something that we all do together and I want it to be a positive experience. If this sounds interesting and fun to you, please put your application in the the Application thread below and follow the form that I have provided, I am also happy to answer any questions in the Question thread below.
