Weekly Game Session Summaries Part #04:

Thank You For Playing today's game 11/10/2019 - From 8:05 pm EDT, until 10:15 pm EDT, and our 232 nd Gaming Session, goes out to:   Bard – Human - Maevis Silverleaf & Cleric / Magic-User – Half Elf - Quintolos -  Roxxifarius   Bard Jester – Human – Balen - Christopher G. Ranger – Half Elf - Camlin - Freeman3294 Warlock (AS&SoH2E) – Human Hermaphrodite -Doña Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul - The Fictionaut (New Player)   Game Summary for Sunday Evening (11/10/2019): It is now 25 days into the adventure (since setting off in the Belle Venture), and 7.25  hours into day 19, (1:15pm).  It is now late August. Coal Blackstone the ranger, continues to run away in Fear from the effects of the Yuan-Ti’s Fear spell! Rowan the Guardian, tries to wrestle him down, as Coal runs past him up the passage but was unsuccessful. Then Cassandra, Xilicien, Sheila, Camlin and Phicenta but, coal dodges all of their attempts at stopping him! Coal is followed by Sheila, it’s not till Coal is running along the riverbank, that the fear spell finally wears off and Sheila catches up to him and they go back inside the cavern to regroup with the others. With the webbing last about another 50 minutes, the party decides to check out the tasloi watched gate about 500 feet to the south. Sheila heals back 2 hit points on Grax as they walk down. When their lantern reveals two groups of tasloi to either side of the gate Mavis Silverleaf the bard, starts playing panpipes in an attempt to Charm the tasloi and succeeds, which will last for 10 minutes. All but 4 of the tasloi where charmed, having made saving throws vs Petrification at -2 on the roll. Balen starts playing his panpipes to Rally Allies, to give a +1 on Saving Throws. Xilicien, cast the Confusion spell on the tasloi, Which breaks the Maevis’ Bard Charm, and lasting 9 rounds. An 1d100 was rolled and 81 comes up, showing that things start with the confused attacking Meavis and the party for 1 round and would get rolled again for the next. Coal, having readied an Arrow with his +1 Foeseeker Longbow, fires and drops Tasloi #16! Round 1 of Combat: Tasloi #08, attacks Coal with a Javelin but missed! Tasloi #15, Attacks Xillicien with a Javelin but missed! Tasloi #19, rolls 1 one (1d20), and fumbles with the javelin, fumble roll indicates he hits a friend but none are nearby. Cassandra, just goes invisible with her ring of invisibility. Maevis, Tossed a magical +1 Shell Shuriken of crushing at Tasloi #19 but missed! Rowan, fires an arrow with his short bow but missed Tasloi #08 Sheila, rolls a 1, fumbling her magical +2 mace, trying to strike tasloi #19, fumble roll indicates it is dropped to the north east of her, 10 ft away. Phicenta the warlock (Character class from Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea 2 nd Ed), attacks with the two-handed sword and does 1 hit point damage to Tasloi #15! Xilicien, missed striking Tasloi #19 with his quarterstaff. Coal, fires an arrow with the Foeseeker Bow at Tasloi #08 and missed! Grax, hits Tasloi #19 for 12 damage, using his magical gauntlets of fencing and +1 Merthúvial   long sword, defeating him! Camlin, hits Tasloi #08 with his Halberd for 7 damage, dropping him! Those with 2 nd attacks in Round 1 go now: Coal, nails Tasloi #15 with an arrow from the Foeseeker bow for 15 damage, defeating him! End of Combat!   Area Description: The walls and 20 ft high ceiling here actually have phosphorescent fungi glowing upon them, The Passage here is flanked by two square stone blockhouses carved into the walls. Each of them have shuttered windows. The gate itself is made of grillwork. The gate is closed and has a visible large lock on this side. You noticed a similar gate beyond this one.   Meavis, tries to tell the still charmed tasloi to unlock the gate but, it appears they do not understand Common. Coal & Sheila search the dead tasloi and find a key upon one of them and try it in the lock, which unlocks the gate. Coal, however could not pull open the gate until, Grax, assisted him with it. (They’re Combined ability strength score needed to be 25 or more!) Coal and Grax try for the door on the east side blockhouse, when a couple javelins come flying out at each of them, both missing! Coal tries to throw open the door but it’s apparently locked from inside. Grax, tries to listen and then check for traps around the door. He didn’t hear anything or find a trap. This time Coal, then Grax try to bash open the door but neither are successful at the attempt! Meanwhile, Sheila tries to knock out a charmed tasloi with her quarterstaff by pummeling, as a javelin comes flying out of the east blockhouse missing her. A charmed tasloi south of them witnessed this and is snapped out of it’s charm but is frozen in place of fright, on what to do next. It is now late August. Area description: This large chamber, is dimly lit by phosphorescent fungi clinging to the walls and ceiling. Blocking the far wall is a large open grillwork gate (20 feet high and 20 feet wide). It is flanked by two square blockhouses carved into the walls of the cavern. Each pillar has two shuttered windows that look onto the passage beyond the gate. The gates are closed and has a large lock on each. Beyond the gate, other than a second gate, nothing more can be seen. You had to deal with the tasloi guarding the gate and had charmed a bunch (5 on the west side of them while knocking unconscious the three that were not charmed. Meanwhile there appear to be a few up in the gates' blockhouses ready to throw javelins down on the party. You have ~40 minutes and likely less before the Yuan-Ti and additional tasloi break through the magical webbing 600 ft to the north. Sheila, runs for the east blockhouse door to try and slam it open as a tasloi throws a javelin at her from an unshuttered window on the 2 nd floor. The javelin flys past her as she crashes into the door to no effect! Balen, tries next, by tip-toeing between the unconscious tasloi, then trying to kick the door in as a javelin comes flying at him, striking him for 5 damage, but he still managed to kick the door open, which was probably weakened by Sheila’s attempt, as it gives and you hear something crashing to the ground on the other side. Coal Blackstone, fires his magical +1 Foeseeker bow at that Tasloi in the window, scoring a solid hit right between the eyes for 9 damage! Sheila moves straight back from the doorway area, prompting another tasloi to toss a javelin from an upper window. Coal, spotting it fires the bow, scoring a hit for 5 damage. Grax, is the first one to enter into the block house spotting the wooden bar that was blocking their entrance, on the ground and several barrels of javelins. There is a flight of stairs going up to the 2 nd floor. Grax, goes up the stairs and gets attacked by a tasloi using a javelin, which hits him for 2 damage! Grax, retaliates with his broad sword, assisted by his magical gauntlets of fencing, dealing 9 damage to the tasloi and dropping him! Grax, looks around the 2 nd floor and sees more barrels of javelins, 1 tasloi with an arrow between the eyes, 2 charmed tasloi, just standing there and the tasloi he just struck down (which has an arrow in a shoulder). He looks for levers thinking there could be ones to open the two gates but does not see any. Viewing the area between the two grillwork gates, Balen, (Inside the east blockhouse), can see the opposite block house with two opened windows and the ground space between the gates. He notes there are 2 more windows on the south wall of the east blockhouse he is in. Sheila now attempts to go down to the south gate, and as she does so 2 javelins come flying at her, one scores a critical hit roll of 20 dealing double damage of 6, the other missed her! Coal, fires an arrow at one of the tasloi in the window, hitting for 5 damage! Sheila and Grax, move down towards the 2 nd grillwork gate, and see it is not locked. Coal seeing a javelin fly past him. Coal attempted to catch the javelin with his free hand, after loosing the arrow, using his magical gloves of arrow snaring, but could not catch it, (a saving throw roll vs paralyzation used, rolled 3 needed ≥ 11. Sheila and Grax attempt to pull open the grillwork gate, when suddenly from above a spiked 20 ft x 20 ft net falls upon them, and Balen and Coal! It deals out 2D8 damage -1 for each Armor Class below 10. So Coal took no damage, Sheila took 1, Balen took 4, Grax takes 7 hit points damage! After they get the spikey netting off of them , they see that a wooden framework was on the ceiling, disguised to look like the cavern wall was supporting the netting trap. Once everyone moves past the south gate, the party uses the padlock and chain from the north gate to lock it as the key they had did not work in the current gate’s lock. They travel some 600 ft south when they spot humanoid looking frog guards up ahead, with 2 big boats to the west side of the passage. Two guards approach the party, demanding to see travel papers. Meanwhile, Maevis starts playing his panpipes to charm them but was unsuccessful. Balen tries to do the same but also failed to charm. As the Bullywugs approach closer to the party, Sheila attacks one with her magical +2 footman’s mace for 7 damage, dropping him. Coal fires an arrow at the other nailing him for 15 damage and dropping that one! It is now late August. Bullywugs whom are guarding the main entrance at a cave mouth above a path which weaves under a waterfall and spills into the underground river where the aboleth was originally encountered have noticed the party and come hopping up northwards towards them to engage them. First asking for travel papers. The party had struck first and then combat round 1 starts as more of the frogmen come hopping up! Cassandra the witch, turns invisible using her ring of invisibility. Maevis the bard, using his magical +1 composite bow fires an arrow for 5 damage, at Bullywug #05! Sheila the cleric, using her magical +2 foot man’s mace hits Bullywug #05, defeating him! Phicenta the warlock, using a two-handed sword hits Bullywug #06, defeating him! Bullywug #02, tries to hit Phicenta with a spear but missed! Balen the Bard, tries to Rally Allies, playing on his pan pipes and singing, in order to give everyone a +1 on To Hit rolls, which will take effect on the 3 rd round of combat. Coal the ranger, using his magical Foeseeker +1 Long Bow, fires an arrow at Bullywug #04 but missed! Bullywug #03, using a spear, missed Phicenta! Grax the dwarf fighter/thief, using a short bow, fires an arrow at Bullywug #04, hitting for 1 damage! Coal, fires his 2 nd arrow this round, hitting Bullywug #04 for 7 damage, defeating him! Maevis, fires his 2 nd arrow but it missed Bullywug #02. Coal, fires his 3 rd arrow at Bullywug # 02 and hits for 2 damage!   Round 2 of Combat: Maevis, fires an arrow but missed Bullywug #02! Sheila, swings at Bullywug #02 with her magical +2 footman’s mace but missed! Phicenta, tries to hit Bullywug #02 with the two-handed sword but missed! Bullywug #02 missed Phicenta with it’s spear! Coal, fires an arrow, hitting Bullywug #02 for 5 damage, dropping him! Grax, fires an arrow, with short bow, at Bullywug #03 for 6 damage, dropping him! End of combat as bullywugs are defeated! Grax recovers none of the arrows he fires, (both broke), Coal recovers 2 of 4, Maevis recovers 2 of 3 arrows fired. Searching the bodies find nothing of value, just spears and a shield, and chain mail, on each one. They proceed to the cave opening and see two big row boats along the west side of the cave passage and several barrels of an oily substance, as Coal notes when opening one. It is decided to take the boats down the path, getting soaked by the waterfall in the process and row across the gap in the path, to exit the cave passage and go back up the entrance where the Yellow Musk Creeper and it’s Zombies were. They continue past the giant ant area without disturbing them. The reach the area where the Carrion Crawler and Piercers where. They move onwards to where the pond filled an entire cavern floor with a few large rocks  in it. Here, they have Cassandra fly each one over the water and into the passage on the other side. They go up a west passage they have not been in before only to find it is filled with rubble. When they reach the spot where the giant and large spiders attacked, they decide to head down the passage going south east and into the main passage as the opening was bigger there. Of course, more Tasloi are there waiting for the party to show up. Coal and Sheila being in the front of the party where not surprised however when they were attack by flying javelins from the tasloi. Round 1 of Combat: Tasloi #13 and #14, missed Coal and Sheila with the javelins! Sheila swings at Tasloi #13 with her +2 footman’s mace but missed! Camlin the ranger, hit’s Tasloi #13 for 4 damage, with his halberd! Rowan the guardian, hits Tasloi #14 for 10 damage at point blank range with an arrow from his short bow! Yuan-Ti Pureblood, tries to cast a Polymorph Other spell upon  Sheila but she makes her saving throw vs spells, rolling a 14 and needing   ≥  11. Meavis, fires an arrow at the Yuan-Ti Pureblood but missed! Coal, fires an arrow and missed Tasloi #13! Rowan, fires 2 nd arrow at Yuan-Ti Pureblood and missed! Maevis, fires an arrow at the YT Pureblood and missed! Coal, fires an arrow at Tasloi #13 at point blank range, hitting for 15 damage and defeating him!   Round 2 of Combat: Coal, fires an arrowbut missed Tasloi #14! Xilicien, cast the Confusion spell upon the Yuan-Ti Pureblood (snakeman), failing his saving throw vs spells, rolling 3 and needed ≥  14. The result of 38 out of 100 being that he just stands there confused for at least 1 round. Tasloi #15 attacks Camlin with the javelin, hitting for 1 damage! Sheila, cast a Silence 15 ft radius upon the Yuan-Ti Pureblood! Camlin, missed Tasloi #15 with his halberd! Rowan, hits Tasloi #15 with his magical +2 Geldered Short Sword for 7 damage, defeating him! Phicenti, missed Tasloi #11, with his two-handed sword! Maevis, fires an arrow, hitting for 4 double damage due to a critical roll of 20, on the Yuan-Ti Pureblood. Coal, fires an arrow at point blank range, for 15 damage on the Yuan-Ti Pureblood!   Round 3 of Combat: Coal, fires an arrow at point blank range, for 15 damage on the Yuan-Ti Pureblood, defeating him! Xilicien, strikes with his quarterstaff at Tasloi #11, hitting for 2 damage! Tasloi #11, missed Phicenta with his short sword! Sheila, hits Tasloi #11 for 7 damage with her +2 Footman’s Mace, defeating him! Tasloi #16, attacks with his short sword, but missed Sheila! Camlin, hits Tasloi #16 with is halberd for 9 damage, defeating him! Rowan, hits Tasloi #12 with his +2 geldered short sword for 8 damage defeating him! End of Combat! Coal recovers 2 of 5 arrows, Maevis, 2 of 3, Rowan, 0 of 4 arrows! Coal, takes 11 arrows from the Yuan-Ti and recovers a vial and a pouch with 2 gems worth 1,000 gold pieces each! He leaves the yuan-ti scimitar alone and takes the long bow for later evaluation. Maevis takes a couple of the arrows. Sheila, cast a Cure Light Wounds upon Grax for 7 hit points restored. Xilicien, used a staff of healing on Grax for 6 hit points restored. The staff now has one less charge. Xilicien then heals 4 on Balen and 2 on Grax.
