[LFP][5E][EST] (Fri/Sat/Sun) Grimdark High Fantasy Homebrew campaign starting up.

1573788395

Edited 1574274689
SETTING: The campaign setting you will be playing in will require sane, logical thinking to ensure the survival of your characters. I as a DM reward players for role-playing their characters authentically and keeping meta gaming to a minimum as well as approaching situation not as you as the player would but you as the character would instead. As it says in the title the setting is Grimdark so come prepared for all that entails. The beginning of the campaign will involve the PCs (Who are part of a guild) choosing which missions they prefer to do and completing contracts as they learn more about the changes the world is currently undergoing.Once the party learns enough about whats really going wrong with the world they will need to decide how they will deal with their new situation. I would describe the world in more detail but I believe you should experience it first hand through your PCs rather than have me spoil things here. TIME: The game will take place anytime from Friday night, anytime Saturday or anytime Sunday depending on the schedules of the players. GAME: No homebrew, UA optional depending on the content. All optional books allowed. Stats will be rolled. All alignments allowed. Monster races allowed. Starting level 1. We use discord and R20. Ideally this campaign would go all the way from lvl 1 to 20 I certainly have enough content written. NOTE TO PLAYERS: Try to make a character that works well with others. The world will certainly be out gunning for you and there's no reason the PCs should be gunning for each other. I run my game heavily based on story and role-play but when combat does happen it will be bloody. I rarely force combat onto my players but when it does happen it will be story related. Your action matter and you must realize that no action whatsoever is as much of an action as any other; do not make your decisions lightly. I'll message you personally if I like your application. APPLICATION (Write as much or as little as you as comfortable with) Schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun) : (Post which of the three days works best for you) (Any/All) : Why do you play DnD? What do you seek to gain from this shared experience? : Why apply for my campaign? Surely there are other DMs out there looking for players to join so why me? : What do you as a player seek to get out of my game on a personal level? : Your Character Name: Class: Race: Background: Why does your character want to adventure? : (What do they seek?)
Schedule: Anytime after 6pm CST works for me on all 3 days, up to 11PM on friday. On Sat/Sunday I can go up to anytime and of course can still only start anytime after 6pm CST. Why do you play DnD? What do you seek to gain from this shared experience? : Cooperative storytelling, an interesting and thought-out story to interact with, and the ability to roleplay with like-minded individuals. I seek to gain as well the opportunity to develop a character, and to explore and influence a world with said character. Why apply for my campaign? Surely there are other DMs out there looking for players to join so why me? : You seem to know what you want to do, and GrimDark settings intrigue me to a point. I also like that you're up front in this post about whats allowed/disallowed etc. For efficiencies sake it makes more sense to me than just having to eek the information out over time or right before session, etc. What do you as a player seek to get out of my game on a personal level? : A chance to play and have my characters be taken somewhat seriously, a respectable experience where humor can occur but doesn't overshadow why we're there. A clear and communicative DM and player relationship. Your Character Name: Ahlas Blue-Tongue. (Arthur Blu) Class: Rogue Race: Yuan-Ti Pureblood Background: An infiltrator and spy born to a secluded Yuan-Ti temple, his status as a pureblood meant that he was of the lowest order, only fit to spy upon the "lesser races" that the snake worshiping cannibals sought to conquer. Sent out to do just that, he was trained somewhat in Rogue-Craft in order to not blow the cover of his operations, sending back correspondence to his home temple. However, one day he realized... it wasn't worth it. Apparently, some group of stronger adventurers had perhaps cleared out enough of his kin, or mayhaps one of their rituals had produced an abomination that the snake folk could not control. Either way, his messages stopped being returned years into his false identity as an adventurer, leaving him without orders and free of his chains. He chose to try and fully acclimate to his fake life and make it into reality. After all, he had started to have some modicum of fun far, far away from those vine-covered stone halls and the flesh pits of his horrific masters. Though still paranoid that they might one day return to grant him orders or to punish him for his lazing in his duties, he has only the choice to continue and hope he can became what he has been faking to be for these long days:A n adventurer and a hero. Why does your character want to adventure? : (What do they seek?) An escape from the traumatic past of being raised for the soul purpose of being a spy and a dreg worker in a cultish society, and the power to shed his fear of that hellish background. Perhaps even answers as to what happened to his birth-home, and whether it still stands. If it does, perhaps one day he can crush it once and for all and be free of that place, even in his nightmares.
Schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun) : (Post which of the three days works best for you) (Any/All) : Any day that is not Saturday Night. Why do you play DnD? What do you seek to gain from this shared experience? : Played, DnD at a table as a Kid. Now in a new location and as an adult ive been running games on roll20 forever and want to get to sit on the player side. Why apply for my campaign? Surely there are other DMs out there looking for players to join so why me? : Because the post was here. Your not special, just one of a half dozen application posts i am making. No one to know who will bother to reply back, so casting lots of lines out. Hopefully one of them decides to msg me back. What do you as a player seek to get out of my game on a personal level? : Entertainment??? Not sure what else i would try to 'get out of your game' other than entertainment. I am not posting a char concept as i enjoy rolling with and riffing off of another player. As an example, The Yuan-Ti Pureblood above me, if he went with "Yuan ti made a snake abomination that made him decide to flee" i could roll a Wizard who participated in the creation of that Snake Abomination. I generally try to tie the char directly to someone elses char, to encourage RP and char ties. Therefore there is no char for me to present to you.
Schedule Times in Central European Time since I'm in Sweden. Convert your times on a site like this. https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html?iso=20191115T170000&p1=239 Fri: 18-22, Sat: 06-22, Sun: 06-21 Why do you play DnD? What do you seek to gain from this shared experience? : I love role playing, to take on a different set of behaviors, wants, needs, habits, abilities and all the rest. I don't claim to be an expert, as I have watched and listened to a lot more DnD than I've actually played in the last few years, but I do tend to try my best, and I think about my character and any campaign I end up in lot. It feels like I always want to do more after a session is over. I love to interact with a world, other players and their characters, to see how my decisions affect said world, party, NPCs, my own character and future decisions and stories. I love the cooperative story telling, using our imaginations together, to see how something spirals out from a minute thing. I love excitement too, I play plenty of games of tactics, and enjoy the combat. No expert here either though. I enjoy having all of the invested time and energy of my character on the line. Suddenly my character's story might end, and when they do die, that might be sad, but then I get a chance to get to know another. So losing a character is part of the fun, and the horror. I have a hard time making a character that goes all out in being min maxed, or all-out in the other direction, not considering mechanics at all for role play or whatever. They tend to be a mix. And that's what I enjoy playing too. A good mix. Why apply for my campaign? Surely there are other DMs out there looking for players to join so why me? : Grim dark sounds like a lot of fun. Your straight out of the gate - you will be in danger - warning, I like that kind of DMing. Your game is on the weekend, as my game must be. Not much love for meta-gaming, sounds good to me - I want to play my character. You didn't specify a time zone, so we'll see, hopefully we can make it fit. Over all, I don't apply for many games anymore, and yours is the first in a while where I haven't had any objections at all to anything you've written. Maybe I'm too picky? Or you just wrote the perfect post. (Does sucking up work?) What do you as a player seek to get out of my game on a personal level? : I want fun! I want to be able to bore my friends with excited stories about the latest happenings in this awesome DnD campaign I'm part of. I want a world to poke at, and that pokes at whatever character I put in. I want to croak in an old man voice at my party that we must heed the warnings of those who came before us, lest we will surely perish, or rush in ahead of them with a furious berserker roar if I'm playing the front line barbarian. I want to pick the pocket of the wizard, steal his spell book and almost immediately get caught reading it in the open, because I'm the curious rogue, but I don't actually want to derail the party entirely. I do however want the wizard to get angry, if that's his thing, and have an argument, if that's our thing. I want to flirt with the monsters, save the vampire and drive a stake through the heart of the damsel in distress. Or something like that. I don't know. Adventure and DnD. All of it. I want it all! :) Your Character Well, damn, I don't know yet. I know I would prefer not to play a bard or a rogue at the moment. Otherwise I'm happy to "fill" to an extent. If we are in for some dangerous combats I suppose I could fill whatever combat role we're lacking and build a lot of traits around whatever starting point that ends up being. But for example, I could play a rough and grumpy dwarven fighter type. I love that guy. I would start out as pretty much that, and then as the game goes on I'd try to develop a character in one direction or another depending on what happens. Maybe I'll start him out grumpy, ruthless and merciless because of what he's seen and how he has lived. Whoever he is, I will play him as having some nebulous attachment to the rest of the party. It will not even need to be defined. If it is defined that's better, but some things I am willing to hand wave for ease of play, just because I don't really enjoy the PvP stuff. Arguing and disagreeing, sure, in character. Anyway, about the character then. Maybe he'll be convinced by a party member to try to find the good in everyone, and help whenever he can. Maybe I'll start one way with the aim of going the other. But I love the idea of switching it up because of what happens in the game. And no character will probably be full on one way or the other either. The ruthless grumpy-pants will have something he loves in other people. Maybe he loves animals, and then softens around other animal lovers... Something like that. Maybe he'll start younger, gullible, good of heart. And if it is grim-dark, he'll sour over time. That'd be fun. Or maybe he actually won't. He'll keep being the optimist while we're knee high in blood, mud and guts. That'd be great fun to play too. But he'd develop in other ways then, I think. Man, I don't want to reveal too many of the concepts I'm considering, because part of the fun is keeping little secrets about your character for the rest of the party, and to some extent, even the DM to discover as the game goes on. Name: Welkin Sourhammer / Yarvin Glimmershod / Idk Class: Not rogue, not bard. Race: Probably something classic. Haven't played enough to know enough about the fancier options. Background: We will see. Why does your character want to adventure? : (What do they seek?) If you really want me to write out a full character before accepting me I would like to PM it to you in that case. I have a fun idea specifically for a background of a human fighter that I'd tweak depending on what alignment I'd feel like starting out as, and what the world or starting location looks like. I have one tragedy connected wizard concept that is probably a classic to any DnD veteran that I wouldn't mind playing. I have a cleric or warlock background/concept that would be quirky and fun, probably chaotic neutral to evil. I would be happy to chat or type more about this. Ask me questions if you're unsure. Shoot me some prompts you think your forming party would need. Say you go along and pick out some other great party members who all know what they want to play. Then you can come back to me, see what I do with "Ok guy, we need that cleric. Who is your cleric?". Alright cool, enough rambling. :>
Schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun) : Friday (ending no later than midnight GMT) Why do you play DnD? What do you seek to gain from this shared experience? : Some great roleplay with fun and deep characters, an interesting and exciting story that we all build together, hopefully make some friends along the way. Why apply for my campaign? Surely there are other DMs out there looking for players to join so why me? : you would be surprised how few GMs there are out at the moment, I'm a GM myself however I've grown tired of GMing every single game and so for once would liek to take the player's seat. I saw this game and immediately took interest as one of the options was exactly the day I was looking for. What do you as a player seek to get out of my game on a personal level? : as I stated before a good story, I generally don't tend to take anything in the game personally, to me mixing up a character's feelings and personal feelings always leads to a bit of a disaster though as long as I can have some fun and tell a good story, it's all ok. Your Character Name: Vialo Bralta Class: Bard (college dependent on group) Race: fallen Aasimar Background: Entertainer (storyteller) Why does your character want to adventure? : Despite being a gifted orator, a high class musician in several instruments and having a vocabulary that would make John of Garland weep in pride, he couldn't sing. Because of this fact he was rejected by his family despite his other accomplishments, cast out into the world. He adventures to try and find some place to call home, to find an audience that will appreciate his talents, or perhaps someone who will join him, a singer whose voice harmonizes perfectly with his music. That said his sonnets and tales have attracted attention, specifically from Astralaria, the living library. Craving more and more works to add to her collection she has sent one of her chosen to shadow him, as much as that chosen might not like the job she was given. I do have other characters in the background ready to be played should this not be acceptable, also I would request if I am to join that Chaotic Panda also be allowed in, we've both been looking for a game.

I'm applying with my buddy Louth above, so you get both of us! Schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun) : (Post which of the three days works best for you) (Any/All): Putting in times as per EET/GMT+2 as I'm in Greece. I would prefer a game on Fridays, preferably between 8 or 9pm to up till 1 or 2 am. Why do you play DnD? What do you seek to gain from this shared experience?: Fun and a break from the daily grind. A good game after work always helps me unwind for the weekend. Why apply for my campaign? Surely there are other DMs out there looking for players to join so why me?: Potential schedule works with mine. What do you as a player seek to get out of my game on a personal level?: Fun. And fun for me means mystery, questions that need answers and interaction with a bunch of other nerds for the purposes of fun. I like meeting new people and other players especially. And if I can hone my DnD experience and bring some of that to my own games, all the better. Your Character I've got other characters on the backburner if Verity isn't cutting it. Name: Verity de Cartus Class: Warlock (looking to be a hexblade) Race: Standard Tiefling. May go with a variant if allowed, but that won't be decided till later. Background: An agent of a secretive order of librarians and scholars, The Order of the Keepers, who have close ties to an extraplanar, living repository of knowledge known as Astralaria, the Living Library. Verity is one of the many agents of the entity across worlds; she holds the rank of Talon, being a field agent tasked with retrieving new or lost sources of written knowledge for the Living Library, or protecting other fonts of knowledge that are under threat. She wields Corax, a sword crafted by one of Astralaria's own talons, as befits her rank. Verity keeps her status as an agent of Astralaria out of focus most of the time, content with fulfilling other roles while still working towards her patron's goals. Why does your character want to adventure?: Verity enjoys her job as a librarian, both in the mundane library of her hometown, and as a member of staff for a multiverse-spanning extraplanar library with its own will and sentience. However, she still craves a bit of adventure beyond the shelves and delights in opportunities to procure (or rescue) books and other sources of written knowledge for her patron. She's not terribly happy with her latest assignment, shadowing a notorious bard whose works Astralaria has requested penned and archived for her pleasure. Verity has taken the position of 'combat secretary' with some trepidation, but is determined to make the best of it and get out of it whatever she can.
Schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun) : (Post which of the three days works best for you) (Any/All) : Not Friday, but Saturday after 5, and Sunday after 5 and till midnight Why do you play DnD? What do you seek to gain from this shared experience? : I love the roleplay aspect and the shared community, the friendships I tend to make with other players is really important to me, and I love the different stories we get to create as a group. Why apply for my campaign? Surely there are other DMs out there looking for players to join so why me? : Ok full stop, if your flavor of grimdark includes depictions of rape/sexual assault, don't add me to the group, I'm a rape survivor and that shit be triggering. Anything else I can pretty much handle, and I do have a bit of a fascination with the macabre, it's a personal itch that needs to be scratched at times. That's not to say I don't like moments of levity, which I assume you'll provide. I've played plenty of D&D and other tabletops before and while they usually have had spooky esoteric nonsense it has usually been played up for comedic effect, not for true terror, and I'd like to see a change of pace for once. What do you as a player seek to get out of my game on a personal level? : A weekly anchor, I as a person need things to anchor my schedule together, and I like company, that's not to say I don't have friends, but I don't live near a lot of them and getting to them is difficult and we are all just getting out of college so we are all getting busier. Having a wider social circle, even if it's people online playing a game once a week, and I do play in person with my friends, helps me feel less isolated where I am, it also gives me a sense of excitement that most video games, frankly, don't, I guess I'm just more of a theater of the mind type. Your Character Name: Trins Class: Cleric, if possible I'd prefer to play a twilight domain cleric Race: Half Elf, flavored as half drow, though taking the base stat changes Background: Uthgardt Tribe Member, Trins parents met when her father, the drow, was abandoned by his raiding party after fighting a camp of orcs, lost a leg to infection from a particularly nasty wound. He wandered the wilderness for a week the infection growing until he collapsed nearly dead. Luckily, her grandfather found him while hunting and brought him back to the village rather than killing him outright, it was there that they decided he was too injured and weak to be much of a threat, and they decided to take a chance and heal him out of kindness. At first he lashed out, albeit weakly, though over time they gained his trust, and he, being showed kindness the likes of which he hadn't known in his peoples kingdom changed. During that time he grew close to the daughter of the man who rescued him, she was in charge of caring for him. Due to the severity of his injuries he was left physically frail even after recovery, and during that time had converted to the worship of Elistrae, so he no longer had a place in drow society. That didn't matter much as he and his nurse had fallen in love, and soon were wed. This led to Trins, who from a young age felt Elistrae's call and her protection. The girl was an oddity in her village but was generally accepted with some trepidation by adults, it helped that her grandfather was known to be a great hunter and her mother was known for being an excellent healer. Why does your character want to adventure? : (What do they seek?) Trins wants an end to the hostility between the surface elves and the drow, she feels that it is her goddess's will that it be done. To that end she is trying to spread the word of Elistrae to the masses as well as seek out full blooded drow to convert them, a difficult task when most of them want to kill you admittedly. She believes reconciliation with Corelion is possible, but that Lolth must be defeated and her father kin freed from her will.
Schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun) : Anytime after 10:30 PM EST on Fridays, but I am available all day on Saturday and Sunday. Why do you play DnD? What do you seek to gain from this shared experience? : That's.... Honestly, it's a good question. I play because it's fun; it's an escape like reading or video games but with more of a social aspect to it as well. It's enjoyable and entertaining. Hell, in some ways, it's addicting . DnD could be compared, in some ways, to forum-based rps; which I also used to partake in. Exploring worlds crafted in a fantasy setting, exposing oneself to others' imaginations, all of it. A long running campaign is like a really good novel series; something that keeps you sucked in, waiting to see what happens next. Why apply for my campaign? Surely there are other DMs out there looking for players to join so why me? : Why not you? Sure, there are other DMs. But each have their own style and their own campaign ideas. YOUR idea struck me as interesting. Well, that and the available time slots to be honest. What do you as a player seek to get out of my game on a personal level? : This ties in to the "Why do you play DnD?" question above. I enjoy it. I'd like to get a memorable experience out of it; a game that lasts more than a few sessions before everyone's schedules fall apart. Your Character Name: (To be decided) Class: I would like to play a Paladin, a Barbarian, or a Sorcerer (These are the classes I have the most enjoyment with.) Race: Since monster races are allowed, I'd like to play a more odd combination. Like a kobold barbarian or an Orc Sorcerer. Background: To be completely honest, I usually don't go into games with a character idea (if you hadn't noticed by now.) I tend to roll my stats and build up from there. Backgrounds and (as per the next question) motives are created based on information about the world playing in. I could give some generic response of a sorcerer wanting to gain power and knowledge by exploring the world, his chosen guild being used as a vehicle to do so. But not every DM/campaign has the same background information. Perhaps sorcerers are looked down or exiled in your world? Until I know more, I don't really like to flesh these out. Why does your character want to adventure? : (See above answer)
Schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun) : (Post which of the three days works best for you) (Any/All) : Friday would be best for me but I might be able to swing saturday Why do you play DnD? What do you seek to gain from this shared experience? : My favorite thing about DnD is really the collaborative storytelling element. Like it's a bunch of folks filling out the world that a DM prepares. We're all equally important to what happens and we all have an equally large hand to play in the way events go. Why apply for my campaign? Surely there are other DMs out there looking for players to join so why me? : Well you see its because this works best with my schedule and I go bleery eyed looking at forum pages for too long. What do you as a player seek to get out of my game on a personal level? : Well this is a like after work kind of unwinding thing for the week. Also there's the whole part where its networking with a bunch of other nerds that like to roll dice to see how hard they hit a thing. Your Character Name: Dendra Class: Barbarian Race: Minotaur Background: Outlander Why does your character want to adventure? : (What do they seek?) Ah man fortune and glory all the way. He's here to solve problems and make money/fame along the way.
Schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun) : (Post which of the three days works best for you) (Any/All) : For friday I can play from 5pm until 12:30am, all day saturday, and sunday most of the day except around 4:30pm-7:30 pm, though I may be available. Why do you play DnD? What do you seek to gain from this shared experience? : I play to have fun. Besides that broad answer I enjoy improv acting with other people and going through a story with them. and while I do enjoy making dumb jokes, I don't want them to interfere or cause trouble for the other players/Dm/Gm Why apply for my campaign? Surely there are other DMs out there looking for players to join so why me? : I'm applying because a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to join. What do you as a player seek to get out of my game on a personal level? : Enjoyment? I like taking a dumb idea or a joke and making it work and make sense in the setting weather it be a character concept, a plan, etc. I realize that I may have little to no opportunity to do so, but I felt like I should mention it. Your Character While I do have a few ideas for what to play I'd rather make sure it fits with the party role wise if thats a concern. One idea would be a sane crazy lady. Name: Dabadi 'The Blue' Dabadye. Class: Circle of Dreams Druid Race: Drow Background: A 'peace keeper' raised by fey in the Feywild (/settings equivalent) shortly after her parents attempted to flee the Underdark (/settings equivilent), mistakenly entered the plane, then died. She follows the laws of the Feywild and tries to settle conflict between individuals, often having to beat them with a stick or restraining both parties with magic. She has many a tale about the places and people of the wild, her feats of magical and physical prowess, the many adventures shes been on... ...And although she seems to believe what she says, it is apparent that the stories contradict themselves often, being unable to perform stronger magics mentioned in her stories 'because of reasons.' She is insistent on what she believes is true, but when proved otherwise right before her she admits she was wrong (though not always verbally.) Whatever the truth may be, she joined the guild saying that it aligned with her goals...Whatever they may be on that day. Why does your character want to adventure? : (What do they seek?) Dabadi wants to experience the world, see and meet the people in it, uphold the 'Law of the Feywild,' and generally do good deeds.
Schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun): I live in Romania so all these times have to be converted Friday: 20.00 - 24:00, Saturday: 20.00 - 24.00, Sunday: 20.00 - 24.00. Why do you play DnD? What do you seek to gain from this shared experience? I play DND because i like stories and interactive stories are even better. I love the roleplay, the feeling you get when you are transported in a fantasy world that lives in your mind, its like an escape from the real world for a period of time. Also because I like interacting with people and learning more about everything. I like being surprised by story twists and plots and the effort on trying to figure out what could happen next. Why apply for my campaign? Surely there are other DMs out there looking for players to join so why me? I applied for your campaign because i like homebrew stories and I like to see what you can come up with. I like your idea and i want to see how you are as DM. I watch Critical Role every week and I like that freedom you have in a homebrew story. What do you as a player seek to get out of my game on a personal level? I seek fun and entertainment, i want to gain more experience as a player and i want to meet other people and work with them to take down the enemy and gain power and wealth as a character. Your Character Name: Navari Class: Rogue (Thief) Race: Blue Tiefling Background: Faction Agent (member of a secret Guild of Thieves, adopted by the head of the Guild when he/she found her abandoned as a baby on the street of the city, in a bag; no one knows how she got there - only the DM) Why does your character want to adventure? : (What do they seek?) Schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun) : (Post which of the three days works best for you) (Any/All) : Friday 3pm-1am EST Why do you play DnD? What do you seek to gain from this shared experience? : I play D&D to bring my characters to life and go through an interesting story. I’ve always enjoyed fantasy and D&D storytelling has the potential to bring out the best of them. I love interacting with other characters and seeing backstories whether it be mine or party members, merge and shape the main story. Why apply for my campaign? Surely there are other DMs out there looking for players to join so why me? : I was instantly pulled to the Homebrew and High Fantasy aspect of the campaign. I love original stories and trying to create a character within it. I also liked your description of choice within the campaign. Not forcing us to do anything but our actions will set things in motion. I also have never tried a grittier campaign and would be interested to try it out and survive ;). What do you as a player seek to get out of my game on a personal level? : I want to enjoy a great story. RP and character interactions are always what I enjoy the most. I also want to meet new people and just have a good time. Your Character Name: Eldrin Credus Class: Wizard (Abjuration) Race: Human (Variant if allowed) Background: Archaeologist Why does your character want to adventure? : (What do they seek?) My character is young for a Wizard just 28 years old. He went off to an Arcane school at a young age and found an interest in Arcane history/spells and old magic. When he graduated he set off joining researchers digging through ancient locations and learning all he could. He was soon disappointed when he learned he didn’t have the access he wanted to the sites. He learned it was better to join jobs with groups/mercs and while it may be dangerous it meant he may be the first to make a discovery. He has a goal to fill his spell book with as many spells as he can and notebook with as much history or arcane knowledge. Even with this desire he is very protective of his friends. He would gladly sacrifice a spell if it meant protecting those he cares about. Theres more to his backstory that I can go into if I’m chosen, hope to hear from you :)
Schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun) : Saturday Why do you play DnD? Creative outlet and socializing. What do you seek to gain from this shared experience? An interesting story with interesting characters sharing a unique bond. Why apply for my campaign? Surely there are other DMs out there looking for players to join so why me? : Honestly, I am a DM and have been for almost 3 years but have not gotten much opportunity to play a character. What do you as a player seek to get out of my game on a personal level? : Creating and playing an intriguing character with a compelling arch, more experience from the side of the player to help improve my own games, and the chance to socialize with other players. Your Character Name: Asheart Daegon Class: Wizard Race: Rock Gnome Background: Guild Artisan Why does your character want to adventure? : Tinkering is Asheart's obsession, unable to resist the chance to find out how something functions, and he is always working on new contraptions. He adventures in the hopes of finding lost techniques, secrets, and new materials to one day fulfill his dream of crafting a masterpiece that will immortalize him, though he is a bit eccentric and easily sidetracked. He is an optimist and a schemer.
Schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun) : (Post which of the three days works best for you) (Any/All) : Friday: Anything before 3 pm CST or Late night [pass midnight] Saturday: Anything before 3 pm CST or Late night [10:00 pm or later] Sunday: All day free Why do you play DnD? What do you seek to gain from this shared experience? : I play D&D and other TTRPG's to meet new people as we build a story and experiences. I have a heavy roleplay incentive, I enjoy getting into character. As we save dragons and slay princesses so to say. To feel the tension of a high cost roll. We share and write our own stories is the way I see it. What I seek to gain? To be honest I haven't never had that question asked to me. To be honest I don't know. I've never come in with a expectation of gaining anything outside me getting to play my character concept and have more interesting and cool D&D stories to tell. To make new friends, to see others ideas? Perhaps that is what I gain from joining any campaign I suppose. Why apply for my campaign? Surely there are other DMs out there looking for players to join so why me? : Grimdark, a grimdark setting is what draws me. I wish to be the player, rather then the master in a Grimdark setting. There are not [in my experience ] not a lot that run that setting. I love brooding nature and horror that comes with it. Where some endings are bittersweet. What do you as a player seek to get out of my game on a personal level? : A gritty, dark, and horror-filled setting. Where all seems to be against you at every turn. That scratching feeling in the back of your head that you are never truly safe. Wheels within wheels that turn like sinister clock. As we all brave this world like faint embers on the wind. ~ Your Character ~ I have two ideas that I would like to go with and I list them down here. I prefer to just go in with a basic concept with a set of ideas, then work with the DM from there in terms of backstory. Name: Ishna Daugaard Class: Divine Soul Sorcerer/Divination Wizard Race: Half Elf Background: Charlatan [Gypsy] Why does your character want to adventure? : To seek the truth of her heritage, why the gods have both blessed and cursed her with the gift to foresight via fortune telling. To find the murders of her foster father and get revenge for taking away the only real family she knew. or Name: Devrick Haflingrad Class: Ranger [UA ranger if possible, but I can do PHB Ranger] Race: Human Background: Outlander Why does your character want to adventure? : He seeks to find his daughter who had been abducted one night with his life partner slaying when left to hunt that night. His first suspects are his his partner's parents. As she was a noble that ran away from her house to escape...something she never brought up nor wanted to talk about it. Now he seeks to find what left of his family and to uncover the truth.
