I haven't set forth any dates yet, nor have I set forth any maps as of yet, but I do have the books ready and set to begin construction on the game (which would probably only take a couple of weeks), but I am prodding about Roll20 to see if there is interest in a Final Fantasy 14-based D&D 5th Edition Campaign. It will be a long-term game, perhaps 6-12 months or so. I plan to do a "Light Party" group. If you play the game, you will know that "Light Party" means 4 players, but I may expand also into doing TWO games to where I may have a "Full Party" group, which is 8 players in the 2nd game. The game will start during the timeline of the actual Final Fantasy 14 game, which is A Realm Reborn, and will venture eventually into Shadowbringers.
I plan to make the battles as exciting for the players as they will be challenging. I will have game mechanics built into some of these battles (especially boss battles), where you could use reactions to either attempt to resist or attempt to evade enemy attack, stop an enemy attack before it uses it, and the like. There will be status effects up the yin-yang, and buffs and boosts. I will incorporate a Feat for those who wish to have The Echo, and there will even be Limit Breaks. Yes, Limit Breaks.
The RP/Combat ratio will be 65/35 on average, but will fluctuate as high as 70/30 and as low as 60/40. All of the usual places will be in the game. I will be using a complete Final Fantasy 14 soundtrack, so every battle, boss battle, town, and the like will have their respective music. I will even put in The Echo's music for those with the power when the ability activates. I will be renaming some of the D&D spells to be more Final Fantasy 14-based as well.
Regarding the Warrior of Light: I have not officially decided if I will allow a player to play the Warrior of Light, as the actual game has Hydaelyn's Champion already set, but I may omit this and perhaps make the group classified as the Warriors of Light. This would be the only lore-bending I would probably do, but that's not a final decision. Let me know below in the comments here what you think below regarding this topic.
[ADDED IN] Regarding Multi-Classing, I am doing this a lot differently. Instead of you multi-classing, you will be allowed to actually JOB CHANGE. Soul Crystals will be in this game, and what will happen if you job change is that you will have another character sheet assigned to you specifically for that job. That job will start at level 1 when you first get it and you can then level it up normally with its own experience bar. So you can actually shift from Level 15 missions to Level 1 missions to level yourselves up, so nothing is beneath your talent!
[ADDED IN] The game will be Free-To-Play, but if you feel like tipping, I won't say no. ^-^
Please keep in mind that I will only DM those who are Ages 18+ (even
though the game is Rated T for Teen, I am not DMing under 18 players).
If interested, please post a message below and leave some feedback. Look forward to hearing from you!
